For all of my life i wanted to run properly but i was never able to because i always gave up too early. This time i stuck to it and changed my mind and i‘m going to run my first 5k in may🙇🏻♀️ 🎉 Lucy, i am honestly so grateful for your videos, without them I surely would have quit along the way! Your videos got me so hyped up and motivated when i had my foot injury in january and needed to rest. I stored all the motivation and energy and now i can‘t wait to go for a run, it brings me so much joy 💜 Can’t say it enough - thank you so much Lucy for being the person i needed to see 🥰💜 You are amazing ☺️
This comment is so amazing for me to read! 🥹 I am so excited for your first 5k in May!! You’re gonna do amazing and all your hard work will feel like it’s paid off 🏅 Thank you for such a lovely comment ❤️
I can't believe you did this while I was running my last long run for my marathon. And I struggle with hills! I avoided them like the plague all through training and yesterday I finally ran the last long run with hills. It was such an amazing feeling to run them better than the first time I ran them for the last marathon. We are getting stronger!!! 🙌 Thank you so much for your wonderful videos and encouragement. I couldn't run the entire time and I was a little down. It's so wonderful to watch you to struggle and get stronger too. 🤩
You are an absolute champion! I know you were frustrated during the run for stopping a lot, but honestly, you were doing absolutely amazing. And whatever your worst running day is, it's like my beyond a dream running goal currently. I also just found out I've now lost 20 lbs, and will be clear to start running training within a couple of weeks, and I'm going to use your method of running for 30 seconds and then seeing honestly how long it takes to recover to be able to do another 30 seconds. So maybe a year or two from now I'll be able to do a half marathon??? 👀 We'll see! Best quote: "And that hill can f**MYSTERIOUSLY CUT AUDIO** off." 😆
Thank you so much!! 😀🫶🏻 That is such exciting news for you 🙌🏼 I have full belief in you and I’m rooting for you! It’s going to be hard but I promise you’ll improve in time. You noticed the mysterious cut in that clip 😂
@@lucyshawvlogs For the first time in a long time, I actually believe it! I hope you don't mind my occasionally sharing my own progress, you're just such a big motivation and I appreciate you sharing all you do about your own process and relationship with your body, fitness, running, etc. Thank you again!
I love your channel! As a fellow working mom who really hated running when I began my journey, I find your content to be truly relatable. Thank you so much for inspiring me to keep going!
You did brilliantly, thanks for the video and the honesty. I’ve found your channel to be perfect for me, I’m training for my first Ultra having never run more than 10k before. You and your videos showed me my reality and helped me rationalize my progress. Thank you Ps on the bottles, I take one with electrolytes that tastes good and one with carbs that aren’t as good. I save the good tasting one as a ‘treat’ and having the other one means I ration it as I don’t really like it (as weird, I know).
Thank you so much! 😀 Ah that’s so exciting, I’m really happy you’ve found me 🥹 That’s not weird at all, it sounds like something I would do! If I had one nice and one not so nice I’d see the nice one as a little treat 😂
Great job! This was so encouraging. I have been very discouraged in my running journey lately and have come close to throwing in the towel. You make me think that maybe I can keep going-even though I am so slow!!
Yes you can!! I believe in you and I’m rooting for you. If I had let my slow pace stop me back in 2020 then I wouldn’t be doing the things I am now. So go slow, get it done and be excited for what you’re going to be capable of in the future 🙌🏼
I'm so happy your are ok, I was worried you had a injury. I just rolled my angle going down hill yesterday luckily I too was fine. Scary though when it happens. Amazed by your devotion, thanks for the inspiration. I trying to slowly increase my distance for my 15k in June. I have never ran more than 7miles so the extra 2 miles definitely will have be worked up to. But happy to see you stop and start, I love you saying you can do it let's just go.
It really hurt when it happened so I thought I had injured myself, thankfully I was ok! I’m so happy you was too, it’s a horrible feeling isn’t it 😫 I’m sure you will do amazing at that 15k in June. You’ve given yourself plenty of time to build up to it 🏃🏻♀️💪🏼
I use electrolyte in left, water in right, mark electro bottle with marker as it'll get stained and maybe flavored over time. I have no idea how CZcams brought me here but good luck. Tailwind cola.
Amazing! About the bottles, it depends on my mood, sometimes I drink out of them evenly and sometimes I drink one and then the other. 2:40:00 is really impressive!
Thank you so much!! 😀😀 I think I should start drinking one then the other because I’m guessing my way makes me think I have more water left then I actually do 😂
Well done, you,! I'm catching up on your videos on a treadmill day, today! I would LOVE to know what brand hat that was!! I have been looking for another one that does exactly what yours does-fits well and SHADES my face with a bit of "side blinder" built in for focus in races. Other inquiry: forgive me but I can't remember if you went from 5ks to half marathon or got a 10k in there or maybe more than one of those, my question being how you built up to a 10k from a 5k. It just feels like...I can't run past 4 at one time and I like to keep going. Maybe I should try stopping once I'm there then going again until the 6.2? I see you stopping and I don't think a thing of it so maybe I have a mental hang-up? Who knows! Pointers for 5k to 10k?
I like how you talk yourself into doing the hard thing! I the end you still make it look easy though - f I would not have known the distance, it could have been 5 miles!i
I’m always having to have a word with myself 😆 I promise it’s not easy for me, I try my best to capture the tough times lol. It’s quite the compliment to be told I made it look easy though 😊🫶🏻
Great run! Do you think having some type of fuel would have made a difference? I’m new to the distance running thing but trying to learn how to properly fuel. Also trying to not over fuel lol. Would love to hear you talk about your experience with that and what has made a difference for you. I went out this morning at 430 am and didn’t have time to eat anything but I usually don’t on my long slow runs and am fine. but today was a thirty minute easy run with strides and I felt spent much more quickly than normal. So maybe I should have had a banana I don’t know lol. I’m still learning!
Yes! I should have taken either tailwind or some food with me. Tailwind has been amazing for fuel on long runs, my husband uses it for his 100 mile races and he swears by it 🙌🏼 I just used to practice by trying lots of things out because learning what works for you and your body is what is important. I even had to practice eating while running 😂 That was so strange the first time I did it lol.
That was so cool to watch. Always makes me want to get out there and do it. 🎉 one day. I do about 16 km hiking/trail Love that. Nz bush is so beautiful
Also, top tip... rather than taking off lids, blow air into bottle to fill, then tip upside down and you can suck the rest of the water.... less fiddley and you don't risk spilling ❤
"can't stop Stopping" but you never failed to Start Running Again. That's discipline LucyShaw, Well Done!
Ah I love that! That’s such a better way of looking at it 😀🙌🏼 Thank you!

