I would say Luther Vandross and Teddy Pendergrass were the most phenomenal solo black artist during my time on this earth. I truly enjoyed each and everyone of their concerts here in VA and I never missed any of their concerts. Their songs will live on forever. Rest in Heaven Luther. Enjoy your rest.

We New Yorkers knew his voice from the various commercials and Sesame Street. It was a familiar sound to us. So much so, that when he was featured in a group called Change (and Chic), it was inevitable that he would be doing his own smash album...and boy did he! When "Never Too Much" came out, it was a single fit for a star. I remember seeing Chaka Khan, spring of 1981. Luther opened for her...and I gotta tell you...as MUCH as I LOVE Chaka...I remember saying to myself "That Luther is gonna be Somethin'!!"

We love you at all times, please think about your health; macfht breaks; goes to the doctor regularly for check-ups. All of this is a small way so that we can love, see, hug and give you God's blessing for a long time. Stay Safe and god bless all on this world. Thank you for everything. Luther💕 My main man! Loved his lovely soft voice' his personality' his beautiful eyes and caring smile! The morning I heard about his passing I cried for hours! My Husband and children couldn't understand why? Most of his songs meant so so much to me💕 I loved the Video on TV when he was on the Russell harty show! David Bowie was performing Young Americans looking Absolutely fabulous! I think Russell quite fancied him! Didn't half the world fancy Bowie! I certainly did from the age of 14! When I first saw him on TV! Luther was a backing singer! Looking "very large" and quite shy! I know he had problems with his weight! Sometime later he was again performing on TV and he was so slim! As a "Yo Yo Dieter" I know how difficult it is to stay at an Ideal weight! The most I've weighed is 13 stone! My Ideal weight is 10st 7lb but I've also been down to 10st 4lb! Normally when I've been upset about something like a relationship failing! I only eat well "too many Curries and Chocolate" when I'm content! Miss you Luther so much! 🥰💕😎

I know when he was going through a lot at that time, with Bobby and drugs, but she have been going through that for years, she should have been there to support her mother, and the family, as long as that loved her, and that she loved so much, and someone who allowed her, to go on tour with him, before she even she hada song out, let alone album, and wanted to sign her immediately, but her mother said nope, she's not being signed by anybody not even you Luther (as only Cissy Houston can, I can hear her voice right now)she says she's graduating high school first, and if she don't do that she won't be getting a record deal at all.he loved Whitney, and Dion, Sissy and Aretha, and play Whitney should have been there, and God knows he loved Patti to death, out of all the Stars, (music stars that is) in the business, I think his closest people in the world, was Patti LaBelle, and Dionne Warwick, and Cissy Houston, and Roberta Flack

for me, his death rattled me a hell of a lot more than Whitney Houston's or Michael Jackson's. Unfortunately, society (myself included) is often times, numbed by by the indiscretions or character flaws of the celebrities that we hold in high regard...we just look past their mistakes because, its all on them. When Whitney went off the rails with the whack ass reality show and the drunken shenanigans and carryin' on, all I could do was shake my head, because as a gay man, I felt in my gut that she was fighting demons around her own sexuality that HER MOTHER wanted her to suppress, at any cost (that is my opinion)..and instead of coming out, and declaring that she was lesbian and in love with her assistant, Robyn, she chose to numb her demons with cocaine and booze, when we all know, ALL OF US, would have embraced her if she had ever been courageous enough to come on out.
But she chose cocaine over truth..and she died. Whitney knew better. Michael Jackson, knew better...hell, even Prince knew better..than to lean on narcotics to get them thru the day. But Luther, was simply a fundamentally grounded, sweet soul, who just wanted to love us, with his music and his gift, while we left his personal business, alone...he was found on his kitchen floor after he was hit with a massive stroke. There's been many a soul singer that have come thru just the last 4 generations. Some of them were pretty decent. But you wont get another Luther Vandross.
