Man, what can I say... I've grown up with baseball but not like most who have baseball as a national sport so I only ever got to watch highlight shows as a kid on cable TV with ESPN when I was visiting my uncle (because he had cable TV) and then later on when I moved to the UK in the early 2000s there was practically no coverage until many years later. Thank the CZcams Algorithm gods for sending me your way because I watched the highlights of Kendrick's GS and wondered why I hadn't heard of him before. You've given me a history lesson I've been dying to hear about for years. What an underdog, what a character and stoicism on his part to keep persevering. Having recently got back into the game after a 22 year hiatus I broke my shoulder sliding into 3rd and my only fix is CZcams videos and highlights. This has given me new vigour to keep going once I'm healed. 38 years young playing a kid's game. Can't get much better than that. Thank you. You've earned my sub. What a great vid. Instantly made me a fan of him. Knew he was a good player and now I know he’s a good guy who worked hard and deserved it too

I was so hyped watching that homerun then. Now watching this video makes me happier seeing him hit that homerun

Stories like that are awesome. He basically made his way by sheer will but thru it all he outlasted many by hard work, determination and love of the game. That World Series Title was an amazing feat. That Houston team was really good and not able to win one game at home was unreal. Doubt that has or ever will happen again.

Howie Kendrick is just one of those guys in sports that you simply cannot dislike.

Rangers' fan here. First of all, what a great storybook ending. What every kid dreams of doing. Second, I can't help but notice all the '23 Rangers Easter Eggs hiding in this video. Andrew Heaney, Corey Seager cameos, and Max Scherzer being the starting pitcher of that game 7 against the Astros, the first time in history in any sport where the home team lost every game of a 7 game series. The only other time it's happen being the '23 ALCS, also with the Astros being the losing team, and also with Mad Max starting for the winning team. Also, Kendrick's grand slam after going 0-4 reminded me of Garcia doing the exact same thing.

What a great story and role model for young ball players trying to make it and think there is a chance if they put the work in!

I never knew really much about Kendrick other than he was one of the couple of hundred "hall of very good" players. Baseball really has some great stories. I hope he gets at least one vote when he appears on the ballot.