That ankle roll! Been there… you feel like you could cry bc it can be so detrimental. I’m really happy to see you were able to bang out the rest!

You are so inspiring! I can't even fathom making it to half marathon distance, but I hope I get there!
Congrats for pushing yourself, love the determination! Some sections of your route looked rather challenging with the uneven terrain
Thank you 😀🫶🏻

Thank you so much!! I’m not going to back out of the races I’ve signed up for now and someday, I WILL run a race in the UK!
well done and congrats, the first one is always the hardest but best experience , good work
Thank you, that’s really kind of you to say! 😀 It’s my first long run since running an ultra marathon 🙌🏼

Hi Lucy, great work! I have 1 bottle with water and 1 bottle with tail wind, so I drink from whichever one I feel like at the time ❤
Also, top tip... rather than taking off lids, blow air into bottle to fill, then tip upside down and you can suck the rest of the water.... less fiddley and you don't risk spilling ❤
I’ve not tried that before! 🙌🏼 Thanks!
I sip out of my bottles evenly too haha - otherwise I genuinely feel a bit lopsided when one is heavier than the other
😆 Yes it’s that lopsided feeling I think I was trying to avoid 😂
Fellow Hoka runner 🤣 great job you got it done!
😅👟 Thank you so much!!
If I take 2, then I do 1 carb drink and 1 electrolyte. That was one heck of a run. Half marathon on a Friday! 😎👟🎉
Thank you so much! 😀 And on a Friday, who do I think I am?! 😂🙌🏼
Well done Lucy 👏👏
Thank you!! 😀❤️
Just great👑👑👑👑👑👑👍👍💪
😀😀
Amazing achievement! HM is epic :O I can't imagine running for that long. You did great =D
Thank you so much!! 😀🙌🏼
i personally wear the bladder in back (1 liter). the two bottle, though they are soft, the "bounce" from our boobs and the soft flasks.. nope. lol
I used to use a bladder, it was so nice to just have the straw there 😆
Well done, you! 👍👟
Thank you!! 😀😀
If Michael Jackson did the moonwalk, then Lucy Shaw does the moonrun 🌕🏃🏻♀️
