  • From Arizona Highway 87 to the Gooseberry Springs Trailhead, I hike the 29.4 mile long Happy Jack Passage of the Arizona Trail. I see an Abert's squirrel and a few elk along the way.

Chris , It's enjoyable seeing snow and cooler weather since the weather folks say we will be hitting a 100 degree heat index later this week in Central Florida. By the way on your FT hike at the Econlockhatchee where it was under water and the only thing dry were the two foot bridges above the river , the river is just a few inches deep at this time.

I have enjoyed your AZT hike very much, when can we expect to see the rest ? also had you gone thru the Mazatzal divide trail two week later you would not have had to contend with so much dead fall. three of us from the AZT went in and removed 188 downed trees. looking forward to more of your trip

Chris when did you complete the Arizona trail ?
What's your next adventure? I see that you did the Florida trail , how did you handle the mosquitos? I camped on Pensacola beach a long time ago and the mosquitos were insane

+azcolby40 Finished April 9. Maybe the Colorado Trail next with Jessica, who I hiked the AT with last year. Bugs weren't too bad when I hiked the Florida Trail at the beginning of last year.

Hey Chris! Interesting name for this passage. do you know the history of how it got the name Happy Jack?

Probably named after Happy Jack, AZ. Heard that town was named after a lumberjack.
