  • You can make the most fantastical kaleidoscope patterns from old/leftover bits of polymer clay canes, and I have been doing just that in a challenge I set myself to make 150 of them! See just how I do it in this video where I take you through the whole process from opening the box to finishing the veneer. So, sit back, relax, and watch the process unfold.
    Oh, and I do talk a lot in this one - you have been warned 😉
    The music from the video is English Country Garden by Aaron Kenny and Waterfall by Aakash Gandhi, both available from the CZcams Free Audio Library.

    Thank you so much for watching.

    I like the shorts you've posted on Facebook, but I love watching these full-length ones here in CZcams. It's so thrilling to see the canes come to life. Thank you!

    What an exceptional video Fiona! This kaleidoscope cane turned out so lovely-the colors are gorgeous and the pattern is just perfect! You obviously put so much time, work and care into making this and all of your videos. Your efforts are so appreciated!

    When I saw this I thought it would perfect for me. I’m just so excited. I’m not into the representative sculptures. The kaleidoscope canes absolutely wow me. Thanks!
    It’s even more exciting than I thought. 150 boxes! Maybe you should auction some of the boxes off and send them to the winners.
    Can I come over and just sit with them for a few days?

    I add my thanks to Fiona's to the person who suggested a video of the process! I always learn so much from a Fiona-Abel Smith video, and am excited to learn new tips and techniques. I have very much enjoyed the reels on Facebook; but nothing beats a nice detailed tutorial done by the Mistress of Clay, herself!

    If that's the stuff you then oven bake (?) I thought, if you make it on a silicon baking sheet then you won't have to transfer it. I'm getting interested because what you made is So Beautiful and gorgeous. Thanks for making this video tutorial. I'm so tempted 😊😊 I'm doing other crafts but if I ever take up clay, I've saved your video to my crafts playlist

    Oh, thank you for this. I have canes that are ancient. I will try this technique to revive them. I also bought a big block of Sculpey III (stupidly) eons ago. That stuff is STILL soft and unusable for canes. I wonder if I rolled out tiny snakes and added them to a cracking cane if that would work. We’ll see.

    • @FionaAbelSmithPolyOriginals
      @FionaAbelSmithPolyOriginals  Před rokem +1

      Glad it was helpful. Not sure about the sculpey III, as the cane will still reduce at the same slow rate, and the softer clay would just go into any cracks. I would definitley only try it on a cane that you weren't worried about should it go wrong, just to be on the safe side. 😉🙂
