I can see this happening in my country a lot because many girls don't report SA/Rape cases most of the time, because fucking society blames the girl. This is an ongoing issue here, where many parents encourage their daughters to not report to the cops and stay silent because being raped is apparantly a 'disgrace' to the family. Maybe this happened in a country like that as he mentioned laws are very women specific too, meaning the majority of people may be heavily patriarchal and 'wanting to protect women'. However that doesn't excuse the behaviour the family showed towards him, and they should have tried to understand his point and try to find actual proof to any mistake committed. It's sad that cases like this are real, where a man was released 20 years later after being proven that he was falsely accused for rape. But one reason why they don't immediately suspect the woman if she accuses someone of rape is because, there is already a problem of women not reporting it, and if being suspected is what they'll get immediately, more and more women will stop coming forward. So if they were in a country like that, if Amanda had gone to the cops he would have likely been arrested as again, 'women centric' laws. This is the point where the line between Legality and Morality starts blurring, and the path the government has decided to take was to do nothing and rely on laws made almost 80 years ago. Sad part is, this happens all around the world, so many cases of men being arrested just because ofnthe word of a woman, and then being released after 20 - 30 years being found not guilty, and guess what, the false accusers walk away like nothing happened, while the man has lost literally the entirety of his hardwork and life. Actually shitty how the world is, but there's nothing we can do, no protests, no fight for the rights, nothing, will bring change. He was disowned and shunned from everyone he knew, his friends, family and Jenny. He was in a very dark place, but eventually found a job that he was able to get because he had no criminal record. (The police never showed up at his door) At this work place he befriended a guy named Derrick, who later became one of his close friends. He also found a woman, Kim, who understood his background and they started dating. Amanda randomly calls one day, and she was essentially apologizing for what she had done. She explained that she and Henry were dating, and it was Henry’s idea to frame him for r***. When she was drunk, she confessed that she ruined an ex’s life to her partner. He made her apologize. (Which is why she called) Legal action was taken. He told Amanda to tell his family the truth. In which, once they found out they were also apologizing for assuming so soon. He told them that he would forgive them on his own time. He was able to meet his two daughters once again, and there was a child with Kim that was on the way. (Sorry if I left out a bunch of parts, or messed anything up, or confusing, I typed this from memory and I would say these are some of the key details)

The only issue is that a defamation lawsuit requires proof that the accusations really did negatively effect someone's life. It isn't always easy to get all of the proof because so much of it is circunstancial.

My gradnfather knew someone like this in the town he grew up on, thought that person never got a happy ending they did go through similar events, someone they knew framed them of murder and molesting someone and that basically made everyone they loved kick him out, disowned him, and even beat him up brutally to the point where they had to amputate an arm, over the years they struggled with trust issues and multiple breakdowns which let him to take his life, it took him taking his life for the truth to come out and now everyone in that family was seen like, and i quote this from what my grandpa told me, they saw them as "heartless bastards with no redeeming qualities and deserved to burn in all and every type of hell that existed" which is kinda brutal but that family got harassed so much they moved and some apparently took their life because they couldn't handle the pain and harassment from the town. I still dont know all details since my grandpa told me this when i was like 6 and he says he doesn't remember most details due to him being pretty young when this happened in his town

Regardless of whatever else he did, OP's brother robbed him, an innocent man, of eight years of his children's lives. He systematically set about destroying his brothers life, in full knowledge of how badly this would affect him, and didn't care. Not only that, he also set up a sophisticated plan to stalk his brother's wife, and smear his name just so he could get close and comfort his brother's wife. Once his plan was in full swing and OP drove round to his parents to talk to them, Henry also physically assaulted OP in front of his parents and still then wife. Not only that but he also manipulated and misused Amanda, though she was willing it was because of her misguided love for Henry, and after he had the results he wanted he cast her aside. Yes, he has a daughter, but does any of the above make it sound like this man would make a good father? A man who would go to these lengths would have gone further. If this plan had failed, it's likely he'd have resorted to something even worse.

This brings back some memories for me. I went through something similar and the best advice I can give you, don't stop till you get there. He's really considering stopping right before finally getting to the one who caused all of this, it's something weird our human minds do. But don't stop till they feel the same pain and agony you were forced to endure. The moment you start to limit yourself because of someone is the moment they win.

