Tom Petty said in an interview that Roy didnt need to move with his singing because he had the voice of an angel.I saw him live in the 80s.

There is nothing better than this thank God for Roy Orbison
Backed by Bruce Springsteen, Elvis Costello, James Burton, Glen D. Hardin, Tom Waits, k.d. lang, Jackson Browne, Bonnie Raitt, JD Souther, T Bone Burnett, Steven Soles, and Jennifer Warnes. Recorded September 30, 1987.
Amazingly this group sounds just as good live as the studio albums, extremely rare you never hear that these days, not even close.
A time when men could actually sing
Roy ,I fee just like you ❤❤❤
Hi Paul, how are you doing today
This guy has more talent than all the music artists of today combined. No auto tune, no pro tools, no backing track- nothing. One of the top 5 greatest singers of all time. There is a lot of talent on that stage with him, and they know he is in a whole different league.
My favorite story is when George Harrison and Tom Petty both stopped when they were recording and just looked at Roy in awe. It was amazing that two superstars were fanboying over Roy. I know I would have done the same.
Wholeheartedly agree. There will never be another. Timeless. Flawless. Perfection.
Elvis said he's got the best voice ever. Amazing compliment from the king himself.❤
Roy's voice was and still is a silk blanket for the soul!
Irreplaceable..loved this man since I was only a teenager and still do at 74..play his music all the time🥰🥰🥰
@@ladyg8614 Cool name, grandma.👵🏼
so true
Yes, it is. Soothing a soul's ache.
Wow, I love the way you put it. Might I add, "Roy had the voice of angels, heard from High, here on Earth" and yet, he was such an unassuming man.
The best musician thank you for all amazing songs💯💯💯💯❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️👏👏👏👏👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
In 1963, I saw Roy perform at Vestavia Country Club at a Frat Party after the Auburn/Alabama football game. I couldn’t believe it was him on a party room stage. I was up front. He was unbelievable. No studio enhancements. Just pure Roy. I’ll never forget his expressionless face and the sound that came out of his voice. He stood there, expressionless and hit notes that only most people could dream of. He was unbelievable on a tiny Country Club stage with a third-rate audio system. But, he was great and something I will take to my grave.
Lucky you!😊
The greatest
Cant express the words that would describe how lucky you were. A lost gem that was lost too soon.
great story!
Before my time but what a great experience!!! Awesome!!
April 11 2024, and will always listen to Roy Orbison. We are blessed.
He was like an opera singer for the working class.
Hearing him back then on AM radio was magic.

Roy really cared and loved his fans and his friends. I believe he wanted to be the best for us and for himself.I believe he wanted to make us very happy with his music
and he wanted to make us very proud and he accomplished that❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤. RIP ROY
My dad and uncle would drink every Friday night when I was a teenager and switched between listening to his CD and listening to the other classics like George jones, Johnny cash, patsy cline, etc. Brings back memories.
He is my favorite singer..
His voice and songs are
helping me to go through the pain off losing my husband.

It’s a remake of his song from the 60’s 🤪🤬🤯
One hell of a record from an artist with one of the greatest voices of all time..
The backing band was the TCB Band, which accompanied Elvis Presley from 1969 until his death in 1977: Glen D. Hardin on piano, James Burton on lead guitar, Jerry Scheff on bass, and Ronnie Tutt on drums. Male background vocalists, some of whom also joined in on guitar, were Bruce Springsteen, Tom Waits, Elvis Costello, Jackson Browne, J.D. Souther and Steven Soles. The female background vocalists were k.d. lang, Jennifer Warnes and Bonnie Raitt.
All looking at him adoringly. The musicians' musician.

