  • So you want to become an ultra runner? Start with a 50k, which is 31.07 miles - a little more than a traditional marathon. Before you have visions of 100 and 200 mile running races and think "there's no way I can do that," here me out.
Firstly, you absolutely can train for a 50k running race and still have a life. In fact, I am going to share in this video how many hours I am training in month 1 of my 50k race training and how I balance it with being a full time single mom and owner of several businesses. It's not a cake walk, but it is definitely feasible if you truly want to tackle the 50km distance.
This video goes over the types of runs I am doing, and how I prevent injury. The program was designed by my coach, Ben Light, Owner of Adventure Your Potential and takes into account all the demands of my life outside of running.
My hope is this- if you feel called to do a 50k, then you should try it. It will be an incredibly empowering, amazing and unforgettable experience. In fact, you will likely sign up for your next ultra marathon soon after completing the 50k (I did!).
Stay tuned for my month 2 training update (see playlist) where I will share my training hours, challenges and even some dry needling and manual therapy to help keep me strong and injury-free.
If you have any questions at all, please drop a comment below.
Thank you for watching and until the next time, ROCK ON!
    Courtney

I don’t measure calories at all. I focus more on food/calorie quality, and making sure I fuel appropriately the day before my harder/longer sessions 😁
