This stage theme is so good..
If you're unsure of what a Meaty is, the Nash combo at 2:50 is a good example. I mean they ALL are examples of it, but its the easiest to see in that combo imo. You can see that Nash's special move is done as Zangief is getting up, so our wrestler here end up getting hit by the end of it.

Is it practical, though? If they block wouldn't it be a free punish on Nash? That shit is super negative so even hitting on a late frame... am I wrong?
I don't think so. I could be wrong, but Nash looks out of range for a full punish, with the few exceptions being characters with longer normals, like Vega or Cammy.

An interesting thing about The Legend of Punch Guy is that back 1974 games ran at 15 fps, so the "meaty" punch, as it's called, actually lasted over 10 seconds.

I noticed a severe lack of Birdie in your videos. D: He is the character that gets by far the least show time from you.
He isn't in this video for the same reason you don't see Zangief dishing out any punishment. Their combos begin and end with the basic stuff.

+DML897 Gief surely is the worst of the cast. Bison not at all. He's pressure is very good and annoying against some of the cast.
+Draxis32 You'd think so, but check a bunch of the early tier lists from pros. He's considered bottom. Good in amateur hands who can't handle frame traps, otherwise easily beatable.

Even if you block, a meaty will hit anyway, you get rewarded with more frame advantage.
What about command grabs?
Like if you do a meaty command grab? Nothing, it would act as if you did it regularly, no additional advantage. Meaty command grabs just forces your opponent into doing something on wakeup that can't be grabbed, like giefs ex spd, jumping or the kara specials with pre jump frames if they wanted to avoid it.

How is Ryu doing a MP after a HK without counter hit @1:27? You can usually only combo into standing LK from HK...
Because Ryu hit him on the later active frames of the HK so Ryu recovered slightly quicker as zangief was still in hit stun so Ryu can land the MP as a combo, I hope this made sense
