Slim Shady created cancel culture.... And then kicked its ass...
And then went hypocrite and went back on everything he stood for and told half his fanbase he didn't want them as fans anymore.
@@Decade_of_the_Dawg that as Em.... Gave up on Slim....
â@@Decade_of_the_DawgGood that half wasn't worth keeping
@dave_by_day7632 wow you're a bright one aren't you.
â@@Decade_of_the_Dawg it's not hypocritical to grow as an artist.
We didn't cancel each other back in the day. If we didn't like it, then we just did something else.
The goverment tried to cancel him
What ever happened to catchin' a good old fashioned patented ass-whoopin', getting your shoes, coat and your hat tooken?
are you sure you were there?? Eminem spend the entire beginning of his career fighting dumb parents and media and trying not to get cancelled.
@@t3hi84n2g Kinda ironic...Our parents tried to cancel him, and now its our kids
They literally held a senate hearing dedicated to canceling him. Leading it was Lynne Cheney (yes, VP Dick Cheneys wife). They had a circle jerk about it complete with poster boards with his lyrics.
She called him a âviolent misogynistâ which is rich considering her husband is a war criminal, but I digress, they DID try canceling him and completely failed. The harder they tried the more kids listened to him.
He's a month younger than me and Im 51, he's pure Gen X lol and that's why we love him
Yeah, Gen X was all over Eminem too! I loved the punkness of it. Rebellious. Angry. But fun. You must be one month younger than me then... Greetings, little one. :)
Nailed it. And to really know the rebel that Eminem really was, I recommend that people learn every word on the Marshall Mathers LP, which I believe came out around 1999. GenX - Slacker, so I won't be looking it up on Google.
Gen X here . Love him
@@robertreichle1 Abso-fuckun-lutely correct, I'm 53 and Eminem spoke to our feral generation and we loved his punk give zero fucks attitude. We were so tired of grunge bands being pushed on us.
Yep 51 here
He acted like Em really showed his cheeks when it was clearly plastic butt from Costume Store đ
Exactly all making from the Tom green video at that time
Right! đ
I donât think he got a lot of the references but of course he wouldnât be familiar with those references.
Eminem is cross generational, Iâm 50 and love him, my son is 27 and Eminem was the first concert he went to without parents. We were not so sensitive and had a sense of humour.
50 too. Fan since 2000
My brother is 27 n loves him, I'm 35 n had all cd's on repeat when I was like 12.
Millennials, GenX and many boomers love Eminem.
Some of us Genz who have good taste love Em
Boomer here, and yes Eminem is a favorite.
Eminem dropped his 2nd album The Slim Shady LP back in 1999. I was 18 then & now I'm 43. I could just cry. đ
I didn't want to like him, then got a job delivering pizza and someone gave me a cassette... Been a fan ever since.
Thatâs awesome đ
@@IamKing4L you should react to Obie Trice feat Eminem Hey Lady
@@IamKing4L you should react to Tom Green The Bum Bum song this video is spoofing parts of that video
Cassette... not your age showing! đđ
I never wanted to like him, was a Dead Head, then retired 2 years ago and heard Lose Yourself while driving home from Early Bird Special (kid you not) and have become more and more in awe of his skills the more I listen
You shoulda seen him perform this as the 2000 MTV music awards. hundreds of guys dressed the same walking into the building from the outside with Eminem leading them. Walked right past some of the people he was making fun of in the song. it was wild!
A lot of his original Stans are in their 40's....he started to pop off in the late 1990's... Shortly after we lost Tupac... R.I.P! That was 1996.. and a sad day for hip-hop/rap lovers!
Hey, some of us are in our 50's!
@@cianistarleWas gonna say the same thing. He was late 20s when Shady came out and all we had in 1999 was MTV so his fan base is huge, Iâm guessing between 40 and 60 now.
I still remember where i was when they said tupac died. He had a great singing voice when he was with digital underground
The government tried to cancel Eminem. No one can take him
The part with him in the fake butt is a nod to Tom Greenâs character Buttman from his song âMy bun is on ya lipsâ
Wasn't a take off of Howard Strens Fartman
Bro got all caught up on the fake booty cheeks for a few minutes straight đ
The butt suit was him mocking Tom green who had a show on mtv and wore the same suit
It's fun watching people hearing EM for the first time, also knowing that a lot of things will go over their heads because they don't know the references :))
soo soo soo many references will go over their heads. Its unfortunate because it makes the songs that much better.