So far apart
But only the lonely
Know why
I cry
Only the lonely

Know the heartaches I've been through
Only the lonely
Know I cry and cry for you
Maybe tomorrow
A new romance
No more sorrow
But that's the chance
You gotta take
If your lonely heart breaks

It's absolutely amazing that if you watch this entire show you see the love and respect everyone had for Roy, they also had a great time in the making of this phenomenal performance, thank you for posting
This comment really resonated with me. He was such a loved and respected musical legend. He clearly brought so much happiness to all of the people here in the video and all of his listeners.
A Black & White Night is the greatest Roy Orbison concert there is. I still remember watching it on a series on concerts called "Cinemax Sessions", on the pay channel that also earned the nickname "Skinemax", because of their "Friday After Dark" programming, where they showed a lot of sexploitation flicks. (This was during my formative years, so I watched both.......and I'm NOT ashamed).
Actually, the "Cinemax Sessions" were a lot of GREAT shows. I wish someone would release them on video.
At times, Bruce Springsteen almost embarrasses himself with his doe eyes on Roy. Obviously, even stars can be fans.
He doesn't need dancers and rockets like the Superbowl entertainers. Minimal artist out there in glasses, a dark suit, a guitar and just has the audience hanging on every word.
Exactly. That’s the sign of a major talent.
Well, check out the band. They didn’t hurt none.
I can’t believe this piece of art last only 2:34 ☹️, I wouldn’t mind to listen 10 minutes Roy Orbison playing this lovely song…😊
I was a WRAAF in the Airforce in Adelaide when I saw him perform. A group of us got together and saw his show. He could hold the audience in the palm of his hand. A Legend!
Saw Roy in Portland, Oregon. Superlative concert...he played & sang every song from his catalog that mattered, he thrilled and transfixed the audience with a golden voice that had not dimmed - not even by one note...!
Just about a month later, "The Voice" passed away. To this day, I still have both my ticket stub & my memories!
OMG NO WAY ME TOO but didn't keep my stub. Him and Elvis no others come close.
No one made singing sound as natural as Roy Orbison, so pure across all of his exceptional range. A totally unique and unmistakeable voice.
It's incredible isn't it? Just sends you off to paradise ❤
Elvis !!!!
@@ITILIIElvis has said that Roy was the greatest singer.
I love this song, it's magic!
The reaction of the crowd when they realize, here they came to pay respects and hear the voice of days long ago, then they are there again. It's really him. It's really still him. Wish I could have been there but the recording does do it justice.
I’m 16 and I wish I was there, was born in the wrong gen all my favourite artists are dead or elderly
Sung effortlessly - a talent in and of himself.
He’s hardly moving his mouth and his beautiful voice is just so strong.
Roy Orbison war einer größten Sänger überhaupt, mit einer sagenhaften Stimme.
Er hat sehr viele gute Titel gesungen. Seine Musik war einfach großartig.
It was once said that Elvis reckoned Roy had the most perfect pitched voice he had ever heard and I total agree with him
I’m still listening March 31 2024 from my ability to listen to him 70 years later ❤😂😊🇺🇸👏👏👏🖐️🖐️
One of the great period songs from that era. There will always be lonely people but the song and its arrangement are emblematic of the music of that era.
Backed by Elvis Costello, Bonnie Raitt, Jackson Browne, K D Lang and many others I knew but could not name. What a beautiful performance!
This is real music
What a fantastic voice!
Roy's tenor voice was incomparable - still is. He can soar up to those high notes so effortlessly.
This guy does not falter in any note
I just love how chuffed Springsteen looks to be playing for The Big O. He's looking around like "Can you believe this?"
I have always loved this song, it has helped me in difficult time of loneliness.
It’s a good song . I don’t think any artist of today could captivate his audience the way Roy did.
Agreed. Since you now have to sexy to be a famous artist, the most talented people are undoubtedly passed over in favor of the nice looking ones.
One of the most respected musicians of all time. He was a legend amongst the legends. Had once in a lifetime voice. What a humble man and so much tragedy in his life. Believe it or not Johnny Cash was his best friend
I do ,78 years old but still love that song, greetings from the Netherlands!
Hello friend, how are you doing today
We heard the 'Word" went out,,'",Roy O. is having a get together & would like You to show",,,R & R STARS dropped what they were doing and Flew to be with this Original R & R Legend,,

It was beautiful!
Thats a HELL of a band!!! When ELVIS says you are the GREATEST singer, that says it all
I am currently listening on this video on my home made 1976 speakers. The each contain one 15" woofer, two mid-rage drivers, and 4 tweeters. You have no idea how good they sound.

I'm not an emotional guy, but why do I feel like crying whenever I hear this song?....
It strikes a cord deep in the human psyche doesn't it?........every human being has felt the pain of loneliness at some point in their life.
