There's still quite a bit of things to do before phase one of our renovation is complete but at least we are able to LIVE in the house again while we figure the rest out. Keep the original wood paneled wall. It’s so beautiful and I don’t feel like it clashes with the rest of the wood tones in your space. I feel like you can definitely make it work with the right furniture and decor
Perhaps a dining table that is not wood. It’s WAY easier to get a different table for the dining room and keep the OG feature wall.

For the kitchen wooden wall feature, a large tapestry could be hung, covering the majority of the wall, while being enhanced by the wood wall background. Just a thought!

That’s exactly what I would do . Use the wall as a frame. Please don’t remove or paint it.
Agree, please consider keeping the original mahogany wood feature wall - it is stunning! A large tapestry and/or art work would be a good fix to minimize the wood on wood on wood.
please don't get rid of the mahogany panels. Maybe hang a tapestry on the wall to break up the wood some.

Too much wood tones? Well I’d keep the original pannels and change the wood table with a marble table and a big rug for the floor. But it’s your house and you will end up with something beatiful like always. About 1st world problems... sometimes when I feel ’’depressed’’ for some reason or a little problem I have, I realize how privileged and lucky I am for thinking that this particular situation is even a problem.
I love how you are concerned about your dogs’ being happy and comfortable in strange or new surroundings. I moved with dogs and cats. Their comfort is as important as yours or a child’s. So glad that you are happy with your renovations. The house is beautiful and you and Andrew will have it just right before you know it.
You’re feeling better because you are home. There’s nothing quite like being in your own home with your own stuff and having a comforting routine. Your ceilings and floors turned out beautiful. Such a warm, beautiful home you two have created.
Mahogany is very close to becoming extinct. Today, in Brazil, it is forbidden to extract native mahogany from the Amazon. I would think soooo hard before taking these panels off
So happy for you and Andrew that you are finally back in your home - no matter what anyone says the stress from the upset in your routine is very real. Even though you know its temporary it still takes its toll. The beams and the floor look beautiful. God bless Andrew for tackling the task of all that sanding; that is such a tedious job. Things are starting to come together nicely. Love your desk!! Adding the accessories around the sofa in your bedroom seating area actually improves the impression of the scale of the sofa so it doesn't appear as small. I'm obsessed with that vintage desk! And BTW, love the top you are wearing!!!!

Everything looks fabulous, Arvin. I like the slightly darker floors to avoid the matchy, matchy look, since you have wood ceilings. If it is possible to put a clear matte protective coat on the ceiling that does not change the look, that is my suggestion. The wood ceiling just looks so beautiful. Yes, to the felt pads!

We spent 2.5 years building and finally moved into our home in Nov. We decided to do landscaping in the front and back and it took 2 months instead of the 3 weeks we anticipated. I was completely unprepared for the emotional toll took - especially after not really recovering from the past several years of the build. I 💯 relate to the drain you have felt/feel. It’s mentally and physically draining no matter how rewarding the end result.

Love all the hard work that you have put into your reno so far. As for the walnut wall, take your time. It's a precious thing to have as much original workmanship and history as possible. Live with it for at least a year. Ideas will come and go. When you find the right answer you will know. Same with the furniture placement. In the meantime enjoy the heck out of all of it .
