- Hi guys! Here is the 10 most brutal and melodic Amon Amarth riffs of all time. (Based on global opinion and with some of my personal favorites) Hope you enjoy!
It was VERY hard to choose only 10 of their riffs since they are all so great, so there will certainly be some of your favorite that will not be here but hey i would have to do a top 50 with Amon Amarth to cover all their best riffs!

It's hard to think of a bad Amon Amarth song. I have listened to them for years and they are fast becoming my favourite bands.

I agree, but i do think everything beyond Twilight was just copy paste.. Surtur has some good songs on it, Deceiver a few just.. What came after is not even interesting.. Guess their message isnt speaking to me anymore..

All the riffs from TOTTG are kickass, especially Tattered Banners Bloody Flags especially with the theme of the song

I agree, Tattered is by far my favorite song of Thunder God. And the title track is also one of their best songs ever.
While listening to this video, I smile because it makes me feel so good!
Always end my practice sessions with Thousand Years of Oppression. Still my favorite to play on guitar 17 years later.

Imo it's really hard to pick out only 10 out of all riffs. I get chills down my spine from like 80% of Amon Amarth's songs(not that I don't like the rest, but they're not top tier) Great job with everything! :)

Death in Fire is my favourite song to play, the tapping section and the solo are just epic. Just learned Bleed for Ancient Gods (minus the solo) so it was cool seeing you play it here haha
+EricAxel36 Yes Death in Fire is really great to play, that Verse riff is quite hard though if you play it like they do in fast alternate picking on 2 strings, that's the only thing that keep me from doing a cover haha

Jus discovered Among Amarth today and have been listening to them all day then this pops of such a great band and easily going to climb its way into my top 5

"Last With Pagan Blood" riff at the end would be in the top 10 for me, also the intro to "Thor Arise" would be too, but at the end of the day it's all pretty subjective and you did one helluva job playing those riffs! kudos
I can see On A Sea of Blood being on this list now, its chorus and bridge are just so damn good.

I was hoping and praying one of the riffs would be Pursuit of Vikings. That song is what introduced me to Amon Amarth when it randomly started playing on my Spotify. To this day that's the only song that I don't regret Spotify randomly choosing for me. I also recently found out a few months ago my family's line dates back to Varangian Vikings, and it's awesome to listen to this music and be like "YES, MY PEOPLE" even if I wasn't born in the North.
My personal favourite is the mid-part riff/solo from Pursuit Of Vikings, i'm a bit surprised that its not on the list. But anyways great choice and well played ;)

+Benjamin Sherman Well the floyd's arm gets REALLY loose really quickly and that annoyw the shit out of me, other than that the emgs have a really nice agressive sound with distortion, they are also really sensitive which gives a lot of sustain but there can be a lot of noise when soloing, on the other hand that forces you to play cleaner :)
lol Yeah i have two guitars with floyds and it can be annoying when they flop around. I have an LTD H-1007fr I'm thinking of changing out the emgs for some fastback beardcombers.

Your guitar sound so much like Amon Amarth's - which gear do you use besides guitar? I see, you use the same strings as Amon - 0,012 to 0,062 :)
12 to 60* yeah those strings are great even for drop A
There is not much to say about my gear, I don't use real amp when I record, I tried to match the sound of each song only with Guitar Rig and the plug ins in cubase!

The long part was not to master it but rather to create a good sound for each song. I used amp modeling with some EQ (no actual amp)
