The License mechanic was designed in such a way that you'd think they don't want you to use it. The point of it should be "hey I don't have the research capabilities to unlock this stuff but my allies do so I should just produce the stuff they ALREADY RESEARCHED" but instead you get a debuff for that exact use case and you also get a debuff for just using it at all. Amazing!

The only challenge I can come up with is the imitate Ai challenge. You have to do your best to win whilst still playing like the Ai, throw in a collaboration to have them guess which country you're playing
You should do a puppets only challenge where basically you have to rely entirely on your puppets to do everything. Obviously you can still commander their units and whatnot because what would be the point of a video where you just sit back and watch them do everything, but you are not allowed to use any domestic planes, ships, or units. A good way to do this challenge would be to play as a nation with a lot of releasables (maybe France and Britain with their colonial empires or Italy can release basically the entire peninsula as old Italian kingdoms)
I always do license equipment. It makes the run feels REAL, like obviously Yunnan wouldn't be producing its own stuff, never mind having factories and resources to do that. That's why I got good with France, they gave me their license for a French MAS rifle, I pretend that me producing the rifle is actually me buying it, and I march my French-equipped divisions to save China from Japanese imperialism !

Having to keep up with tech to get license equipment is kind of silly. Like why would I even be licensing equipment in the first place if I was up to tech? Then again if it wasn't balanced at all you could ignore most tech in a game and focus on industry, or even have your allies focus on a specific tech branch for each of you to license from.

I'm still waiting for a real tanks ONLY run. No cheating with trucks, infantry equipment, support equipment, or artillery. No HP allowed.