I like to see kids learning abt him but really like older reactors bc I know theyâll have the same nostalgic reaction as me đ
Especially if you never saw Tom Green đ
@@ck240sx đ€Łđ€Łđ€Ł
@@ck240sx MTV was everything. It was our news station before Jon Stewart. I can remember hearing that Kurt Cobain died from Kurt Loder on MTV News.
He was certainly around in the 90's. His OG FANS are late 40s- 50s. Gen X all day.
There's many boomers, such as myself that love Em.â€â€
They actually did try to cancel him. When he mentions Miss Cheney in the song, it's because VP Dick Cheney's wife tried to get congress to ban him from the airwaves and mtv.
I'm 49,my Ma is 67 and we love Eminem
Me and my brother love Em so much Iâm 10 heâs 16
I introduced it to my son when he asked what kind of rap I liked to listen to, I remember when he said are you sure you want me to listen to him ? I told him that he didn't want to miss out. I'm 64 my son is 32
I'm 73 and also love Em.
All I can say is this generation growing up is so soft and honestly ill prepared for a world that is hellishly real and unforgiving.
It's really crazy to think the Marshall mathers lp is almost 25 years old time flies but it still sounds fresh as hell despite a bunch of outdated references
Eminem came out balls to the wall! His 1st album was in '96 with Infinite & '97 he blew up for real. Never listen to clean Eminem. Lots of his fans ages span from, mostly, 40s & 30s... He's a legend for real.
40's too here to salute you.
Em stan since '99.
Peace and love from Romania!
Almost 40 here and same from Australia â€
everyone was trying to shut Eminem down the whole time he just kept telling everyone to Foff - something we don't have enough of these days, everybody's so scared of saying naughty words etc. etc. etc. - I'm so pleased he went a little bit over the 'line' in houdini, I hope he's gonna start really pushing it from here on out cause he's the kind of voice we need right now.
1999 -He is brilliant and balsy and Gen X raised Millennials on this and now we are singing it with the grandkids Gen Z's And Alphas.
The GOAT. Not arguing about it. Wonât respond. EMINEM ALL DAY! - Slim Shey D.
This was Eminem's best song back in the day, I'm 35 and grew up on his stuff.
He spoke to white kids the same way 2pac spoke to black kids.
Em is big for us back in the day, his slim Shady days was definitely his best decade. His new stuff is really good too but back in the day Slim was wild like a joker card, just so crazy and we loved it.
Also a lot of the kids we as mileneals knew came from poor broken homes including myself so hearing someone go through stuff like are genaration was big.
Hello, fellow 35 year old who came from a broken family and listened to Eminem a lot. How do you do? đ
@@eden1909 I do fine thanks đ
Who wants to be a king when you can be a god
I'm 33 yo and I grew up on Eminem. We (millennials) were definitely blessed. The late '90s and early '00s was the era of prime Hip Hop and Rap, prime NĂŒ Metal, prime R&B and prime Pop music. No bs, no cancel culture, no snowflakes, just freedom, creativity and straight bangers. Miss those days đ„
Bro! If you only knew the backstory of all heâs rapping about you would be more surprised. For example, look up Tom Green humping a moose. And look up Tommy Lee and Pam Anderson, and so on. Most of you younger people donât realize that everything he says has meaning if you look it up.
Tom Greens The Bum Bum song is what he was referencing.
Tom green is a Legend.
was born in 1965 love eminem he was hilarious for the older generation loved him
Host is too young
He can rhyme any word
I'm 35 & I love both Slim Shady era & his era now (2020s)
In his Houdini video..explains pretty much on how the world is today compared to his early career ..and what he thinks of it
Many groups tried to cancel him. They failed! đ
My favorite performance of this song is when he performed it at the 2000 MTV music awards.
Millennial here who grew up on Eminem and im 40 đ. Em is the goat
30s? Nah, man, this shit dropped when I was a junior in high school. Iâm 42 now. Slim Shady was completely out of control and we loved it!
Iâm kinda at the cusp between generations, but I think technically Iâm part of the earliest millennials. My mom and I watched TRL together pretty much every weekday afternoon (a show on MTV called âTotal Request Liveâ - it was a countdown of the most popular music videos, and had celebrity guests on). These early Eminem songs/videos were very popular, and she definitely enjoyed watching his videos, too. đ I would say that cancel culture was actually in its infancy in those days - it just didnât have a name yet, and the logistics were different. Political correctness was on the rise. Eminem sparked plenty of outrage - he had the FCC and various political figures trying to censor him, had lots of people protesting him at various appearances/performances for being âhomophobic.â But the internet had only just begun to become a somewhat widely available tool - most people who did have it still had dial-up, and social media didnât exist. âViralâ moments didnât spread through social media, they spread through news broadcasts and newspapers/magazines. Eminem was just so insanely popular, and most people actually appreciated the First AmendmentâŠso he was uncancelable despite a lot of powerful peopleâs best efforts.
