@@johnwilliams911 Look at Old Forge Power in Pennsylvania. They have a lot of Detroit stuff. I’ve bought several things from them. Really nice to deal with.
Man I totally love each video of this thing, i think it sounds sweet,i love the little burble it has after coming off max throttle, probably the coolest little ol' forklift out there! Its a shame the 453s arent salvagable but at least you got some cool spare parts out of it.
Thanks, if one had to they could be rebuilt.:) They're in the same condition the little 2-53 was in. I'll tear them down when I have time and see what's good.:)
Little Jimmy is putting in some work. Any oil analysis on the 2-53 yet? Also, how does the 2-53 start when it’s cold with those 21:1 pistons? Do you need to use the measured ether shot?
Coming up on 30 hrs now and haven't sent out an oil sample yet.:) Starts really well and haven't had to use ether. I put a block heater in it and plug it in for 20 min or so when really cold. Running really nice, so happy I swapped it, might have to put a muffler on it though as very loud.:)
Awesome channel I got a 72 loadstar 1750with a 453 in it you think it's big enough or should i go bigger while the nose is off its got those butterfly hoods on it so kinda tough when put together . I was thinking bigger but?
Thanks, 6V53T would always be a better choice if you can find one. The 4-53T is a nice engine, but could use a little more power. I only really notice it in the mountains towing or loaded @ 12,000 lbs.
Picked up a 453 years ago for a project and never used it. The crank is in my front closet still in the bag from getting ground. I also have the dual pattern (gm and sae) bell housing and the recon gasket/bearing set.. Block and cylinder bores in great condition as is the head. You anywhere near Oregon?
@@detroitgarage9430 Normally aspirated. Only difference between normally aspirated and turbo is that the blower speed is cut in half on the turbo motor. I also have all shop manuals, 53 to 110. Have a new recon blower and a turbocharger that I think is in good shape.
@@kolsen6330 I'd be interested in the N blower and maybe the Turbo. Can you please email me some pictures of the blower and turbo? My email is emerald310@gmail.com.
Is all this stuff worth the trip, I think you thought so, so who am I to say otherwise. I probably would have done the same. You have the governor that you wanted, and the flywheel plus the housing(s). So yes, if my answer is worth anything at all, I think you got your worth of the cost of the trip. ( Especially when your labour rate is so cheap ! LOL! )
True, I think so.:) The governor and flywheels were worth the trip.:) I'll pull them apart when times available and see if the crank, cams, and timing gears are savable.:)
You have all the fun! Thanks for sharing.
Any parts are treasures at this point. Cranks, rods etc…. Getting some good work out of little Jimmy!! Thanks!
Very true.:)
Looking for a crank for a 453,thought you might have one for sale or know where to find one?
