  • Get moving! Exercise physiologists and doctors with expertise in WM recommend a combination of strength, stretching, balance, and aerobic exercises for those experiencing peripheral neuropathy. Today's class will be a mixture of these, along with mindful awareness.
    Strength and balance exercises may:
    * Improve symptoms
    * Maintain or increase strength and muscle mass
    * Maintain or increase bone mass
    * Improve quality of life
    * Increase ability to do day to day activities
    * Reduce fatigue
    * Decrease inflammation
    * Help tolerate side effects
    Aerobic exercise can help stimulate circulation and deliver oxygen to extremities. Stretching reduces muscle shortening, prevents or reduces deformity. Maintaining awareness of breathing and adding a layer of mindfulness to your exercise routines can improve proprioception, and help navigate fatigue and pain levels, so that you can adjust your exercise accordingly. We are also addressing the nervous system, so keeping the nervous system on the calm side. And remember, where awareness goes, energy flows.
    Challenge your coordination and balance while addressing symptoms like fatigue and peripheral neuropathy. Improve blood flow, balance, and mobility! Recorded July 26th, 2024
    * We will be both seated and standing for the class, using the chair for balance as needed.
    * Please have a chair, and yoga mat if possible.
    * Wear comfortable clothes and supportive shoes if needed. And talk with your doctor about any exercise restrictions you might have at this time.
    Note: The IWMF Wellness Program offers complementary or integrative practices to be used in conjunction with standard medical treatment, along with the approval of your doctor.
