@Chris Bly he should have but he may had his reasons. Without Teague, Ryan only has one back left that he can trust. Last thing he needs is 2 hurt backs.
@Chris Bly how is that relevant to what I am saying? Ryan doesn't know what he had in Sermon in a full game rep. Sermon has never had played in as a all-down back till as far as I can remember. Plus Ryan basically said that even though those passes were not being completed, they are a big part of the reason why they could run with Sermon as their only back. He had to pass even if Justin was hurt, so they could keep those linebacker and DBs off the line until 4th quarter came after wearing them down without the offensive line and Sermon burning out by the 4th.

@Chris Bly go ask a Sooner fan about Sermon. They probably can tell you why Ryan Day did what he did...especially when he is their only back they have trust. You want to burn him out before the forth and risk injury? Master injury is uncertain too. Fields had no choice but to pass...it was effective in other ways.
Sermon was being saved for the later part of the game. Is that so hard to understand?

@John Johnson Yeah but they made Fields look really bad which is an amazing feat.
They dropped 8 into coverage. First half stubbornness we now know is a thing. So is bad formations, but we have been saying that from the start. By bad formations I mean running to the short side (stretch plays) with 5 blockers against 8. Then wondering what is wrong with Henderson.
This game was crazy. Only other time I've seen anything like it is when Kenneth Walker put MSU on his back and ran absolutely wild on Michigan the year before last

@@y.a.8892 yea totally different style of blocking and they do a good job in pass coverage, Justin holds the ball too long often times which you can't expect them to give him 5 seconds on every play, especially on a blitz.. for what they've faced this season they've done a hell of a job
@@Maal7432 its definitely a team sport man. When a running back has a monster game, the entire o-line and even the receivers, Qb and the RB himself all accomplish that goal. The guys in the trenches are rarely recognized for their running backs going for 333 yards. I played RB myself and my dogs on my OLine were my boys, they got way more credit from me than I got. Every back knows he is where he is because of them.

Amazing, simply amazing. If Sermon had been given the rock more in the first half, he could have easily gained over 400 yards rushing, on this day... A record that would take centuries to break. But no need to get greedy. I'll take 331 and the win with much gratitude. Great game Trey Sermon. You shall now live forever in the Buckeye hall of legends.

Hey made it look like he was playing against a middle school defense and to think northwestern had one of the best run defenses in the B1G and country..imagine if we had him for another year and if he didn't have to split time with Teague..Teague is a great short yardage back but he doesn't have the breakaway speed Sermon has. I said that the first series I saw sermon run. We're definitely going to need both of them to have monster games against Clemson. Our secondary is struggling with all the new faces and guys out for covid. Big props to our O-line who blocked really well. I was really excited when I heard sermon was coming to Columbus because he is really talented. Even though he's not a 4.4 40 guy he still has excellent speed. Go bucks

Excited to have him on the SF roster. I think they'll probably always have that RB by committee situation under Shanahan, but this kid could make a splash.
A few times he was so much faster than the entire offensive line that he had no help down field.

Watching this after he just got cut by the Niners. More than a couple of times the announcers mentioned how big the holes were. Unfortunately the holes aren’t that big in the NFL. Good luck to him in the future.

When you think of Eddie George holding the single game record since the mid-90s feels ancient. Think of all the backs between Eddie George and Trey Sermon that were great in their own right.
