- In the next few episodes I’m bringing you to Shreveport Louisiana. Over the last ten years the folks down there have become my family, the city has become my heart.
Goat and Bamm are two of the most beloved, feared, and respected people in the history of the city. They tell the story of the Bottoms, a once legendary and vibrant neighborhood known for music, wild celebration, and tragic violence. The Bottoms was ultimately wiped off the face of the earth by the federal government. Goat, Bamm and the rest of the notorious Bottoms Boys gang were sent to decades in prison. Goat did more than 17 years of federal time while Bamm was recently released from the Super Max in Florence, Colorado where he spent over 30 years with prison mates such as El Chapo and Larry Hoover.
Bamm and Goat are two of the wisest and most evolved people I know. I have endless respect for the code in which they live their lives, and limitless gratitude for their friendship. They both are sacred to me. I hope you learn as much from them as I have.
Thank you. Jon.

"If you keep running into road blocks, you got the wrong road map" Priceless...
Hey Jon, I’ve worked with Goat the past six years and I can truly say that he really does all of the things he says. He talks to the young guys from the temp agency that are headed down the wrong path. He’s a great coworker and even better person. Thanks for that awesome interview and knowing Goat personally, it’s great to see those guys voices being heard. Peace
Jon, I raised my son as a single mother and an active duty Marine. I married a man I shouldn't have when my son was 8 because I believe a child needs a mom and a dad, ESPECIALLY a son. When that man divorced me when my son was 12 and I was medically retired from.the USMC, I knew that I had to move across the country to New Orleans where my son's verbally and mentally abusive father was, where I knew no one because even a misguided man was better for my child than no father figure at all. It was the hardest thing I've ever done, but it was the best choice for my son. Parents must sacrifice their comfort for their children. I respect what you are doing now. I loved you as the Punisher. It's my favorite show and I wish there was more to watch but when I think of the fight scenes it makes me smile. Semper Fi.
How in the hell you gone justify having a misguided man to help your son. Than not have one he’s going to repeat the misguided history
Honestly, Jon, I find it crazy that you're speaking to the other half on behalf of the rest of us... When I was 16 my brother went to prison for 8.5yrs and I joined the Marines at 17 to get out of the situation that we grew up in by other means. Before we left we hated each other and now we have a mutual understanding of our situation and have grown much closer than we ever were growing up. When my brother got out I let him tat me as his first tattoo outside. He added to my sleeve and I won't let him change anything about the tat he gave me then.
Inspiring story brother, happy you guys have come to an understanding. And thank you for your service
This Brother to this day still advocate for the brothers who are still locked up. He speak positive for those he left . He solid. He don't forget them.
I'm from Shreveport Louisiana these guys are legends great interview Jon.
I love this interview, Jon! Thank you for this interview because these are very special people!
Ok. Wow. I was not familiar with the Bottoms before; really glad I listened. This is the kind of history we should have learned in school. Really appreciate Bam Bam and Goat explaining the sense of community that guided their activities. The respect they continued to hold for others - even when treated inhumanly in prison - is humbling. Thanks for this episode!
These podcasts are my new go to at work. Could listen to these all day Jon. I appreciate everything you do greatly 🤘
I appreciate your work and you as a person, Jon. Looking out for The Bottoms.
This is excellent stuff, we NEED to hear these perspectives. I love what you're doing, Jon! Please keep it up. Just watching these in the last couple days has improved and deepened my perspective and knowledge on several things. I'm realizing that even someone like myself who values open-mindedness and discourse haven't been listening to enough non-celebrities and non-media voices. This is awesome and important as hell
This is great. I live about an hour and a half south of Shreveport and I’ve heard stories about the Bottoms. Pretty interesting to hear about it from guys that actually lived it. Respect to these guys and Jon.
Love this podcast! It's real, raw, and unique.

My Bottom Family 🤘🏿! I grew up looking up to these guys. It’s great to finally see them out after spending decades in the federal penitentiary. They literally destroyed our neighborhood. All the the parks, homes and businesses were demolished after 1994.
Necessity is the mother of invention. Brilliant whoever coined that.

this episode made me even more eager to see The Bottoms. #respect
They are gone only a few houses left and they are used for haunted tours 90 percent of the businesses are abandoned I work at Ed’s muffler on greenwood and Texas right outside of the old bottoms the cemetery is still there too but all that’s really there to see is the concrete foundations with nothing on them or abandoned buildings not a lot of people there other than the homeless
This mane name use to ring like church bells in the city

Bam Bam used to date my cousin and this dude would always show up with a python around his neck. But was ALWAYS well mannered and respectful to my family. As a kid he gave off the vibe he feared nothing. Glad to see he's released and matured.

Jon on joe rogan, he has some genuine insights and is very honest, I don't watch tv for 20 years, but I know rogans guests are usually Great Human beings, bringing the light to their fellow man. Honest, sharp and humble as a Bright young man. Thank you Jon...your work is appreciated!
So is there going to be an interview with a police officer from that area in that time to get the other side of the story as to what the bottom boys were actually doing at that time to cause the police to have to go down there and "handle up on them"?

I remember my daddy dropping me off and Neva seeing him again.. #traumatizing
Hi Jon, is cold out there? Boots with 5 layers of close...phony
I spoke with a couple of young black men and they have said that alot of senseless fights and shooting are due to the perception that they were disrespected and pride takes over. Cause alot of them have no adult males ( ie father) around the home teaching them to become men. So they "learned from gangs or other fatherless young men. The welfare state, lost community vibe, and lack of trade schools needs to be address.
You can never judge someone by how they look. Fucking Type O Negative. Damn.
Pete Steele is somewhere saying.... I knew we were gangster.
We have a lot of real O.G. 's in North louisiana. 318 in the building ❤❤❤
Free will is free will, Also, do good, feel good, do bad feel bad. Nature is a balance, youth is currency, young people should have knowledge of how many options you can create with hard work and patience. Life isn't a race and freedom is not free. Slow and Steady.

I SAW FOLKS SURVIVING.
Criminals getting publicity....great
Know people for who they are, not judge them by their PAST.... I see your looking for attention, so I feel inclined to give you your few seconds of fam,
You sound very ignorant these guys did their time like men and seem to have turned around and became a positive piece to the community and here you come draggin them down for something they did 30 years ago being a hater
Another paid bot you are.
Yup....criminal cops got a lot of free publicity didn't they??? What's the distinguishment in a criminal if the criminals wear blue also.
The government wanted to stop growth and development if the did all around the country more to that story for sure
Great interview
