Fiat Punto head gasket failure strip down part #3

This video shows how I undo the head bolts and remove the head. I also look at the condition and signs of failure. This is purely a DIY strip down, so if you undertake this work yourself, do extensive research first.

Make sure you use a 6 not 12 point socket when removing the head bolts, saves a lot of heartache

It’s not a bad job to be honest. This was a strip down to replace the head gasket. But we felt the price and other elements of potential damage to the intake and overheat , we felt it was time to move it on.

A white plug is a sign of weak mixture. the one along is the right sort of colour. The outer two appear to be rich.

I would have cleaned head and replaced gasket and cleaned stems it's cheaper and like you said the others were ok.

I think you’re right, as it went, the car was sold and wasn’t repaired.

Appreciated , Thankyou. I’ll check out your channel. I’ve done head gaskets, but I wasn’t paying for it and the value of the car, wasn’t really worth it. There was other problems aswell.

Probably the rocker cover gasket, they fail often.
