This song has easily jumped up to my number 1 spot with how fun it is to play. Gotta say, that judgement section is brutal, same with the Cosmic part (Namely to bad refresh rates on my Monitor. 8D; ) but I can still pass this song with relative ease (B+ (Around 64+% for you ITG players). Great work on this track, and I'd love to see more bosses with funky ass tracks like this one.
One thing I've come to realize, you really like the passive bumping of the arrows (example between 0:40 and 1:00). Honestly, I think it's a very nice thing to just have there, because it keeps things looking alive when there's none of the crazy stuff happening.
+John Draconis you're exactly right! That effect is called "beat" because it moves every arrow on time with the beat. This means that, as long as the rhythm of the song is simple (kick, kick, kick, kick...) and you've synced the steps to the music well enough, this effect will _always_ look good. Well, almost always, it starts going weird at around 300bpm. But still, it's not hard to read at all, but still adds motion to sections that would otherwise be "dead time" so I like it.
Somehow discovered while trying to go for 80% on 1.5x rate (yes, I did eventually get it) that quitting/failing during the Aim For _! part just completely breaks score until you restart ITG or (I assume) play through again until after that section.

Just noticed that you need to hit Decents when aiming for Excellents at 2:27 in SM5, and looking through the default.lua file reveals this: DecentAtkMessageCommand=function(self) l_aimfor = 'TapNoteScore_W4' end, ExcellentAtkMessageCommand=function(self) l_aimfor = 'TapNoteScore_W4' end, Where ExcellentAtkMessageCommand should be set to W2 instead of W4 so you actually have to aim for Excellents.

Are you using OpenITG??? Because this map doesn't work properly on SM5, the part from 2:27 - 3:20 is buggy, Aim for Decent / great work, but aim for excellent doesn't (both perfect and marvelous don't give any %). Also on 4:13 - 4:38 sometimes the 2nd player dissapears and reappears when the arrows change direction (I say sometimes because it doesn't do that every time, might be a skin issue). Never the less, this is one of the best maps I've ever seen for SM / ITG, you sir are a true master mapper.

I think you forgot to change #SELECTABLE:NO; to #SELECTABLE:YES; in the .sm file for the current download. Otherwise 2:26 and onwards is goddamn amazing.
Hello, Taro, love watching your vids and playing your charts. I have a question though: is there any hint how to do charts like you do? I mean, most stepchart makers use lua to make effects, but what do they do and use exactly? Watching chart structure in edit mode or googling something didn't help me that much.
+Kri Bialy Try going to the song folder an opening the (something).sm file in a text editor, you should see something like #BGCHANGES:0.000=bg=1.000=0=0=1=====, 99999=-nosongbg-=1.000=0=0=0 // don't automatically add -songbackground- ; #FGCHANGES:0.000=lua=1.000=0=0=1=====, ; These lines will tell stepmania to load folders named "bg" and "lua" on the background and foreground layers. Anyways, you can take a look at these folders and open a file called default.xml (or default.lua in sm5), which is essentially the file that contains all the lua code. You program this stuff with a text editor, and I highly recommend downloading notepad++ because that's what most of us use to make these things. And essentially you do need some programming knowledge in order to figure out what everything does.

Is there footage of the tournament of people doing this live? I don't doubt its possible, I'm just really curious to see people doing these kinds of things blind for the first time, especially since the message makes it sound like it was a surprise and there was no practice.

for this download, extract the Song into some folder in Songs/, like Songs/AFolder/
Then open the .sm in notepad, and change #SELECTABLE to say YES

I'd recommend training on other stepmania stuff.
In the Stepmania 5 version it seems to get stuck with the modifiers from 0:27 - 0:32. Is it a theme problem? because Ayaze doesn't appear neither

Tried changing fastload to 1 and I got new songs from In The Groove and In The Groove 2 but still not there
