oh la la been enjoying some Bonis music,,, another one that needs to be heard more, music with French charm :)
An excellent performance of a wonderful piece of music by a neglected composer. If CZcams is a valuable resource, it is because it makes it possible for very rare music to be uploaded and 'saved' for posterity. May Mélanie Hélène Bonis have her moment in the sun.
This is a revelation. I can see why Saint-Saëns was impressed by this music. Something shockingly bold and unique from a true woman of taste. Especially a classmate of Debussy too.
i know this quartet of Mel Bonis and i like it a lot; her music is dreamy, exquisite. The fourth movement is really beautiful. Thank you for this performance
Thanx for plauing and posting one of my favourite compositions of all times.. I love this quartet a lot, all movements, with a special plus-plus-plus for the 3rd movement.. The way she uses non european scales shows how modern she was in 1927.. Almost jazz..
As much as I absolutely love Mel Bonis and find this piece incredibly beautiful, it's not modern... These scales had been around since the turn of the century, twelve-tone technique had been invented several years before 1927, jazz and Latin American rhythms had inspired classical music, the Rite of Spring was written in 1913…
Excellent video edition
WONDERFUL!
