- How to take apart a GE topload washer or more specifically, how to take the front and top panel off on a GE top load washer. Our washing machine started banging a little when in final spin. I found that one of the dampening straps had ripped. Will need to get a new one. We filmed this video quick since I was disassembling it anyway.

I suggest removing the control panel and disengaging it from the top instead of risking breaking the lid taps.

What do you do, when front, wont pop open, even though both clips are disengaged?

Thanks for the video on showing how to open the washer panel. My washer was banging noises, and I checked all 4 straps and they looked good. Why else would the washer tub be banging around like that?
It is possible that one of the suspension rods, that the tub is suspended from has gotten bent. Even a small bend will do it. The easiest thing could be the ball and socket that holds the rods. They are supposed to move freely, there is grease in the socket, if the grease is sticky that can cause it. If they are damaged at all replace them. If the grease is nasty clean thoroughly and regrease. It takes strong hands to lift the rod out of place to repair. Make sure to do one rod at a time or you will have to lift every thing with one hand.

Hey Aaron! Are you talking about the rubber straps? ( amzn.to/2UDEsLq ) I think only GE washers have them.. But I may be wrong. Did you visually check and try to find where the banging is happening (look for scuffs or little dents)
Yeah I popped those front tabs and it doesn't loosen anything. Idk.

Hey thanks for the video. I have a different model (Model# GTW335ASNWW) but it's also a ge top loader. Is it safe to assume that the front panel is similar as far as the 2 clips in roughly the same position?
Yes, I can confirm, with the top loaders they're all in roughly the same place.

I've had the GE repair person at our house 3 times and it's still not fixed. You couldn't pay me to buy a GE washing machine again

How about washing machines that don't have a front panel, it just goes all the way around to the back & is seemingly impossible to deal with ugggghhh
Yeah. A typically over-priced piece of junk constructed of inferior parts that aren't intended to last long.
I've had mine for 10 years and it's just now having issue