Not a single one of them stopped to think about why this random chick was willing to tell them what happened between her and op, but wasn't willing to go to the police and get him convicted for this very serious crime. It's almost as if they were looking for a reason to disown and shun him.
I can see this happening in my country a lot because many girls don't report SA/Rape cases most of the time, because fucking society blames the girl. This is an ongoing issue here, where many parents encourage their daughters to not report to the cops and stay silent because being raped is apparantly a 'disgrace' to the family. Maybe this happened in a country like that as he mentioned laws are very women specific too, meaning the majority of people may be heavily patriarchal and 'wanting to protect women'. However that doesn't excuse the behaviour the family showed towards him, and they should have tried to understand his point and try to find actual proof to any mistake committed.
It's sad that cases like this are real, where a man was released 20 years later after being proven that he was falsely accused for rape. But one reason why they don't immediately suspect the woman if she accuses someone of rape is because, there is already a problem of women not reporting it, and if being suspected is what they'll get immediately, more and more women will stop coming forward. So if they were in a country like that, if Amanda had gone to the cops he would have likely been arrested as again, 'women centric' laws.
This is the point where the line between Legality and Morality starts blurring, and the path the government has decided to take was to do nothing and rely on laws made almost 80 years ago.
Sad part is, this happens all around the world, so many cases of men being arrested just because ofnthe word of a woman, and then being released after 20 - 30 years being found not guilty, and guess what, the false accusers walk away like nothing happened, while the man has lost literally the entirety of his hardwork and life.
Actually shitty how the world is, but there's nothing we can do, no protests, no fight for the rights, nothing, will bring change. At least OP's life is changing for the good and there are good individuals like Derek and Kim who actually decided to put some trust until they saw actual proof.

In short, Amanda (a girl he went to high school with) made a story that he had r word her. The word spread to the whole family, including extended family. He was disowned and shunned from everyone he knew, his friends, family and Jenny. He was in a very dark place, but eventually found a job that he was able to get because he had no criminal record. (The police never showed up at his door) At this work place he befriended a guy named Derrick, who later became one of his close friends. He also found a woman, Kim, who understood his background and they started dating.
Amanda randomly calls one day, and she was essentially apologizing for what she had done. She explained that she and Henry were dating, and it was Henry’s idea to frame him for r***. When she was drunk, she confessed that she ruined an ex’s life to her partner. He made her apologize. (Which is why she called) Legal action was taken. He told Amanda to tell his family the truth. In which, once they found out they were also apologizing for assuming so soon. He told them that he would forgive them on his own time.
He was able to meet his two daughters once again, and there was a child with Kim that was on the way.
(Sorry if I left out a bunch of parts, or messed anything up, or confusing, I typed this from memory and I would say these are some of the key details)

Just the fact that so many cases of False Rape accusations occur around the world is disgusting and sad, because these false accusations ruin an innocent mans life, and as this continues, the chances of actual reports being ignored due to them being assumed as fake, is also possible.
The problem is systems seem to favor one side or the other. Some countries the guy can be a serial r@pist with dozens of provable crimes and he doesn't face a day in prison or any social stigma. Other countries the guy could have been on a business trip to the far side of the planet for 3 months and he will still go to prison on a woman's word. I heard Israel is really bad about this. And the US had issues with this (the Duke Lacrosse Team story, tRolling Stoned's "A rape on campus" story, Emma Sulkowicz, Brett Kavanaugh, Johnny Depp...) even before the MeToo movement, which will have repercussions on relationships for decades to come (I don't have eyes on the data, but I am pretty confident that at least two generations of men have pulled back from relationships, and the "red pill" / MGTOW / Passport Bros / Incel is becoming more main-stream).
Countries can't seem to find a happy medium where they protect victims without giving crazy women a loaded gun pointed at the head of every man in the nation.

My gradnfather knew someone like this in the town he grew up on, thought that person never got a happy ending they did go through similar events, someone they knew framed them of murder and molesting someone and that basically made everyone they loved kick him out, disowned him, and even beat him up brutally to the point where they had to amputate an arm, over the years they struggled with trust issues and multiple breakdowns which let him to take his life, it took him taking his life for the truth to come out and now everyone in that family was seen like, and i quote this from what my grandpa told me, they saw them as "heartless bastards with no redeeming qualities and deserved to burn in all and every type of hell that existed" which is kinda brutal but that family got harassed so much they moved and some apparently took their life because they couldn't handle the pain and harassment from the town.
I still dont know all details since my grandpa told me this when i was like 6 and he says he doesn't remember most details due to him being pretty young when this happened in his town

Regardless of whatever else he did, OP's brother robbed him, an innocent man, of eight years of his children's lives. He systematically set about destroying his brothers life, in full knowledge of how badly this would affect him, and didn't care.
Not only that, he also set up a sophisticated plan to stalk his brother's wife, and smear his name just so he could get close and comfort his brother's wife.
Once his plan was in full swing and OP drove round to his parents to talk to them, Henry also physically assaulted OP in front of his parents and still then wife.
Not only that but he also manipulated and misused Amanda, though she was willing it was because of her misguided love for Henry, and after he had the results he wanted he cast her aside.
Yes, he has a daughter, but does any of the above make it sound like this man would make a good father?

This brings back some memories for me. I went through something similar and the best advice I can give you, don't stop till you get there. He's really considering stopping right before finally getting to the one who caused all of this, it's something weird our human minds do. But don't stop till they feel the same pain and agony you were forced to endure. The moment you start to limit yourself because of someone is the moment they win.
