    I was really curious on how these cooling towels were working and then you indicated menthol, which makes sense. Not actually making you cooler just blocking nerve transmission of your heat sensing ability. Lil man is getting big so fast! Glad to see he's healthy :) Keep up the great work you two... three!

      There’s also one reusable type that’s made out of some kind of silky, super-absorbing material. You just get it wet and drape it over your neck, and you feel cool for 20 mins or so. (Until it dries out.)

    • @pinkmagicali
      @pinkmagicali Před 4 lety +5

      I was wondering if it was like that. I’m glad they’ve got a reusable version. I’d worry about the packaging.
      I’d also be careful about using it on sensitive skin. I burnt my skin on a menthol based product once.

    • @mechasduo004
      @mechasduo004 Před 4 lety +3

      @@ThisMoth while this could be the case if it was pure menthol, which would cause a horrible chemical burn on the skin well before overheating became a concern, products like these are generally well diluted with water and provide the menthol cooling sensation mixed with evaporation (just like your sweat) and using it on portions of your body vs say bathing in it wont have a serious effect on overall body temp. As noted in an earlier reply, just be careful if you have sensitive skin. the lower the advertised temp (-2, -3 degrees C) the menthol dose is likely increasing.

    Another great video! You can find that instant ice pack in first aid kits. I didn’t bring one with me last trip to Tokyo because I also thought it would explode on the airplane. I had knee surgery before so I try to be prepared for all my walking. I love those packaged ice. Saved me! What I did when I needed to ice my knee on-the-go was to buy packaged ice that had a fully-sealed plastic container. One side was flat and soft so I could place it on my knee (covered by a pocket towel to protect my skin from the cold) while I held it by the plastic container that wasn’t cold to hold because all the ice slid to the soft side.
