The N2k backbone is very sturdy as long as you secure each TEE with a screw. It's also required by Garmin for the system to be warrantied. And keep in mind the steadycast is a basic heading sensor, so compass environment will only be so good .... if you get 60 that's about tops. The GPS24x or Reactor 40 is a much better option.

Yeap the Nemea 2000 is standard across all brands. Doesn't matter which briand. You just need the steady cast for Garmin & a Nemea starter kit. I got the Lowrance starter kit when I got my steady cast & echomap ultra back in December. The Lowrance starter kit was significantly cheaper! It's same thing! The starter kit comes with power cable & the backbone which is the t system. I have mine under my front hatch ony Hobie PA12 kayak. Out of way I never see it or have to move it.

You gotta have a heading sensor if you have any fishing electronics, even without LS. It keeps your heading at all times. I've had mine set up with steady cast from beginning. I couldn't imagine not having the heading sensor? You can adjust how far ahead your heading line/marker is so you know how far a waypoint is away. Then make your LS at same distance you know exactly how far & where everything is from you at all times. I mostly fish for bass I will catch crappie if I come across them. I use it constantly for fishing any structure of shore, grass edges, sunken trees, rocks whatever. It's an absolute must have. Plus you need to calibrate it of course. Otherwise it's not accurate

I've had my Steady Cast by Garmin for 2-3 years now and it was absolutely a game changer. It stopped my maps from spinning and once I set my LS on a structure it stayed true and on target. Now the boat will change direction because of wind or current but with my Anchor lock on I can spin my Rite Hite controller back on target. I almost exclusively bass fish so staying on brush piles has made fishing them so much easier. By the way I bought a Summit mount and put it on my Rite Hite and it will not work. The arm on the Summit is to long and makes my LS transducer hit my trolling motor shaft.

It will not work with an HDMI setup because it can't be powered and NMEA requires power and HDMI is used for Video on the map units. NMEA is a standard that has been used of years in marine world for guages, radios, and other forms of data. You are thinking small boat The big boat world rules in this area and we are adapting to it. It has nothing to do with live scope or the Chartplotter those are just seen as input/output devices. For the heading on the chartplotter to work, the boat must be moving because GPS only give you a Lat Long position when the boat is still and the heading will wonder in different direction. If you want more accuracy on WP and Navigation, turn on GLONASS data (Russia satellite system) and GPS to provide more accurate position information when making a WP or following a route/track. I bet many people only have GPS selected. The Kranken has two GPS receivers making it very accurate (See US Gov GPS site for limits on GPS) whereas the Force only has 1.

What is the best way to mount the LVS32 on your trolling motor shaft? I have the Garmin Perspective Mount and it’s mounted on the starboard side of the trolling motor. I fish heavy hydrilla lakes in Florida and I’m not crazy about the Garmin perspective mount. What would you recommend I mount the LVS32 transducer on? Any recommendations are appreciated.

Another fail by Garmin engineers! The Steady Cast should have been on a CAT 5 cable. The NEMA is old tech and an additional and unneeded expense. Let us all call Garmin customer service (they are great) and make a comment about it.

Thanks Randy. Be nice to have a list of needed parts for this, besides the steady cast. If I am not mistaken; need to buy a power cable for the steady cast, power cable for the nema 2000 box, 3- Nema connectors (or 4 if adding a second unit), connector for the unit to the nema box. Well I’m confused, I gotta do some more research. As said though, I think it is a shame that all these connection for an add on has to include all the extras, $$$$$$$.

@@chrisroberts3963I disagree to an extent. I use the network to interface my autopilot, chartplotter, the steady cast, engine gauges, and radar. I’m not fishing with my boat so I don’t need to automate a trolling motor and whatever else fishermen use it for.
