why would you go to the ER for a high fever?? GO TO URGENT CARE
Holy shit, I can't believe I gotta say this. Even though you have said the same exact thing over and over, IF THE URGENT CARE CENTER IS CLOSED YOU CAN GO TO THE ER
URGENT CARE MAY NOT BE COVERED BY INSURANCE BUT IS FASTER AND STILL CHEAPER THAN AN ER VISIT.
THE REASON WHY I YOU SHOULD GO TO THE URGENT CARE IS SO YOU CAN GET A PROFESSIONAL DIAGNOSIS AND GET STABLIZED IF URGENT CARE CAN'T FULLY TREAT YOUR ISSUE, YES URGENT CARE CAN NOT DO EVERYTHING THE ER CAN DO, BUT THEY CAN STILL GIVE INFO TO THE ER SO THEY CAN TREAT YOU FASTER AND URGENT CARE CAN STILL GIVE YOU MEDICINE TO HELP STABLIZE YOU BEFORE GOING TO THE ER. AND IT WILL SHORTEN YOUR WAIT TIME.
PLEASE STOP REPEATING THE SAME GOD DAMN THING. Thank you 😊

Children’s health state can deteriorate rapidly, which is why you normally take them to ER instead of UC if it’s something serious like a high fever. I remember GPs would always tell my mum just to take me to the hospital when I was little because it can get bad rather quickly. Also could be because UC isn’t normally 24/7 so OP could be getting worried about her kid but not be able to visit UC so instead she would have to visit ER.

She did the right thing and all with those idiotic neighbours… but why the hell do people feel like their case is more urgent in a ER because they have a “high” fever (that most of the times is just 39-40 degrees Celsius) when there are people that are actually dying? I get many don’t know basic medicine but even just basic room reading would tell you that between your “feeling uneasy” and that other guy’s 3rd degree burn, his burn would be of higher priority. I also get that I come from a nation where there’s free health care (that’s really not that free because we pay it with taxes but still) and so I can’t really comprehend that feeling of paying for a bad medical service, but getting angry on social media won’t solve it (also in places with free health care there’s usually more people in ER because they won’t even try to solve little problems on their own most of the times).

because if the fever is high enough it cooks your brain and you die (around 42C can result in convulsions and death). I had to take my dad to the ER at 1am one day and sat there for hours waiting for help, the ER thinking he was just drunk because he was puking his guts out on the floor, after one of the ER doctors did tests, he was admitted and we were told he was maybe an hour away from dying and his body was in the process of shutting down while we waited in the ER. Just because something isn't obvious doesn't mean it isn't serious.

One time, I broke my arm by falling off a bike, I had blood dripping all over my legs and arms and had giant gashes. They deemed it not serious enough to need treatment and I waited 3 hours. This is true, because there are people who are in critical condition and could die, or have brain damage, so being sick or having a broken arm and bleeding out is not as big of a deal. I could handle the blood at home, and the broke arm was only a buckle fracture, otherwise I was fine, and being sick can be bad, but there’s a good chance it’s not “dying” bad so you just gotta hunker down and thug it out until they can treat you. Just be glad you’re not in such a critical condition that you have to be treated immediately.

Came to say this. As an ems student I have learnt that it is more “fortunate” to have to wait however ridiculously long at an ER than to be seen immediately. If you can wait, you’ll probably be okay. If you can’t wait, the situation is dire and is the worst day of your life for many. It’s an emergency room, not a waiting room for a GP. I understand the frustration with not being attended to quickly, but my gratitude for being able to wait overpowers that frustration now

Had similar issues with our neighbors and they are still doing stuff. Police called on them four or five times now and a police officer had to walk them through a letter stating not to come onto our property at all. This was after their grandson started turning around in our driveway, and almost hit me twice, my dog once, and my nephew, and we put a chain up across our property. After telling the grandson to stop almost hitting us in our own driveway. They then proceeded to try and build a fence across our driveway to block us in and the wife tried to slap my mother twice from behind. All over 18 inches of property that we travel over and have traveled over for 30+ years, 15+years before they moved in. We had permission from the previous owner to make the drive way and also legal documents saying the driveway has existed since 1994. Apparently we now legally have a right away after using our driveway that long. Local police wouldn't arrest the grandfather for trespassing yet though, or throwing rocks from our driveway at animals. Awful people.

You should have went through with pressing the charges.People like this get away with c*** like that. All the time, and they think they can because of their money. And then the one time Jo when it doesn't count their money. Then they try to apologize and that's what it works

In Sweden, people going to the ER for a fever that’s deemed not very dangerous at the actual ER is a big reason as to why a lot of people in actual need of ER treatments don’t get the care they need.
We have a medical hotline (1177) that you should call beforehand that will let you know whether or not you need to seek ER attention or can wait it out/go to a night urgent care/book an appointment with your house dr.
They will also call an ambulance for you if they deem it necessary.
This is ofc not necessary if a patient is having an obvious life threathening issue in which case you always should call 112 (911)
I think that part triggered me more than the actual issue because there have been many many instances where minor injuries and illnesses has taken up valuable time from actually sick and injured individuals.
But I don’t know the US system, so maybe a fever is a reason for an ER visit there 😅
    ETA:
Ofc if you’re having a really really high fever and other potentially dangerous symptoms you should probably go but it’s always best to call 1177 if you think you can possibly wait 10-30 minutes longer

The fact he already had a record is crazy. Like...he knew he had a case like this before but he still did it. He must have thought you wouldn't really have any evidence to counteract his claim that it was on the street because he seemed to wise up hella fast.
My guess? The officer scared the shit out of him and told them about the charges for tresspassing and that's when he realized he fucked up.
I would have looked that man in the eyes and said "if I see you or your sons car parked on my property again. I will have no mercy."

They wouldn't Street park it because it was too new and too big. They are stupid could let them use op driveway op said no, long story short op had the truck towed. The story I heard even had the same illness sections