I'm echoing a lot of people, I'm sure, but more than one generation claims him. I'm 49 (his age) and Gen X, and we generally claim him first just because he's our age, but his music is loved by Millenials, Gen X, some Boomers, not sure about Gen Y, and Gen Z is somewhere between discovering him/confused by him and totally digging his bars. Em is Gen X all the way - sense of humor (definitely bordering on dark/daring), sarcastic, no-BS, and generally calls it like he sees it without worrying what other people are going to say about his words, thoughts, position, or politics about something. I haven't always agreed with everything he's said, but I've always respected the hell out of him and loved his music. He fought for respect in the Hip Hop community, and he earned his well-deserved place.
Millennials and Gen X.....these people were who grew with Eminem....I'm 45 and I still listen to him.....when he showed up I was 21
This was from Eminem's second LP. He is the reason for the parental advisory stickers. Because of what he talked about in his first LP; Al Gore and Dick Cheney's Wives went to Congress to have EM's music removed from the radio. Parents that were trying to sensor TV and radio went against Em hard and tried to cancel him before cancel culture existed.
The parental advisory stickers began in the 80's. 2 Live Crew was one of the first to get a parental advisory warning.
Most of his fan base is now in their forties. He was crushing it in the nineties. I think this video is late 1990s
I'm in my 20s and I'm an avid Eminem listener been listening to this man since his earlier song the earliest song I can remember hearing was probably this song or another one in the slim shady era
What amazes me is his ability to say every word so clear no matter how fast he raps I can still follow along.
âMakin me wish I were Stevie Wonderâ lmfao
I liked him from the 90's on, he is brilliantâ€
Em did this song live on MTV music awards, that's when I first heard it and it warped my fragile little mind forever.
How have you NOT heard of eminem
Eminem crosses multiple generations. I grew up listening to Eminem thanks to my Mum (she's now in her mid 50's) who was a massive fan. I am now in my early 30s and my 15 year old daughter is also a fan, as she's grown up with me listening to it.
Check out âlike you soldiersâ, and âtil I collapseâ those are some good songs too from back in the day too by Eminem
It was great watching your reactions to Eminem. Would like to see more of your Emienem reactions
Iâm a 55 year old female metalhead and I freaking love Eminem! I just love how he doesnât give a shit! Genx is the best. We just donât give a crap what people think!
This song came out in 2000. As for age, I am 47 now and started listening to Eminem on the album before this one (Slim Shady LP) in 1999 so at 22 years old. Favorite Eminem song: Without Me.
man get ready his releasing his new album soon and he is gonna go nuts about everything and everyone, hope we see some reactions on this one, also make some more of his older songs some of them are worth your time đ
been listening to eminem since high school in the early 2000s. i loved his honesty. some lyrics are rough in terms of subject but his vulnerability to talk on certain subjects always had my respect. he also didnt care what anyone thought. just did what felt right for him. my favorite is The Way I Am.
They tried to cancel him from day one. The government, media, religious groups, other rappers and artists and so on. That was 6 years before the iphone came out.
I am 47 yrs old been listening to Em since early 90s
I'm 15 years old and I grew up on Eminem.
I was never an Eminem fan but I forgot how dope this song was.
Bro you too young to get the references
I grew up on Em, I was born in '91 I'm 33. I remember watching his music videos on MTV
43 year old here and grew up on Eminem.
i am 40, this cd came out the summer i turned 18. i was bumping this song in my dorm room
The Real Slim Shady LP was the Gen X/Millennial theme songs. He came out in 1994 in mainstream. He was great and the reason we have the attitudes we have honestly đ
I grow up with Eminem/Slim Shady and i'm 41 years old now.đđ
I would say I grew up on Eminem but actually my daughters did as they rode around in the back seat with dad turning it up on the car stereo! Iâm still a young 62. In 2000 there was no canceling, only limiting of where it could be played.
I was 14 when Eminem dropped The Slim Shady LP. I feel old now haha.
