This song should be titled, 'Illicits Smiles'. How can anyone Listen and not smile, bop your head or even get up and dance. One of the most wonderful songs written to make one fell good for a few minutes. I just wish there were so many more like this.

Luckily, there is no such thing as "the best horn section on the plant". Because there are several of those ;-) Heavytones were mentioned already (probably not known by many), but you should check out also Tim Akers & The Smoking Section, or Cory Wong, or Santa Fe and the Fat City Horns. IMHO they are all playing in the highest league. I am a million times grateful that despite the maintream chart music there are still bands like this carrying on the tradition of great horn section music and doing it in such a perfect manner!!

It's a sad state of affairs when a Russian dad band doing covers of 70's pop songs is light years better than anything on the radio in the last 20 years.
You have to remember the 1970s were historical. Those who grew up as teenagers in that era were treated to a special, never-to-be-repeated event.
But thank God they're doing it!

You know musically, we live in the greatest era for music. In the 70s when this came out, we would never hear a talented group of Russians try to perform it. Today with CZcams, we can hear what they can do for this song. Fantastic.

Saw them tonight in norwalk ct. The drummer was amazing annd at one point had the stage to himself for 10 mins or so and did some amazing things. These guys are just wonderful
I can't express how grateful I am for the dedication Leonid and Friends have to musical perfection. I can't get over that they are singing in a foreign language, playing music from bands they've never seen perform live, and even without any musical score to reference. And they are doing this with pure joy. Man. I love this group. I have become an ardent promoter of Leonid and Friends, and I hope and pray they keep going. So many of miss this kind of musicianship! What this group is doing is more than a breath of fresh air; it is life-giving for some of us. Please come to northern Minnesota soon! (But if you come anywhere within 500 miles from where I live, I'll do my best to be there. BTW, I am purchasing L&F music on ITunes now. This band must be supported!)

I grew up with this wondrous sounds/music in the 70's and they hit it perfectly with a sense of passion that transcends borders, skin colour, ethnicity and everything that segregates the human race into Colonialist Social Policies - Race, Religion, Political, Economics and other equally humiliating aspects!
Music frees the soul and the spirit of these incredibly talented musicians, singers, players and superb ambassadors of hope(through music)!

You're right about saying so many "miss this kind of musicianship". Plus - yes, it is amazing to think they are singing in a foreign language and do it so perfectly. What awesome talent - I never get tired of watching them and am glad you've become "an ardent promoter". Being such an ardent fan of L&F, myself, I really liked your post.

Music transcends language
They DO have a musical score to reference: in the credits it mentions the member of the band who does all the transcriptions. Now, HE doesn't have a score to reference, and it is a colossal feat to transcribe all those parts, to get all the nuances, and not miss ANYTHING. Sometimes the original masters of these songs are available (that is, the studio recordings where you can isolate a track, making it much easier to transcribe) but those are rare rare rare and usually kept in locked vaults.
That said: they are spot-on.

I have watched this video at least a 100 times and I am truly amazed at the sound quality that brings every note to life in clarity so much so you can hear and focus on every instrument and none are lost. This band is so incredibly talented and I hope they return on tour to a venue near me to hear them live. Great job to all of these talented musicians and singers!

@@megibashova2067 Oh no doubt the original is best (Earth Wind and Fire wrote and performed amazingly and their version is still my favorite). What I meant is that Leonid and Friends did an amazing job at covering this song. No offense was ever intended. I am just impressed by the musical skills of these musicians and the vocals as well (noting many of the band cannot speak English fluently yet learn to sing so well in English. Ksenia Buzina (lead female vocalist, sings in no less than seven languages. They put the work into the music they cover.
This isn't live but a recording with all the bells & whistles. Wether they recorded it live as seen & then worked on or this is a lipsynch to the final produced recording which this is I would say. As good as the original but they need to make it their own & different. But great in a concert. Tried to buy their cds but at £30 it's a no.

I was transfixed by the look of pure, absolute joy on the faces of the string section. They are obviously accomplished pros, but it looked like they were having so much fun with the song. So much sucks these days, but I find the universal human spirit shines through with music. Thank you, Leonid, for putting together this magnificent collection of musicians to bring so much happiness to a disturbed world. Seeing you live has now taken a top spot on my bucket list.

This is Igor Dzhavad Zadeh on drums. Great rock drummer. But Igor don`t like funk and jazz. As I see, he did this for friends
Amazing how the voices of the vocalists come so close to the real ones. The musicians are spot on and hit every note better than the original. Sound job on mix work also. If they come to the States I would buy tickets to go see them

Agreed. All are dynamite with Ksenia's voice instantly identifiable as she takes the vocals up a notch. In a way she makes me think of Michael McDonald on certain Steely Dan recordings.
