I'm from the North too, and I know the stereotypes are just purely wrong, but I must confess that I wasn't expecting anything of this Resort in the North, I was shocked and I screamed very loudly because I live in France and this was exactly my plan for my country.

    I was following Mohamed's intelligent response to the interview and felt he spoke great with the point on the situation with living overseas, just until he mentioned "the mindset" of Nigerians as the drawback to them contributing back to their country. At that point, I would disagree for sure, knowing that most who had travelled didn't have families or fathers as wealthy as his to buy up or acquire pieces of lands. Like he mentioned, nothing that's been made as profit from the resort has ever been used or touched but rightly re-invested back to the business, showing his family must and does surely have other source/sources of income plus he was schooled in London as well. Most other Nigerians are still busy trying to even build a home in their community for their families or parents from the job they're working abroad. Others are sacrificing to train their siblings, even as others have decided to totally move out their families from Nigeria due to the harsh conditions they know they're in. Well, obviously, there are a lot of factors I could point out on here but for the time, I am unable to do so. All, the same, it's commendable to know such a beautiful project does exist currently in Kano and Nigeria. It is one we should all be proud of for sure as a progressive people.

However, while you're focusing on the rich people, my argument was rather based on the poor Nigerians who had to travel out to earn a living and who haven't been able to do the same thing as the interview guest (Mohammed) is currently doing. So, I am saying that most of the struggling, poor Nigerians haven't the resources or opportunities he's had; and even when they make as much money, they are mostly weighed down by the constant pressures from family and siblings alike. All the same, we'd praying and hoping that more people would be inspired by his endeavours to begin doing even just a little, as it is ofcourse, one step at a time...lol

    Welcome back. Your guest shocked me when he said “the whole world went to Dubai in the month of December.” Imagine that. I can guarantee you that a significant percentage of those visitors were Africans or of African descent. Information is power. Hopefully this video will reach some of them and show them that there are better options available on the continent. Why go to Dubai and waste all that money when you can have a similar (or far better) experience right here on the African Continental for A FRACTION OF THE COSTS ?

      People will go for holidays outside Africa not because they don't know that African has a lot of beautiful places to visit but, because they have inferiority complex or like to show off. Some people believe that western world is way better than African world. They like telling people that they bought something abroad or just came back from holiday abroad. Tell me, how can our economy grow if you don't support yours? What they don't know is that Westerners make so much money off us and they enjoy coming over so people can never be grateful of something except they suffer to get it.

    This is another part of Nigeria that people don't know about but is being shown to the world by no other person but Wode. Most Nigeria throws their energies into negatives, calling Northerners all kinds of negative names that nothing good can come out of the North. Well those people can see with their own eyes what u can achieve when u come together. The Southern Nigerians under estimates what the northerners are capable of and you do so at your peril. I always canvass for one Nigeria but fellow Nigerians, Igbos and Yorubas always castigate me. This is beautiful, just look at that and that's in a state in the Northern part of Nigeria. Gosh! That country is so Blessed. Something new comes out of that country every day.

    • @sweetlemonade6925
      @sweetlemonade6925 Před 3 lety +1

      I'm a Southerner from Edo state, and I absolutely love the people in the north! Before I used to have negative judgement about the northerners, calling them backward, dangerous, poor and oppressive. I wanted Nigeria to split into south and north, thinking that the north was the one holding Nigeria from progressing. But since last year 2020 (especially during the end sars protests), I remembered that the northerners are suffering as much as we in the south. Northerners are also victims to the current corrupt government just like southerners. The only ones benefiting from the corrupt system are the elite, both in the north and south and outside Nigeria. Since then I've come to recognise the north as one with the south. The south needs the north (agriculture and industries), while the north needs the south (business hubs, entertainment industry and technology). I believe in one Nigeria. You are right, Nigeria has soooo much potential.

    That point is very valid! "We don't appreciate what we have".
    However, this is a very thin line. I know for a fact that Nigerians are very passionate about Nigeria and our anger/unmoved attitude usually stems from the pain of its under-fulfillment and not necessarily unpatriotism.
    Our leaders and elites set a trend of romanticizing everything foreign, they also do not love and respect the citizens whom they lead, hence the middle class aspires and ends up doing the same so it becomes a cycle. It takes having a good leader with a fresh perspective to change everything. Think about our music, it didn't use to be cool to proudly associate or vibe to them some 25 years ago, now all we want to listen to is African music. It will take some time, but we will get there.
    The first sign of this happening is when we have a leader who can bring the whole of Nigeria together, and we no longer play divisive politics. Imagine if our president could go on vacation in Southern Nigeria, tour private resorts, patronize private hotels, meet with local communities and so on, governors and billionaire kids exploring food, culture and commerce outside their geo, within Nigeria, these are very easy things to achieve and that's all it takes to influence the rest of Nigeria.

      If the constitution of Nigeria is Amended and allows every region or states to control 70 / 80% of its resources plus develop its region or state, I tell you, Lagos and some other states would have shown other states the example and possibility of building and having a 24hours electricity supply.
      But now, every electricity generated in Ughelli, Benin, Egbin-Lagos etc, rather than first feed the area, it is put on the national grid for all with no proper distribution network making it difficult for the generated power to fail due to poor distribution.
      And the distribution has been a problem because the country is massive.

    Northern Nigeria was quite the experience. I remember the Kano wall and pounding fabric at the dye pits. Being a jamaican 🇯🇲, it was very different, as the desert became more visible the further north we went. We went as far north as Machina, which had some beautiful rocks. Across the north, we saw many exotic animals/pets in what I can only classify as mansions. This is the Nigeria we hardly hear about or see. To me the people are humble and welcoming.
