Yes. We were promised so much, which makes the disappointment of the reality of the situation that much more crushing. At least Gen Z started out without any hope. Lol
Late GenX here. That generation spans from the people born in the mid 60’s to those born in the early 80’s. So much have changed through those years. And plus, isn’t it kinda weird that two people born one year apart becoming a different “generation”? 1982: Gen X, 1983: Millennial!
You’re not wrong. I think my optimism left the day after my 15th birthday when the towers were hit and then I quickly grew up and saw the housing market, the labor issues, that health insurance is insane and am now relating to y’all’s innate pessimism on a very deep level
see, this perspective confuses the hell out of me as someone who has never known a pre 9/11 world. closest thing I can relate to would be the night of the 2016 election (I was 16). that shattered the sort of neoliberal narrative of the inevitable march of "progress". like, no, you can't plot society on some shitty, but ever marginally-increasing graph -- we live in hell, welcome to hell
Big fan of Finlay but we millenials weren't promised sh*t. We came of age around the 2008 economic crash and have known ever since that we wouldn't be able to own our own homes, would have to get at least a MA in order to get a decent paying job (if we were able to afford it) and would constantly be patronised in the media. Remember how we were always being told that we were skint due to buying lattes and eating avocados on toast? I reckon a more accurate take would be that we had to learn all of this stuff as it happened, with the realisation slowly burning into our minds that we were screwed, whereas Gen-Z already knew it was all hopeless because they were raised on the internet and didn't have any illusions that we may have had left over from the prior generations. One of the best young comedians I've seen for sure and Gen-Z have a great sense of humour. I feel like they are ahead of we millenials and are rolling with it - our generation f*cked up by not trying harder to deal with these realities where as the younger generation seems to have its finger on the pulse.
Well let me tell you, maybe not for you but we older millennials were definitely promised shit. When I was a kid, the Cold War had just ended, we were told it was a new era of peace, a new era of prosperity, that we were all going to go to college and all going to have houses. Gen Z is the end of an era, Gen Alpha is the hope of a new beginning😌
Somewhat related I wish I could see Finlay in Sweden live, my favorite by far.
Finlay Stockholm 2024 hopes up!
He's really young but he's already hilarious on stage and has the confidence of a +30 year old. I'm impressed.
Yes. We were promised so much, which makes the disappointment of the reality of the situation that much more crushing. At least Gen Z started out without any hope. Lol
Not sure it's necessarily an "at least". The despair just steps in earlier in life. I'd argue neither is better or worse than the other.
Without any hope yet expects everyone to play along with their bullshit and delusions just like the boomers
honestly one of the better stand up shows ive seen just off this short😭😭 i actually physically reacted positively multiple times
Legitimately well written jokes. Delivery top notch also. keep at it mate.
One of the most perfectly crafted stand up hits I’ve ever seen. Bravo 🙌
That’s some good joke writing right there hope to see more of him
As a millennial, weirdest part of this bit was your reference to Gen X as the old people. 💀
Those are mostly our older siblings lol
And then there's me ...
A Gen Z that has a Gen X sibling.
Gen X people are now middle-aged. Before you know it, Millennials will be there.
*Existential crisis intensifies*
Late GenX here. That generation spans from the people born in the mid 60’s to those born in the early 80’s. So much have changed through those years. And plus, isn’t it kinda weird that two people born one year apart becoming a different “generation”? 1982: Gen X, 1983: Millennial!
@@yorgunsamuray Call those cuspers
@@nyxie2877 there was this “Xennial” term, referring to those born from late 70’s to early 80’s.
