I used to have a Leon TDI 180BHP with ECU tube to 220 BHP, I swapped to the cupra 290 because even whilst doing 340 miles a week. Missed having Petrol if I'm honest. I've lost 10mpg on average to about 38mpg, droce the TDI like a madman lol and its costing me £8 a week more, both got/get V-Power fuel.
All about you want from it really, I think the higher ceiling on the cupras EA888 engine makes it worth it for me.

Agree with all your thoughts these are rapid, perfect daily IMO, not many cars you meet on a day-to-day basis can hang with them and almost none in the sub £6k range. 45mpg easy on a run, map straight to 370-380bhp (with the DPF off) and can get 4.2s 0-60mph. A nice bonus with the mpg is you can have a nice spirited drive for only a few £.
New turbos and R90 fuel pump and you'll be knocking on 500bhp with the right map, no trouble, can't wait!

This is an amazing car. I was looking at one of these but a 535d 2016 facelift as I'm a family man. I think it will be a while before diesels are extinct because electric cars are still expensive and the supporting infrastructure will take time before it all works together. A friend of mine even said he knows someone who works at the National Grid. The person said they are not ready if everyone switches to EV cars, even by 2030. They do not have sufficient capacity to support mass charging from every household. Don't be fooled by the charging points you see all over the place either. Some of them don't work so range anxiety is still a big issue with these EVs. Also, petrol prices are rising now with this new E10 petrol and if your car was made before 2000, you'll have to use E5 petrol - super unleaded in today's language. So quite frankly, I prefer to run a diesel for now. You can't beat a 300bhp plus car that gives you 40mpg. You just can't!
