The new i-864 form that expires 12-31-23, does not have interactive form fields like previous editions. This was purposefully done by Homeland Security so that people would have a harder time filling it out, hoping it would cause some people to make mistakes, which in-turn, lets them deny more cases. This was a small retaliatory action from Homeland Security since they are understaffed (due to the pandemic), which contributed to them getting sued for being too slow with cases.

The lady was very detailed however on some critical points input was not provided to make it very clear. To be specific on the page 4 - part 6, line 7 current income, I was assuming for the amount it should be entering the gross income stated in your tax return of last year, but it is not. She takes the current year salary 47K and that is very different from the 83k from John's taxes prior year. Very concern with my case because due to COvid 19 I Iost my job in the middle of July /20 and I I am receiving unemployment help. Hi, thank you very much for this video! I just have two question: I'm petitioning only my wife and I'm the only one sponsor, so can I use I-864EZ form? And I filed taxes only the last year because before I was the full time student, so can I write a letter-statement explaining that I was a student and didn't file taxes and it will be sufficient, right? Thank you for your answer in advance!

Thank you for sharing the information. I have a questions:
1/ I just open my business starting January this year of 2021. How can I calculate my current individual income? Part 6 -7.
Do I need to make the Profit and Loss statement base on the Bank statement to determine the current anticipated income for this year.
2/ If my current individual income does not meet the 125% poverty guidelines. Can I use my current property to meet this income requirement? This property is my primary living and the only one I have.
Thanks so much for the advise.

Question, in order to file this form, is it required I mail in the original copy? Considering original signatures etc. It looks like the website allows for uploads so not sure why they would not accept a scanned copy of the forms. Thank you :)

I have a question, I am recently separated from the military and am back in the States. My wife is still in Italy and we are preparing things for the interview. They are requiring both of our "original birth certificates or certified copies" if I email a copy and have her bring the printout will they accept that?

Thank you so much! Your videos are so informative. I have a quick question. Our case is f4. The petitioner(sponsor) filed taxes married jointly but only her income is completely enough to sponsor us. In that case, does her spouse need to file i864a because of taxes jointly? Because I heard someone said, if the sponsor filed taxes jointly, whether she uses her spouse income or not, her spouse have to file i 864a, is it correct? Thanks in advance.

14:14 Part 5. sponsor’s household size. Actually if I mark 1 for questions 1,2, and 3, my household size on Q8 is “2” which is correct for me and my spouse. In the video you tell us we should not add a “1” on Q 3 because it would reflect a household size of “3” and increase the amount of money to meet poverty line. Am I correct or what should I do? It contradicts the video and the video is showing my exact same case: husband and wife.

Thank you so much for the video and the help! I had one question. My wife recently went from OPT to H1B visa as of last month. I'm a full time student with a part time job. I don't meet the income requirement but we lived together(for over a year) and she does... can I use her income in the household income to meet this requirement? Or will we need a co-sponsor? This year will be our first time filing as married but we haven't filed yet.

She filed for my brother and sister who are over 21, precisely 28 and 33 respectively and unmarried. My sister has a son who is 7 months old. Will the child be able to follow through with the mother and should box #2 be checked in part 3? Let me know. Thanks again for your kindness.

Does the amount vary based on the process type? Consular Processing VS Adjustment of Status? Whereas consular processing, the spouse will be abroad and not in need of financial support for when they arrive they are able to work. Does it make a difference?

Thank you for this video i have 2 questions, im using a joint sponsor (she is my mother) will she need to fill out this from as well as the I-864A.
Also, im stuggling to fill out the household size, there is me, my wife(the intending immigrant) my mother (the joint sponsor) then there is my step brother and step farther, both of them do not depend on me and are not on my tax returns so im unsure as to which category they will fall into. Thank you.

Hi! I have a question about Part 3 with the family members. When you said 'make copies of the I-864 that I completed for each family member', does that mean I have to make another I-864 with a different Principal Immigrant name (name according to each family member)? Or just a literal photocopy of the same I-864? Thank you so much.

Hello and thank you so much for doing this. I’m filing for my mom can I use my 2018 tax informations on the Affidavit ? It’s an obligation to put three most recent years tax information or just put 2018 tax information? Also do I need to mail a copy of the Affidavit form to my mom in Togo? She lives in Togo and the NVC already send her information to the embassy of US in Togo.

Thank you for the great vid! Quick Question, if the joint sponsor is a US citizen but not a family member then what should we put in the 'reltationship' box? also as they do not live in our household ill only have to include the joint sponsor and immigrant and not the primary sponsor in the house hold and vise versa.

Thank you so much for the video all the info is very helpful! My wife is filling the i864 for me. I'm already living in US. For my understanding we can not use my income as a person counted in the household, correct? I'm not supposed to work even though I have a ITIN number and file taxes together. If so, if we file taxes together what info do we need to type on the Part 6 - 24 a, b & c? Only her income or both since we file the taxes together. Lastly, just to confirm (I saw similar question below) If my daughter, not living with us is going to be our joint sponsor, does she need to use the i864 o i864a? Thank you in advance!

My question is, I have two kids from my last marriage and my kids receive every month's child support, can that count on " My current individual annual income"?
if it is a yes, I have to add my kids' names on Person 1,2, etc, etc?
thanks for your help and stay safe.

    Jacob,
Thank you so much for this video. I am filing form I-864. On page 4, it says "Income you are using from any other person who was counted in your household size". My question is that, am I obligated to list my wife's income as well for this form and filling form I-864A as well ? My income alone support the poverty guideline.
My other question is that, on page 5, it says list the total income. I usually file jointly with my wife, so do I mention the total gross income for both of us ?, or just myself in specific?. I know that I am going to attach the transcript, however, I just want to know if my wife has to be part of this.
    Regards,
    Ismail Elshalh
