Fun Fact. He was The First Guest On The First Episode Of 106 & Park. May He Rest In Peace. He needs to be Inducted Into The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame.
To think that this wonderful artist, Luther, isn't inducted in the Hall of Fame is disgraceful. He was and will always remain a part of my life...the happiest times of my life. Luther, your voice will never be replaced. He is the Hall of Fame!!! God bless and continue to rest in our Lord's loving arms 🙏🏻❤️
@@dianer558 right if this man isn't in the music hall of fame then you should not have a music hall of fame
Rock and roll hall of fame is for rock and roll.. not r&b. Obviously
@@Brookzplayzmuzic hmm idt you understand how it works 😂
This man made REAL MUSIC!!
This audience is too young to appreciate a legend!!! Miss you Luther!!!
BRING BACK 106 And acess granted pleaseeee
Lies! I was one of those kids and we grew up on Luther watching Video soul. You got this crowd confused with modern day kids.
NaturalMarieMoon777 im also as well. But i miss luther.
NaturalMarieMoon777 We’re in our mid to upper 30’s now. I didn’t know to much about Luther then but now I know. What a voice he had!!!!
Mr Vandross=🐐
He looked so good to me!!
He looked happy and healthy!!
Luther was the man!!!❤❤ R.I.P.
Ladies and gentlemen, the best voice to ever grace the music industry.
Luther was 50 years old, 12 multi-platinum/platinum/gold albums deep and 4 Grammys to his name, and he was just getting started. Right up to the end he _still_ proved that he can rock with the best of the best, and to this day no one has come close. Held down a genre for three decades. And his legacy continues to live on today. #RIPLutherVandross
I think it was 5 grammies not to be a stickler.
He deserves to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame
@@scaryanima9268 actually it was 4 at this time. The album with Dance with my Father won the other 4 awards in 2004
50?! He looks like he's in his mid-30s!
Like they say, you don't have anything if you don't have your health. 😢
Look at those pants! This is a throwback. I can't comprehend that 2001 is now 20 years ago 🤯
Luther your still the Man ..
Luther Vandross would have been 70 today well heavenly birth day in heaven rest in peace
Y’all the real MVP for uploading this
Damn I miss this 106 & park
Royal Indigo Exactly!!!
Me too ! Classic with Free N AJ
Me too
He looks to be in such great shape here, it’s wild to think he would only live a few more years after this
Luther is in a class all by himself
You'll never see or hear anything like him again
Damn I miss Luther Vandross! His music is so timeless. Real singing. Love this so much
It’s crazy how young in healthy he looked here in 2001 then he passes in 2005
Yeah he gained a lot of weight in 2002
Agree
He had a debilitating stroke that left him never the same shortly after this.
Thats diabetes for you!
I wonder what he was doing at that moment when the stroke hit. Just curious. Poor thing. He did not deserve something so cruel. 😭💔🙏🏻💐⭐
he looked very healthy and youthful in this, tragic how his health just deteriorated in 2-4 years
Health is a thing that can go fast
You never know what’s going on internally with people.
I think the problem was the yo yo dieting. I saw Luther in Wembley 1987, he was thin like this. In 1989 I saw him again and he was very heavy. The rapid weight loss and gain happened several times over his career. He was known to have high blood pressure and diabetes which are risk factors for stroke which unfortunately he had in 2003.
That's dope interviewing the legendary Luther Vandross!! RIP❤
He sold 20 million hard copies. We didn’t have streams back then ,so it was really something to be famous in those days because you had to work hard to get there.
Toni Braxton 1st album sold 10 million copies her second album she sold 20 million copies
But Luther Vandoss he gave us great music
Yea man half of us were born because of this man no doubt ✊🏾👏🏾
My kids were born because of Luther Vandross music. RIP.
Him n Keith Sweat🤗🌝😃lol
It’s crazy that most of the kids in the audience are probably parents
Right
Yes. They Are.
Sodaboy1996 How is that crazy? That’s just life
Hell yeah time flies
Sodaboy1996 obviously most of us were young in middle school at this time
He had the smoothest voice I've ever heard, R & B misses him!
Because of my mom, I love Luther so much!! So thankful for such a beautiful voice 💕
aka...THE voice!! Gone too soon. Rest peacefully. 💕
Bring Back 106 for 2020
One of the great singers of any and all times. I count myself blessed that I saw his final tour, in the summer of 2002. I’ll never forget it. I wish he’d performed longer that night. He could have sung the phone book! ❤️
Luther had the most beautiful face ; the smile, the cheekbones, the nose, the mouth... everything just perfect!!!❤
That man right there dang near the reason all those kids in that audience! Uncle Luther is missed! Peace!
He really did Give Us the Reason
He talks like he is singing. He exudes music.