My first time coming across your channel. I was a kid when this came out. You didn't see this stuff on TV back then, either đ That's why we say the new generation can't cancel Em.
I'm 35 and an early Millenial. So you are correct.
I didnât really notice Eminiem until he came out on the grammys (?) with all the look alikes. I was kinda impressed everyone cut and bleached their hair đ
I like eminen. I grew up listening to him, and I'm a teenager. My sister and brother are 28-26. eminem is their favourite singer/rapper
Slim Shady and D12. We were listening to this February 23, 1999. that was the release date of the album.
The Rhinos "clapping" was a nature show that would be on regular TV during family TV hour. This kid is so sheltered. LOL!
I saw this video with my brother when I was 6 years old. When MTV was good.
Iâd say cleaning out my closet is my favorite Eminem song
I was 15 when i was listening to Eminem â€
Elder gen z i grew up on eminem cause i had a cool aunt. I'll be 24 this year!
Iâm 24 now welcome to the 24 club đ„đ
When heâs rubbing his bum on the guyâs face say, âmy bum is on your faceâ is a reference to Tom Greenâs comedy.
I like all Em's eras. You can track his growth as a person through it.
bud? if you wanna see eminem a bit harder than this, then listen to "Kill You" and you'll see more of what Slim Shady is all about. And why everyone over 35 went nuts when Houdini came out.
He's gonna lose it when he hears "Kim" đ
Criminal as well
Haha, i remember stading in line for his CD releases. Couldn't just download it or watch it on You tube. Im 45 now and always listened to the original Eminem
im 28 and i grew up with his music
People who grew up on Eminem are definitely in their late 30âs up to 40âs
42 and remember the very first CD with the pill on it. I don't know the Eminem today, but I was in high school when he came out and was always a huge fan. So glad to hear Slim is back.
Im almost 33
I just turned 40 I was a freshman in highschool 1999 , when his first lp dropped
Em is crazy. He's top tier. No one would go after him, because some of those who did... well... hahaha!
His older stuff is the best, underground stuff even before this is insane
Watch the movie, 8 Mile. The rap battles are đ„ Iâm an Gen X, over 55 white lady and all of us have always loved Eminem. Sounds crazy, but the return of Slim Shady gives me hope for the future. I was worried, his eyes went dark like Brittneyâs, but heâs back!â€ïž
The big difference between when this song came out and now is how "canceling" or protesting worked. Em had massive protests against him, the difference was at the time the majority moral opinion of the country was of a religious ideology which by law can have no legal authority. Today however that has been replaced with a political ideology that is separate from any religion but still acts in similar ways, because there is no religion directly tied to the ideology laws and policies can be passed to cater to that ideology. Then these laws and policies can be used to influence the behavior of companies and social groups. I am waiting for the day when this all clicks in Em's brain and he comes back to his senses and starts actually putting a message behind his talent again.
Em became popular when I was in like 7th grade (or at least that's when he gained popularity in my area), and I just turned 40, so yeah, definitely 30s and 40s when he was coming up. Still, the dude is timeless, no doubt lots of younger generations will resonate with his stuff.
I've been an Eminem fan since i was like 10 years old. đđđ thanks to my mom.
Got that subscribe from me for the most realest reaction vid. You have such a vibrant honest reaction that i ain't seeing in some of these other guys.
I appreciate that alot
Didn't even know there was a clean version of this tbh....I'm 47, grew up on em and here in the uk we didn't have anything censored back then! đâ€ïžđŹđ§â€ïž
If your going on the Em journey you must pause and rewind. He has so many bars youll have ro to catch them all.
People tried to cancel eminem. We just didnât have social media so the way it was organized and talked about was different. The US congress talked about him during a hearing 2001 because they didnât like who was buying and listening to his music. lol
I can't wait til society stops being so offended by everything again
Was my first album when I was 13, so 25 years ago, and it's still awesome and funny đ€Łđ€Łđ€Łđđđœđđđœ
He's missing pop Cultural references. The butt cheeks stuff is a satirical commentary on the Tom Green Show and the Bum Bum song. This video is a time capsule of early 2000's
Im 20 and i grew up with Eminem đ
Your correct. I grew up on all versions of Em I'm 38 now. That era was insane. He was always under attack by pop stars. M.J and Em beef , the award show he comes out to perform with all the other dlim shadows let's not forget Suge Knight award show controversy, even though he was 100 percent right. Lol
Dude I'm 23 and loved this music since 6
Eminem was crazy famous until 9 years ago and now he fired every fan up with the new song
