The time has come for the 5th 3D Community Challenge! Through the month of August i'm challenging all 3D artists, regardless of skill level or age, to choose 1 of 27 unique martial arts animations provided, and create the coolest 3D scene around the downloadable template project.
The tai chi moves were recorded with tai chi master Lu Junchang known for his work on Shang Chi, and Man of Tai Chi (to name a few), using a Rokoko motion capture suit and smart gloves.
The deadline is August 28th 11:59 AM PST, and soon after, i'll combine all the renders to form the greatest Martial Arts Mega-Montage the internet has ever laid eyes on. So gear up and get ready to learn and grow together through the month of August. I'll be alongside you every Saturday as I create my personal submission in Unreal Engine 5.

i already downloaded the file and opened it in blender but there's an issue here.
do you know how to parent the fbx animation skeleton into the default mannequen?
i tried to parent it but the result is the mannequen has a glitch motion.
is it because the mannequen not posing as a T pose? pls share some tips 🙏

I started learning 1 month ago (not with classes just by myself 'cause I love it), I am not sure if I even have knowledge for this challenge, but I have loved the dozens of hours I have invested so far and I want to give it a try n_n

go for it! I am a Blender noob also, I've done a few tutorials on CZcams, and then a couple ArcVis projects for friends to try and improve...I have no animation knowledge, but I'm going to give it a shot too! Great way to learn new techniques and test yourself! Let's gooo!
These types of challenges are great because you'll be along side super skilled people. Meaning you get much better direct comparison and improvements of what you could've done with your work, that are far more relatable. "Oh shit he did it like that" or "how did he do that", you can go back into your project file afterwards and see if you can mimic stuff they did. Now you have a great tool to figure out new skillsets or things to improve on.
It's almost like a challenge class, don't hesitate!
It's always awesome to see a new feature video of everybody's renders. I get to spend an hour or more just watching them and relax.

Blender newbies are going to need a tutorial to apply the FBX to the "stand-in" there is not T-Pose in the blender file for any Mixamo characters

I'd say if you can get everything you need free and have the time, do it, even if you don't get in, you might find a new hobby or career
I say just try, you’ve got nothing to lose by coming up with an idea and just trying to put something together to submit. I’ve found that these kinds of community challenges or competitions or whatever they may be have always helped me learn about filmmaking the most, so if that’s something you’re interested in then it is more than worth it!

@@TheMugwump1 the rules say don’t move the camera or the character animation, and go crazy. Since he’s saying that beginners can join too, I’m sure you can use any model, whether you make it or download it, in your render!!
@@TheMugwump1 Considering the fact that Clinton himself used a bought character model in the last challenge I think you're good. But if you want to be 100% sure check the discord and ask him or somebody else, but I am 99% sure it'll be OK. Just make sure to not break any copyright (don't use ripped game models ;)
Just finding out about your Channel! This is such a good idea and sounds like so much fun! I've been in the industry for eight years now and its been tough holding onto that passion when it just comes down to doing the work. Seeing stuff like this gets me excited again and it reminds me why we chose to pursue this passion. Keep up the fantastic work here and loving the channel!

I have been using blenderfor some time now, your challenges and the submissions were somethings that inspired me and liked it pretty much, I looked forward to the day I could participate in this and now it's here! and pretty happy about it. Thank you for doing this challenges and I look forward to see the results.
I have the rough idea in my mind when I saw the animations and the theme of the challenge, I'd be pretty happy while I do it hopefully, the only problem with me now is that I have to get good with sculpting and animations, I have been practicing sculpting for a some time now and will keep practicing for this challenge, however I have zero knowledge on how to animate it unfortunately, I'll try my best to learn about it and get good results, I'll try my best. I hope I do this challenge and learn something from it.
Have been wanting to take part since the 2nd community challenge, I think my skillls are finally good enough to make a good project. Definitely doing this challenge.

I am not a 3-D artist. And have not been one to try this kind of thing. However, if I'm going to grow as a creative I feel I need to push myself beyond my comfort zone and hopefully create something that inspires. Thanks Clint for pushing the absolute limit of creativity and offering the tools and know how to the masses so we all can become something more than we have been.

Funny, one of the first things I made all on my own with blender was the legendary ring from Shang Chi. Man Clint this is a challenge meant for me, the name Lee is a nickname I got from my pops when I was a kid because I used to run around the house kicking furniture and the like after getting riled up from watching Kung Fu, he'd be like "calm down little Lee" as in Bruce Lee, my favorite all time martial arts actor! So this challenge holds something near and dear to my heart, I'm going to dedicate this to my pops who I wasn't really fond of growing up because he wasn't always the nicest person, he has since become a much better person and I appreciate that it was never too late for him to change and while I wish it was sooner so I could have enjoyed my childhood a lot more it was him who did get me into martial arts when I was young and when he was good to us and not on drugs and alcohol I loved it. So pops, this one is gonna be for you, in probably one of my most emotional pieces every worked on, is already working up my emotions as I write this lol. Thanks Clint, for another challenge and another reason for me to keep leveling myself up. Love ya bro, you sir are I've of the greatest inspirational people in my life. I've been through a ton but all that's changed and I have a better lease on my second half in life. Imagine that, a 45 year old emcee from a small town in Massachusetts creating a new life for himself through the 3D arts. I couldn't thank you anymore, as a matter of fact... I'm gonna see if I can record that little thing I wanted to make for you today. Now to finish that default cube challenge I was working on so I can get started on this new challenge. Time to level several levels up!!!

That would require some compositing knowledge, not a task for strictly 3D artists, but everyone should learn a bit of comp.
@@matinprsd I don't see the need for that. In the 3D scene there will be a circle - a portal, and a flying camera, which can not be changed. You only need to export the alpha channel of transparency overlapping the portal, in order to see the next scene being in the current scene.
You probably already have a scene like that cuz your too specific 😂

This is probably the best contest and reward challenge I've seen on CZcams.
SUPER excited for this challenge. The last challenge was the first I ever participated in, and while I didn't make top 100, I made it onto the thumbnail. I can't wait to see what everyone comes up with. I know that all renders video is going to be amazing.

I've actually keyframed a full tai chi animation as a passion project. I've modelled my character and animated almost 3mins worth of animation. I've also got her dresses up. Just texturing and environment left to do. Once completed I'll upload it. I'm actually really proud of it this far. Also good luck to all who's taking part in the challenge and to anyone just getting started in 3d.

I just submitted my entry and I have to say that I had a complete blast working on it! It was my first time using Unreal Engine and Marvelous Designer, and I would never have tried using them if it wasn't for this challenge. I can't wait to see everyone's final work, they all look amazing so far!
Was planning to start learning and practicing soon, this seems like a good opportunity todo so, not sure if i will be able to give a decent enough submission but will at least learn something new out of it.
