"The warming sun returns again And melts away the snow The sea is freed from icy chains Winter is letting go" What a great way to begin a song, with words of freedom and anticipation!
THE WARMING SUN,RETURNS AGAIN,AND MELTS AWAY THE SNOW,THE SEE IS FREED FROM ICY CHAINS,WINTER IS LETTING GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!ETC... THEY ARE EPICS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
Viking Metal does not exist. However any style of metal a band plays with norse mythology based lyrics does exist. Lyrical themes do not create sub genres. Lyrical themes can create sub genres, however they would not be lyrics anymore. They would be words in a book. In this case for Norse Mythology, it would be a history book about the mythology.
Viking Metal very much does exist and is a real thing. It's a sub genre of black metal with folk viking influences and generally viking lyrics. I guess Once Sent From The Golden hall could count as Vikinged Melodic Death Metal :P
Ian Speckmaier Could be both. That makes sense as well. That riff is all based around what would be a B minor chord in standard tuning, so yeah, both work.
+Alessandro Gallo Not really, B standard is BEADGB, the one you mentioned is a Baritone tuning, however Amon Amarth uses that tuning as well in some of their songs. both tunings are great, even though it's just 1 string that has changed. but still.
"Its like this, and then its like this, and then its like this". Well fuck me, why didn't I think of that?
"The warming sun returns again

Amon Amarth - The Pursuit Of Vikings (duo cover)
This has to be the best Viking metal band ever!
This is not Viking Metal, Viking Metal is a subgenre of Black Metal
Well most of their songs are based on Vikings and gods of Asgard.
Still not Viking Metal, Burzum is Viking Metal and he's totally different.

Is one designated the lead guitarist and the other the rhythm guitarist or do they both to leads?
Quais os nomes das guitarras?
2:40 those were the 4 largest and uncomfortable seconds of my life.... haha and also, who else heard "rhythm masturbation" at 3:26 ? haha
no they are alternate picking the same ryhthms as the bass drums! :)
Anybody know what kind of guitars they are using.
Planning to buy a new one
In a guitar world video they did they explained that these are custom Gibson explorers I think .
That would be a Gibson Explorer. Ain't she a beauty.
I love these guys but that was the most unhelpful guitar lesson of all time. haha
What website is this from? Thank you
Guitar World
Am I the only one who didn't get anything of the explanation?
yes, you're the only one
KVLT
"Then there's the B part". I think they mean F#
Yeah the pedal note in that part is F#, but i think they were describing the second half of that riff.
Yeah. You're right. Realized after posting that.
DropdaLTDtoB I think they said that because in standard E tuning, that note would be a B
@Ian that's what I thought at first but Drop is right. First riff would be 'A', second one 'B' and so on
Ian Speckmaier Could be both. That makes sense as well. That riff is all based around what would be a B minor chord in standard tuning, so yeah, both work.
what's tuning of this song?

BEADGB i think
shawn tillett You were pretty close ;)

+Derpy Viking Baritone tuning is B standart. Alessandro is right. you forgot that the 5th string is tuned a halfstep lower.
Relentless The Baritone tuning got the F# while the B standard tuning got the G.
eaaasy and cheappy gay metal ever