HE DOES STANDUP TOO ???? i love you
Had no idea you did stand up as well and it took my by surprise how poised you are! Keep it up man. Can't wait to see you at a comedy club in London.
always original and authentic premises. u are quickly becoming one of my favorite comics
It's been awhile since I genuinely laughed at a comedian here😂👍
You’re not wrong. I think my optimism left the day after my 15th birthday when the towers were hit and then I quickly grew up and saw the housing market, the labor issues, that health insurance is insane and am now relating to y’all’s innate pessimism on a very deep level
"I have it better than any other person in the entire history of the human race, oh poor me"
Stupid clown.
see, this perspective confuses the hell out of me as someone who has never known a pre 9/11 world. closest thing I can relate to would be the night of the 2016 election (I was 16). that shattered the sort of neoliberal narrative of the inevitable march of "progress". like, no, you can't plot society on some shitty, but ever marginally-increasing graph -- we live in hell, welcome to hell
The last delivery just blew me out of my couch!!😂😂😂😂
that tiktok joke is great
You managed to make a joke about Greta Thunberg without using some cringy boomer clishee to hate on her. Great stuff!
He did much more than that for her... You, however.. I'm not sure what you did
It really amazing seeing talented creators find their platform on social media and then succeed at standup and live performances
“That’s why we called their app TikTok” 💀
THIS FLOW OF JOKES WAS TOO GOOD LMAOO
I was a month shy of 17 when 9/11 happened.
@@patrickrogers9689 I was 5 when 9/11 happened and I’ve never felt like my generation was promised shit. But I guess we’re opposite ends of the same generation, maybe that’s why
This is some good shit.
It's the little girl in Sweden that dreams of silver screen portation
So good. Your stand up routines have been amazing!
In case people are wondering what the new generation is:
Is generation Alpha
We’re done for
That’s the Greek alphabet stupid.
Or Æon Flux.....
That kid looks like everyone in 1992
You’re so witty and I like the way you joke, it’s not too insulting
This guys gonna make it big. You can tell. Good on you man ❤
this was fucking hilarious and i don’t wanna die 😭😭😭😭
Brilliant - please come to Berlin some time! (Before the time runs out, k?)
Man I love your stuff, making jokes about how sure we are that the world is going to end without idealizing or normalizing depression makes for some really funny material
this is incredible oh my godd 😂😂
wait wtf this is so good dude 😂😂 oh man if you ever come to australia i stg
The TikTok line hit! Omg I was not expecting that.
this is one of finlay's best bits for real
this is great 😂❤
Amen and finally a joke that doesn’t hurt Greta- that’s what it feels like is no one cares :(
Instant sub
TikTok is a speed run to degeneracy
This guy is amazing 👏🏾👌🏾
I feel like you zoomers are actually kinda scary people... that old line "We have no compassion, and we ask no compassion from you. When our turn comes, we shall not make excuses for the terror.” certainly comes to mind.
Amazing material!
Harmless and actually pretty good, I wish him the best.
Gives me Russell Howard vibes.
Everything is a joke because we're all in constant pain with little hope for the future
This was good. And he was telling the truth about the Generations 👍🏽
Too true. Not sure if I'm depressed because I see the world dying, or I see the world dying because I'm depressed.
"Yeah, good one Craig" got me😭
bloody genius
She carries all the care for us, she is the bearer of the care
The care bear if you will
As a german:
After gen Z comes Gen ẞ, then Gen Ä, then Gen Ö and Gen Ü.
This was wonderfully delivered. Does this guy have his Netflix show yet?
wtf i love greta now
She likes Dr. Theodore Kaczynski so there’s some hope
Lmao she’s not even a real activist. She just sits around all day doing speeches and complaining about the “environment” while providing literally no good solution for it. you are the only person on earth who likes her.
oh, so that Swedish girl was Greta after all lol. I didn't get the reference at first lol
@@markjosephbacho5652 which other famous Swedish girl made an effort for climate change?
She's a malthusian ideologically corrupted nihilist.
I don't see how anyone who is mentally healthy can support that.
Gen alpha be like: I’m the new generationnnnnn and life I doommmed and I am a emo depressed kid that plays roblox all dayyyy
This is lowkey dark, love it coz its real af.
