- Not one of the easiest cars to work on, this Fiat Stada needed new valves and a cam belt, due to the cam belt breaking, enjoy the video, thanks for subscribing until the next one, Safe Motoring.

well filmed n good explanations on point I come across this while I am battling w e same engine timing but well said I hv to get the timing tool set
Great video. It helped me a lot when replacing the valve oil seals on my Fiat Stilo 1.6 16v !!!
Thanks for the support Zvonko, greatly appreciated.
Great learning experience, thank you.
Very nice video - my Strada didn't break the cambelt, but the previous owner abused the living daylights out of it so it just died mid-drive. Luckily I was going at about 60kPh in 5th gear when disaster struck so only the intake valves were slightly bent. When I had it stripped to check why it died I found out that the previous owner had let it overheat and never fixed it, hence my having performance issues since day one. I'm still not 100% sure why it bent valves since the timing belt didn't break and there's no visible wear on the belt itself, but I suspect something got between the sprocket and the belt which made it skip some teeth without actually damaging it. The plastic around the cambelt was quite damaged so anything is possible. I'm waiting for the head to get back from the engineers then I'm putting it back together. Doing it myself, since I almost had a stroke when they told me it would cost R15000...
Nice video to learn new knowledgee👍👍👍
@@vehiclemaintenanceandrepai3790 you welcome sir i really appreciate your shares and tips..it is not easy to become a mechanic.. cause i myself also a mechanic still alot things to learn and not so much people willing to teach in my area anyway..all i can do is learning from youtube thats where i saw you video .. thanks for the knowledge sir
Great video
Hey can you help me out figuring out, if I put on the cylinder head while the crank is not top dead, then it wont go to top dead center. this is what happened and i'm trying to figure out why my crank shaft wont turn 360, is it because i installed the cylinder head while crank was not at top dead? is there anyother way i can still set top dead center without having to remove the cylinderhead?
HI can you please explain, I have a palio 1.2, change the block. but the starter did not fit. The mechanic I used can explain. the thin starter fits. I wana know why. old block 2003 takes fat starter, new block 2005-2008 takes thin starter
I am still confuse on this issue
Hi sir like your video, just wanna know where we find a new top for a 2009 strada. And how can we can fix a skeemed top please and thank you.
Motor engineers will be able to skim a cylinder head to find a new head for the Fiat you have to search the internet.
nice work sir very good!!! i have a question sir the hole on gear box isnt have any cap on it?? so that nothing can fall in it (a bolt or anything)?? i think is risky if something fall in it . its from factory without a cap or a cover???
Hi Dacozzu, you are correct, there is a plastic/rubber cover to prevent debris and other objects entering the bell housing, thanks for your support, it is greatly appreciated.
Gary
Can you perhaps help with teeming mark alignment on a fiat siena 1.7 td
Hi, Wiets I do not think the petrol and diesel versions are the same, do a google search on the diesel motor there are a few good ones.
What cause the timing belt to break down continuously in fiat strada 1.6 ELX engine?
Hello Abner, a good question I will answer best I can.
It could just be a matter of poor quality parts used.
The tension on the belt could be wrongly set, (too tight or too loose) in both cases the belt will be under too much stress and break prematurely.
The gears the belt runs must be inspected properly for sharp edges caused by knocking that could prematurely wear the belt as it is made of a rubber compound and is prone to be cut by sharp edges leading to early failure.
When the cam belt gets soaked with engine oil due to cam and crankshaft seals leaking, this will also weaken the belt and cause breakage.
And of course, driver abuse as some folks are just hard on cars.
Although these answers may not be exhaustive, it is the main ones to cause untimely wear in my experience.

Where can I find the special tools for the Fiat palio weekend 1.6 16v 2003 model
I have one for sale, R1500, alternatively try Diesel Electric 0217065552
The 1st and 4th piston is at bottom dead center on my car when the mark on the flywheel is pointing to 0...what could be the reason for this?
The flywheel was removed at some stage maybe when the clutch was done and not put back correctly.
I very great video, Can fix my Sienna 1,6 16v?
Thanks for the su[port Tsehepo, I am happy you found the video useful.
Dear sir. My brother is struggling with his strada bakkie with the same cams. Please get in contact with him.
how dow u locke the crank shaft in place
Remove the starter to access the flywheel and lock it by putting an old screwdriver in between the teeth to lock the crank and prevent it from turning.

Where can one get that special tool?
I have 2 sets, 1 is for sales R2000, contact me on 0724867810, if you are interested.
Wow Garry, that was incredible. The owner actually paid to get it repaired, must have cost a fortune. Would it not be easier to scrap the vehicle? As it is old, instead of wasting money fixing again and again with little joy.
@All Joy It's already been established that the owner lacks common sense
@@vehiclemaintenanceandrepai3790 Agreed
Great workmanship
Considering I got quoted R15000 and my Strada cost me R75000 I really don't see how scrapping it would be worthwhile. In addition, I decided to do the repairs myself, which turned out to cost me less than R6000. Not everyone's circumstances are the same.
great vid
Thanks
@@vehiclemaintenanceandrepai3790 I cant turn the crank to top dead center, it gets stuck, but it was turning freely before I installed the cylinder head, idk what might be the problem
I think they may have over-skimmed your cylinder head Lehlohonolo, now the valves are touching the pistons when you turn the engine, or the engine is not timed properly, did you use the special tools specified to do the job correctly?
@@vehiclemaintenanceandrepai3790 i used the tools, it touches even without the cams on. i think it may have been over skimmed😭
Thanks glad you liked it
There must be marks on the top pulleys

great job ! i know that this engine mounted on fiat Brava has a special kind of bolt pattern for the head and the camshafts, it's called ribe. they are almost like torx, only that they are square ar the top of the rays.
Yes, I have seen that Dragos, thanks for your interaction and for supporting my channel with your visit, it is greatly appreciated and means a lot to me.
Gary
Why dont you show the marks on the top pulleys not everyone has got the lock tools for the cams
You should not attempt a job without the correct tools, this comes from a 35+ year mechanic veteran.
@@vehiclemaintenanceandrepai3790 old school guy i came right anyway thank you for your reply
Great I am glad you could complete the job.
