Celebrities Who Seriously Annoy The Queen

  • It's been a very long time since the United Kingdom's monarch has wielded any serious political power. The queen (or king) has long been a figurehead while the Prime Minister and Parliament take care of the policymaking. Yet one major job the queen still has is a diplomatic one. She meets with world leaders for formal events, bestows honors, and oversees the royal family.
As such, part of the job is staying neutral. In public, at least. Sure, the queen is a human being who undoubtedly has opinions about the people she meets. But she can't really talk about them publicly. That said, she has at least told people in private or given hints that there are some famous folks she didn't particularly care for at one time or another. These are some of the celebrities that seriously annoy the queen.

This smacks of donald trump not revealing his income tax papers! It costs British tax papers some $85 MILLION a year to support the monarchy which is redundant and has no function! This money could go towards social programs to help the POOR sleeping on sidewalks hungry and holes in their shoes! Prince Andrew has brought shame on BRITAIN! So she's panicking the queen's doing her job and she can't tell the Queen " Stop doing that" but they ended up talking about normal stuff for about 10 minutes. I can confirm Mrs Thatcher was not one of Our Queen's favourite people. They didn't get along, Our Queen tried but there was a huge gulf between them. Thatcher was hard headed whereas Our Queen would try to find a solution to make everyone happy, Thatcher found solutions to make her & her party happy. When Thatcher visited Balmoral, she was placed in a long distant frosty back lying hole of a house for the duration. It was almost the furthest from the castle too, doesn't get much daylight & is a cold house. Queen has ways of showing her distaste.

It's very well known that during the Queen's weekly meetings with Margaret Thatcher, which are supposed to last between 30 minutes to an hour, that the Queen would not invite Thatcher to sit. She would sit herself, but protocol states that the Prime Minister cannot sit unless invited to. It's often been stated that Queen Elizabeth II was much closer to her Labour Prime Ministers, than her Conservative ones, with one exception, Sir Winston Churchill. The Queen held Churchill in high regard because he was not only helpful to her father King George VI, but he also held her in reverence too.
Most members of the Royal Family were excellent mimics and the Queen was also fond of doing this. One of the funniest moments was when the Queen visited a shop in Windsor. Her driver sat in an unmarked car outside the shop when some American tourists happened by and asked the dear old lady in a headscarf who just exited the shop if she had seen the Queen. She turned to the couple and said that she hadn't - then pointed at her driver and said "But he has!" They never knew that they were talking with the Queen!
Whilst quite a few foreign politicians have made an unfavorable impression, such as President Richard Nixon suggesting that Prince Charles should marry one of his daughters, Her Majesty got on very well with Ronald Reagan as they both enjoyed riding and whilst at Windsor, they took horses out around the Windsor Great Park. Reagan was a Hollywood star, so he had plenty of stories of his time in the movie business. He also had a similar sense of humor to the Queen and believed in writing hand written letters.
The Queen has a lot of duties which include viewing all the documents of state and making comments on matters of concern. Most people are unaware that the Queen although apolitical, sees intelligence documents on the security of many nations, as she is Queen of Canada, Australia and New Zealand and other Commonwealth countries. Her Majesty is often more aware of what is happening in other states than the leaders of those states!

Best thing: is to rid the nation of the arbitrary honours system for good. Also separate church and state,. Fewer than 10% people are Anglican. England is a quasi theocracy but millions are no longer religious and therefor the head of state whoever that person might be, does not speak for them. The Queen actually hosted the reception for Charles and Camilla’s wedding so it’s pretty silly to suggest that she didn’t support the marriage. Camilla has been given special personal honors at the Queen’s discretion as well. She has been embraced be the family and it’s a bit silly to suggest otherwise. I’m sure there were tensions in the past but they were all resolved long ago.

Yeah, Camilla’s and Charles’ wedding shouldn’t have been included. Camilla being divorced didn’t allow her to attend the wedding; it was nothing personal, because she’s show she personally supports the union. There were things she didn’t do or invite Princess Margaret, her beloved sister, to for the same reason. Queen Elizabeth is always going to choose duty to country, first. It’s what she’s supposed to do and swore to, lo those many years ago and has never wavered from.

Are you saying the prime minister gets the monarch to give out royal honours without the monarch having any say in who's on the list? If that is the case, any self-respecting monarch should say: "Right, from now on they are to be called Government honours, you can forget about 'royal'" A Republican Queen!

Genuine question, Yvette. Are you aware of how the metropolitan police work here in England? Pardon the assumption, but I’m guessing you’re not a resident of the UK based on your comment. Harry gave up all rights & privileges when he left the Royal Family. It was his choice, done with the full & frank understanding that he would forfeit such things. He’s no longer a working Royal (it could be argued he’s actively working against the Royals, however) As a non working Royal he’s not entitled to security any more than if George Clooney came for a visit & decided he wanted to buy the Metropolitan police service for his own benefit. It’s simply not how it works. Harry & his wife know this full well.
Incidentally they’re perfectly able to obtain security for themselves, just as anyone else is. And anyone else is exactly what they are now. They’re ex Royals. They have no entitlement to security.
