Man I‘m genuinely happy you seem to be healing with the hair 🤞🤞🤞
Nice work! I can't believe how well the trim coat works!
Awesome vid I’ve got a 1980 Honda xl125s enduro bike and my front fender and my air filter cover are pretty sun-dyed appreciate all the hard work in your vids to make us understand it better, keep up the great work!
This is pretty sweet I have an cr125 with the plastic stator side engine cover and i’m thinking about trying this on it ! thanks great video!!!!
Zeph Gage how did it turn out....might try this on my kdx220
This worked! Thank you! Although, I used a thick ziplock bag and SOUS VIDE to maintain 185 degrees F for like 10mins and that was enough for my very small project.
The very last step that everyone misses is you have to spray the parts off with acetone...that reddish/blue/purple pen ink color is mucky dye that settles on the surface, rinse it off good with acetone and it will look factory made clean.
wait ... so you mean literally pour some acetone on the stuff after it's done with the dye?
@@optimafootworks9554 Yes, the dye soaks into the plastic coloring it and then mucky dye sits on the surface looking like it was colored on with a sharpie. I've done several nylon plastics and comes out looking factory made when rinsing in fresh acetone.
@@TheNoisePolluter do you rinse it in cold acetone or do you heat it up?
@@coloradodirtbike5930 Just cold/room tempature acetone.
@@TheNoisePolluter thanks
Awesome man !been following for a while. Keep up the good work! Looking good!
Sweet! I thought changing plastic color was not possible! You surprise me again! Keep it pryme 👌🏼
Finally new video from u 😍 Love ur vids man 😍❤️
I hope this video blows up for you. Very well done, as always.
Love your vids Cam! Have fun at the races!
Im totally doing this! I cant find black plastics for my kdx200 and paint chips off so fast. I will have to do this just on a much bigger scale for maybe even my gas tank but definitely the fenders and number plate are getting dyed. I watched jake the garden snakes video and it didnt work well for him but he didnt use the dye more kind and i dont think he used acetone either. Thanks cam! You saved me a lot of headache and now my bike can look the way i want.
Ron seems like a nice guy! can't wait for this cr250 to be done!
I used to have to dye my Team Associated plastic parts when they came in white back in early 1990s. Worked great!
Turning out great man! Cant wait to see this thing rip around the track. Keep up the work cam! Stay strong!
Wow turned out awesome dude keen to get some placcy on my bike dyed up!
Sick work as usual bro🤙
Nice to see your doing way better
That's proper! Seems like a straight forward process. Excellent video as always.
keep doing what you are doing you are such an inspiration
Have a CR 250 also when I get some extra I’ll most definitely be modeling after yours.. nice bike man I been following since you started on it if not mistaken
A little dish soap in the solution helps. Wash the parts in hot soapy water first then straight in the solution for 15 minutes or whatever time you're using. After rinsing and cooling you can run the process again. Soapy water preheat then another run through the solution. The second or occasionally third run really improved the brightness of the parts. The Rit synthetic graphite dye can improve the color when added to the black.
Great video, sure beats painting plastic.
5% x 13oz = 6.5oz acetone. i found 10% works well for chainsaw plastics.
That is fantastic, those turned out great!
Can’t wait to see the end result, and see you start on the z50!!
Damn that turned out good. I’ve always wondered if Bed Liner would adhere to plastic as well as dye. But it would be a rough texture, not smooth like this.
Good job!
Very cool!
I think the acetone made it come out the way it did. I also think if you were a little more generous with the RIT it wouldve came out a deeper black. But definitely a good video very informative.👍 You always challenge your self with complicated tasks for these dirt bikes, i love to watch.
you suprised me! . most recent videos i watch use the Rit Proline . stuff which is very expensive like 30$+ per bag of poweder . your method is the 1st i have seen that uses acetone i think thats the trick!. nice work going to do my wifes xr80 this weekend just need to find a old container to dye in i assume after u you use the container you dont want to use it again for food .
Awesome video bro the best quality always
Thanks for the how to! I'm currently working on my 76 El Camino and wanted to re-dye the key covers to be a more fitting color than black or really harsh blue, hopefully this works :D (if not I'm only out 4 bucks xD)
Love your videos keep up the good work!!
works perfectly thank you so much!!
Very nice, I’ll be going with lime green on my bike.
Nice video bro really helpful !
I love your videos this build is coming out awsome
That's great, really appreciate the info.
Insightfull, thanks man.
Hey bro love the video. I would really love to see you fit new model plastics on a 04 or 05 kx250f that will be so cool
Fantastic job!
Tried to dye plastic parts on my 2006 cr 250 last year but it didn’t work, didn’t know about acetone good tip thanks
If love to see a successful tank dye, I've seen some attempts but nothing that came out right.
Nice video bud can't wait to see what comes next how are you feeling as well bud
Hi! Thanks for the great video! I'm wondering if the colour still keeps the same strength a couple of years after use? Especially interesting since it gets in so much contact with sun, rain, cold and so on. I would love to know what you think! Thanks in advance! Martina from Sweden =)
I have some Suzuki RM side panels that I dyed black in 78. They still look great, even the newer scratches are black.
