The F4U-1D was recently dropped down to a battle rating of 3.0 in RB. I love this plane and thought it would be great to fly a few rounds with Cobey, Stick, and Sturmling. Thanks for watching the video!

5:29 - 5:30 ; I saw a corsair flying with an F-18 and F-35 at an airshow in September and above the roar of the afterburners on the two jets, you could still hear the whistling.

You make war thunder look so fun in these vids i almost want to re-install it, but then i remember running out of SL and having to play some low tier grind vehicle for 20 hours just so i can play one game with a plane I actually enjoy. after that the thought of playing this game ever again leaves my head instantly
This is one of my favorite planes in the game, all the Corsairs feel so nice to fly in all modes

Fun fact - The Kazoo air intake was patented in 1947 by Sir William Kazoo as an aerial performance aid. Not too many people know this.

Edit: A little tip that you can ignore or not when attacking a plane tilt in an opposite direction and swing wide to cut them off for an attack if you can’t catch them or are being out maneuvered. 🙂

There really is no substitute for R-2800-8W.
I read the whistle was caused by the aerodynamics of the wings affecting the wind passing over that interacted with the barrels to make the whistling noise.
Those old carriers desperately need an update! Also the random AA is almost as OP like the airfield ones.

The F4U did NOT have a turbocharger. The R-2800 type engines utilized a mechanically driven internal centrifugal type supercharger. The whistling Desth was a result of airflow through the internal wing positioned oil coolers/inter coolers.
