This is a hard song to pull off. Anyone can do the basic sound, some people can even do the vocals, and pull a decent chord arrangement, But this is taking the song, Personalizing it , improving, and launching it into a whole new feel. 13/10 (yeah 3 more then 10 ... Take that numbers!)
I have known him for many years ,,and he has never changed, has thousands of song including CD's ..he is truely a artist...hope we get many more years Greg...we just lv ya!.. Cindy > & Blackburn Hamlet too!!!
I'm impressed on several levels - First - Is this a low tech video, shot in the corner of a bar? On a cellphone? Incredible. Camera is still and steady. Audio is balanced, not in the hole, not over driven. No hearing nearby drunks yelling. Darn good video. Then - Doing "Baba" in a bar, open mic etc... This is one of those tunes that people will start to hear and say "Oh sure, he's gonna play 'Teenage Wasteland' ". Then about 16 bars later they say "Holy Fugoli! He's actually gonna play it!". Someone in the crowd mentions to that listener above "The actual title is Baba O'Riley". To which the listener replies "Oh, that 20th century guru guy that invented computer memory?". Both listeners are fascinated by your performance, for slightly different reasons. The first listener is amazed "He's playing so fast". The second listener is thinking "Here comes the part where The Who did a bunch of elaborate overtracked guitars, keyboards, violins (It was Townshend who arco'd the fiddle). How in the heck is this guy with one acoustic guitar going to interpret all that?". 2nd guy can't imagine how you're going to pull it off! You pulled it off nicely..:-) Well arranged, well executed, by a well practiced player. That's a formula for performance success. Woven into your excellent performance, I heard "guest musical appearances by" Bruce Springsteen, Steve Stills, SRV, and Pete Townshend. Even saw a Willie Nelson "Trigger Hole" near your soundhole. Very nicely done sir. Thank You for all the practice.
I've been trying to get this song right for a year, but damn! you even did the violin part FANTASTICALLY. Watch with the sound off, hands are a blur. I'd say equal to the original!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Keith
truly amazing cover Greg great guitar playing always in control ,not an easy task to play and sing this stunning song in perfect time but this was just fantastic Bravo, Pete should check this out !!
I was 15 years old in December 1970 The Who Elton John America all at the same time at the Roundhouse Chalk Farm with the Salvation Army with thanks to Jeff Dexter with thanks
wow. you remind of springsteen for some reason... the infectious energy of your performance perhaps. The breakdown at the end is incredible, great chops!
This performance is great up until the outro where he goes god like and takes it into the stratosphere. Would have loved to have been there to see that
It is not a musicians right to be heard above all. The guy is singing in a pub, not everyone is interested in him, nor do they have to be, regardless of how good he is.
Thanks for the compliment @keatonhatch6213 - there are two camps of people in a bar when someone is pouring out their soul playing music - glad to know which camp you are in!
I thought it was amazing, then it got to the last minute.... HOLY SHIT!
never imagined this can be done solo. Great.
200 of those 26k views are from me on the past 2 days. What a version you've got here mate!
Wow, thanks very much, Robson!!
