- I think my fuel pumps were fine. CRAP! I think I have a fuel blockage in the tank or line, trying to figure it out now. Had same fault code 3075-28. The problem was where the fuel line from the boat connects to the engine. The fuel line has a plastic sleeve interior. When the line was pushed onto the fitting at the engine the sleeve was pushed back into the hose and jammed the line. I am amazed the engine ever ran right.
are the screens connected to the end of the pumps ? like filters, small ones
I think so, been awhile
CAUTION guys!! Were working with fuel, remember to disconnect the battery and make sure no current is around as there will be fuel... When I bench tested I made up good connectors with long wires so I was not holding the pump as it still has fuel in it and I could imagine the spark from touching it to the power source lighting up that fuel. My pump shot fuel about 6 feet and hit my wife's car... shhh.. So I was outside using my truck battery, pumps on the ground pointed away from me, long wires. No joke, my neighbor killed himself when he turned the key on his center console "outboard" boat last Halloween, I have a new respect for fuel and current, we all should.
I have the same motor, same year. Seems to be a time out issue also. How did you read the code, and can you share the parts kit you used? I can't seem to find them. Aldo do you think it could involve the regulator? Thanks for the great video
I bought the Mercury vessel view so when I picked up the boat I could read the hours. It also later showed me the faults, I love this unit. My issue may have been the fuel line elbow that passes thru the cowl. amzn.to/34Caqis
i have the 2011 90 4s efi as well and Im getting the following codes...3075-28 "Electric lift fuel pump timeout", 3075-16 "Electric lift fuel pump The ECU has detected a problem when trying to output a signal to this device", 1111-23 "Fuel float switch A particular state or condition exists", & 1112-23 "Fuel vent switch A particular state or condition exists". Last season I was having mid range throttle issues ( around 1500 rpm it would fluctuate up and down by 100 rpm or so) and it gave me two codes 1111-23 and 1112-23. And when I cranked it up a couple weeks ago, i got new codes. Any idea why this is happening?
Hi, start with the basics and inspect carefully along the way. Its old enough to warrant replacing many of these items anyway. Check tank vent, replace fuel lines, replace all fuel filters, carefully inspect the elbow fitting that passes thru the cowl, where the fuel line connects. Then I would probably just do the pumps and float switch with seal kit, they are 10 years old and it's just smart boating. Good luck.
UPDATE Been working perfect since I did all the work, just sold the boat yesterday. In the end it may have been the fuel line elbow that passes thru the cowl. amzn.to/34Caqis Note! when you buy the new elbow don't throw out your old one. For some reason the diameter of the fitting was not right on the new part so I had to rob it from the old one. GL
Please Subscribe, thank you. Fault from Vessel View was 3075-28 "Electric lift fuel pump Timeout" This is the low pressure pump. It can start complaining because you did not vent your tank, you have a weak pump, you have a leak and therefore it can't fill the FSM tank, you have a bad float switch that is not telling it to stop and therefore it times out to prevent burning it out and or pumping out too much fuel and because the computer has a timer on it to stop it after a bit. You may also have a pinched fuel line, blocked line, blocked filter, fuel line liner deteriorated and plugged things up, fuel pick up strainer is plugged...

Pump kit to include both high pressure pump, low pressure pump and regulator, $220 Highflowfuel, Ryan extension #8 was very helpful. Again, I have no benefit or affiliation to these companies, just trying to save folks time. There might be better options elsewhere, its just what I did at the time.

Seal kit was on Amazon. Part number for my 2011 Mercury 90hp 4-stroke EFI. 880596A01 $74
Updated Float switch was at Great lakes skipper part # 8M6000359 $75
Could you please add the link to the other video? Thanks
I think i added it to bottom. This was before i knew how to link vids. Ill further tweak when i get to a loptop. Just search my channel for UPDATE misdiagnos. Thx
Hi there, I know your video was 4 year old. What were the symptoms of your engine that you had to pull the fuel pump off. I have a 2015 Mercury 90 hp four stroke that the engine shutdown once it reached a certain RPM.
Yes, same sort of thing. I believe its normally a tiny air leak. Sucking air somewhere in the line. In my case I really don't know if it was the pump. I believe it was the connector fitting where the fuel line connects to the motor right at the cowling area. Just replace that connector.
@@wetlifesports thank you so much!! It has been frustrating for me because engine is literally brand new.
One last question. After you changed the fuel line connector, did the problem resolve? I do appreciate your inputs.
@@nauticalstar8363 yes, mine had low hours and looked excellent. Air leaks can be very tough to find. Just be thorough and replace and seals or connections in the fuel lines including the lines themselves if you think they look dry. Look for chaff points too. Where the line maybe rubbed through. Good luck
@@wetlifesports thank you sir!

Sorry, don't understand.
Low pressure time out is usually a faulty float switch
Thanks, I did install a brand new OEM float switch and yet it still did the same thing.. I actually was starting think I got a bad switch but what are the odds!! This has really been tricky. I ran it the other day at it was flawless but I have no confidence because I don't know what fixed it?
@@wetlifesportsThanks for your video. I have both pumps on order for my 2011 115 EFI. Only 25 lbs of fuel pressure at times. Float switch checks good with an ohm meter. Just wanted to let you know I had the same problem with the FSM bolts turning hard. The right upper bolt turned hard as the other two. I was careful as could be but it actually broke off.
Man I’m having the same exact problem. Same exact engine and year. What can I do. What fixed it.
Wet Life Sports did you find out what fixed it. Please help.
@@ericyoungs414 not sure I got back to everyone. I actually think it may have been the elbow that connects the fuel line thru the cowl. This part amzn.to/3aTyhep
