Secret Gen 4 Hemi? Here's what you need to know!

  • I give you my thoughts on the rumors that are being circulated around Dodge secretly building a Gen 4 hemi that will likely go into the 2024 Charger as an internal combustion offering. I previously talked about Stellantis purchasing billions of dollars worth of EPA credits from Tesla because they could not meet the ever-increasing CAFE regulations with the current hemi lineup. I give you some things to consider when pondering if a new V8 will be coming down the pipe from Stellantis.

Dodge CAN 100% make the Hemi more smog friendly. Direct injection, redesigned cylinder heads with more efficient runners and combustion chambers, more efficient intake manifold with dual throttle bodies - the list could go on. Truth is that Stelantis simply has no desire to put the R&D into improving the Heni platform - they would rather use their existing Hurricane engine to cut cost. Stelantis is choosing to kill this wonderful engine - the Hemi is far from being refined and there is still a ton that could be done to make it meet EPA smog standards.

A couple of facts you are ignoring- 1. If a business case can be made for a V8, it will be produced. Car companies are moving based on government requirements. These ignore what customers want. Companies work on profits and sales. If they can sell a V8, even with carbon credits required, they will do it. Carbon credits become just another overhead price- like electricity to run the plant. And 2. EV sales are going nowhere. All auto companies except Tesla are saying the same thing- no one is buying EV's. Ford, GM and Daimler were just in the news saying this. Toyota is refusing to put all their eggs in the EV bag because they have no faith in the EV idea. They are a business and want to sell cars. If no one wants their cars, no one buys them and Toyota goes belly up. The idea that the government mandates are going to define the future is absurd in a free market economy. It would be cool if Dodge makes another Hemi. With so many people still wanting V8's, I don't think a business case would be hard to make.

We like the Hemi because it’s the furthest away from what they want because it’s the least compliant thus making the most power. Same reason the older hemis went away. The only thing they did was add new tech to it with vvt 2 spark plugs per cylinder then put a cat, mid muffler, and resonator per bank and then dumped gas guzzler tax on the customer to offset the difference until they ran out of epa token then bought Elon epa gas tokens. Now they can’t afford it and ran out this is why they sell race engines separately and race cars because the epa can’t Fk with them on a track atleast yet. But they got their hands in the aftermarket already trying to eliminate tuning. This is why they decided the whole world go ev so no tuning can happen and ultimate control over energy which In turn gives China an edge and more of a reason to start ww3 with Taiwan / surrounding Asian countries over the South China Sea for the minerals mining rights which kills the eco system starving them selves while screwing the air quality much more than ice because it’s accelerated. The reason is because they have to refine using fossil fuel. A semiconductor take an extreme amount of energy to heat it into sheets this is not clean energy used certainly not in China the people with the worst foot print yet no body cares what they do so long as we get something for it and can sell it. Effectively making a communist power king of the world thanks to the idea of green on the brink of ww3 trying to go ev 🤣 can’t make this shit up. Also, in the last week we’ve heard over and over about the affect of cold weather on the charging impossibility at sub zero temps and the loss of one third of their range in cold weather. Even Teslas were lined up forming a parking lot due to the Tesla stations not charging their cars in Chicago due to the cold weather.
Governments have forced auto makers into this technology. Insurance rates for them is going through the roof. Lithium batteries are a ticking bomb and many have burst into flames while charging, sitting static and in collisions. In everyday driving situations it is not unusual to bottom out a car on a curb or object in the road. This can compromise the battery enclosure causing insurance companies totaling the cars due to the extremely high cost of battery replacement, often in the range of $50,000. I would. It put my children in an EV now that news of fires that is getting out. Fires so hot that fire departments are forced to let them burn out because dousing them with water will not extinguish it.
We have gotten way out ahead of the technology and lives are at stake.

There are articles published stating that the electrical grid can support the EV initiative. You can watch C-SPAN and see political yes men say, "We can support EV's". The truth is the engineers that nobody talks to say, "Where are we getting this power from?" "How do we deliver the mass amount of current to support this?" In reality, the power delivery infrastructure is not going to perform. The grid was designed for 1950's and 60's fossil fuels use. It isn't designed for an increase in current delivery or the 2 way current flow of green technology that feeds current back into the grid. Hopefully, someone has a few hundred fusion reactors up their ass. I'm just sad to see Dodge being forced down this path of cars you have to plug in or have an inline 6 because, honestly that new engine sounds like somebody farting in a garbage can.

It's all about total carbon credits. Ford had some hybrids and 4 cylinder engines that helped offset the larger V8 carbon outputs. FCA being now part of Stellantis gives FCA access to EV's and some viable 4 cylinder engines that FCA really never had or sold in decent numbers. Adding more EV models into FCA allows for some larger engines without having to pay another company like Testla for carbon credits.

Had the SRT program w/ big powerful V8s including ridiculously powered suoercharged ones not have ever been done, would we even be here talking about them? Stellantis has probably crushed the brand, and anyone (on this channel at least) trying to say oh cool something new is just trying to avoid the truth. Nobody asked for a TT inline 6. Nobody asked for a EV. They were only relevant because we bought the cool ass cars they were producing that nobody else had the balls to make.

So many, many politicians on frankly both sides of the isle, have their hands in the cookie jar, but when the rubber hits the pavement, & sales go south, like we are currently witnessing, watch how quickly a 6 cylinder or maybe a redesigned 8 cylinder pops up!! Money talks, BS sits on the sales floor with no traffic to buy. The big question, are you really going to buy an EV, with a speaker exhaust system, LMAO, gonna be an interesting few years ahead, if we are still alive!!!

Then if you look Stellantis is pushing an all electric commercial vehicle line up. That line includes Ram commercial vehicles.
Hydrogen in private vehicles is a pipedream. Burning hydrogen still produces NOX.I can say I live in an area where they tried to put in a hydrogen plant and it got attacked from all sides. No one wanted it and all saw it as bad for the community and our environment. You haven't seen that level of Bipartisanship since the congress voted for the Patriot Act.