R.I.P Luther Vandross reminiscing about singing “Dance with my Father” all my childhood
I would say Luther’s songs were perfection. The heartfelt words reached the heart and the music written from the songs were just beautiful.

Happy Birthday king! We still listening 😩😍🙏🏾
That were the perfect time to have an older legend to seat in front of the youth to lecture them about real music as i stated many times me coming from Ayiti to see how for the past twenty years what happen to BET what happen to our R&B music what happen to106 and park what happen to rap city, now we love and hip hop thats not our culture and i need to talk to Ms Red owner of viacom things have to change for my people for the youth to have a better sence of goods for they future and not garbage and that come from me and my late 33° degree late father from Ayiti and my late friend and mentor, Mr Kenneth Silverbush may both rest in peace with the most high...
I remember this episode. I was a fan of the show in its early years. On this same episode, he sings “A House Is Not A Home.”

1.Who's a BET's Midnight Love Intros & Logos Through The Years?
2.Who's a BET's Midnight Love Theme Songs & Hosts Through The Years?
Luther Vandross is my favorite singer of all-time, and this interview was 4 years before he passed away in 2005, and this is the era I want to remember him from. This was also when Luther was really himself at the time of this interview on BET's 106 and park in 2001. But then after that he had and suffered that stroke in 2003, and he was no longer the same or the Luther like from this 2001 interview, and the Luther Vandross from this 2001 interview is what I like and want to know and remember as one of my favorite singers. I really wish that Luther had stayed the same and looked like this and not had that stroke in 2003, because he was such a handsome and well-dressed man with style like from this interview, and he was one of the greatest singers with such a wonderful voice. Luther does of course even look good and in better health from this 2001 interview, and I also think had he still took better care of his health and kept his weight down like this, he probably would not have suffered or had that stroke in 2003 and still be alive today. And I say this because Luther had gained back alot of the weight that caused his stroke at the time, and he was also disabled and confined to a wheelchair afterwards, and his life was never the same like this and it was not a good situation for him at the time. So for that reason I do say that it's good that Luther passed away in 2005 and was better off, so that we can all remember him like this before his 2003 stroke, and this is how I want to remember him. Luther maybe deceased and gone, but his music legacy still lives on and he's also remembered from this 2001 interview, and again I say that this is how I want to remember him. Kinda does make me feel like he's still alive whenever I watch this 2001 interview as well, and this 2001 interview even shows that he was well outspoken just by listening to his voice.
My baby 💜 Miss him
Aaaw man. Legendary!
One the greatest to ever have done it. Long Live Luther Vandross
Luther Vandross will forever be missed because his music is timeless and he always seemed to carry himself like a gentleman in interviews. And on a side note I have a you tube channel type in Russell Mills May 22, 2017
Love everything Luther!
I take it back that I do like that song "Take You Out" with Luther singing. This was also when Luther Vandross came out with his 2001 self-titled album and it was the best time for him, and this is also a good era to remember him from.
I love BET. But i also love luther vandross and all his cds.