Cool stuff like usually
Love the videos
Cheers from France
Dope, cam!
Going to try this on some disc golf discs Thanks
Best CZcamsr ever, love your content. Thank you👍👍. Greetings from South Africa
So if I wanted to dye a small luggage foot how long would it take and what ratio? Does it dye the metal container? As thought of doing it in a sauspan
curious to see if this works with a color like orange trying to make my plasticss orange on my yz450f!
how did it go? I'm about to try on some orange pieces
Thanks Cameron... You are such an inspiration. I will never be scared to buy a used bike anymore. #CamStrong
Would this work on a complete plastic kit for an enduro? I have a sherco, would love to have a black kit, but only available in blue and white.
looks sick!!
Looking good!!!
Can you change colors of parts other than white/clear. Like if I wanted to repaint the stock plastics.
How to dye over black delrin,? Or should I get rit dye remover then dye the delrin after stripped im trying to figure out a sure fire way first cause its a 600 dollar piece of delrin
About to restore an 85 Honda Elite 150 and change the blue plastics to black. Going with the ruby red color scheme over silver it will stand out better. This will help with the non painted blue panels.
How did you learn about the heating and acetone?
Would this be applicable to something like a gundam model kit? Usually the parts come in sheets, so I think they'd color pretty evenly.
I have a 2019 tacoma and was trying to use this stuff to dye my interior trim pieces that are a light grey color and the dye would not even set into it and would just bead right off or run off it any suggestions? I’m thinking the plastic is still smooth and kinda silky smooth?
Hey Cam! Great idea on the dye. I do have a comment/suggestion though. Wouldn't it make more sense to sandblast all the plastics with a fine media to score the surface so the dye could soak in?
cool vid. now i can dye my friend!
Hey man i have a crf50f and when i turn the throttle the exhaust just spits out smoke. I’ve tried to adjust the screws but nothing has changed... brand new carb and still won’t run with choke off. Can u help??
Thanks man I am going to do this on my bike now
Great how to videos.
Good stuff. I guess now, it's time to start trying anodizing
Looking so good bro!! I'm digging the black accents
Can we dye an already dyed 3D printed part with different color?
This bike is gonna look so amazing when its finished
So is it absolutely necessary to boil the mixture to 200 degrees? You said at the end that you left the radiator louvres over night, I assume you didn't heat them and stay up watching them? Do you think you would get the same results by just mixing a cold mixture with 10% acetone and leaving it at room temperature for 24 hours? Just trying to avoid the fumes or buying an electric stove. Thanks!
I dyed my white plastic yesterday using your method. I let them sit in the mixture for 1 1/2 hours. They turned dark brown. Should do any other dye to reach black or am I wasting my time?
Pretty cool man!
this bike is going to be sickk
Will this work on fenders/glossy plastic?
as I said on last video, awesome channel ;)
Didn't know it would work so well! I would just go with aluminum radiator guards though. Lots easier and stronger.
Hey Cameron. I have a 2016 Klx140l when I start it up it run perfect but when I turn the handlebars just a little bit the bike instantly shuts off. Do you or anyone else know what the problem would be.
Good idea
can you do this with out using the hole bottle? can you do small projects?
Before I even watch the video, I'd give it a like!
Do you think 2020 yz85 plastics would fit a 2003 yz85
Tô ansioso pra ver essa ferra funcionar
Vc e um grande profissional
thats cool. can you dye black plastic white?
Forgive me if this has been asked already but what's up with the type of plastic? I know PP plastic is unaffected by acetone but I assume plastics that will be damaged by acetone you can't use this method BUT can you substitute acetone with a different solvent?
is it possible to change colors after a piece has been dyed ?
is it possible to go back after doing the dye ??
Will this work on my dirtbikes body plastics?
Well dang. Looks like there another project I didnt know I needed to do to my bike.
Shifting Steve-o was just thinking the same thing 😂
Ordered some scotch bright pads from ya today cant wait to try them!
Thanks man! Let me know how you like them!
@@CameronNiemela will do!
@@CameronNiemela yo the scotch bright pads work awesome! I was cleaning up my throttle housing on my trx250r & I caught my self saying this came out prime lol thanks my man I will be definitely getting more from ya thanks so much!
@@cbr600rrturbo Haha that's awesome! I was saying the same thing so that's how I came up with Pryme. Great to hear they're working for you! Thanks for supporting man
Thanks!
How much dye do I need to add to 7gal of water?
Fire bro
found RIT Dye More (synthetic) an JoAnn fabric store - shelf was empty so had to look on top shelf where extra stock was. Store emplyees where CLUELESS and IGNORANT of anything, as ussuall. had to find row myself, and the extra stock on top shelf myself.
Were you got that ratios from?
Всем привет!
Подскажите, можно ли использовать другой краситель для ткани. У нас в Казахстане не продается краситель Rit
What kind of plastic is this that your dying? Hdpe? Only time I've had to use acetone was with delrin. Usually vinegar was enough for polycarbonates
catch ya next time... Ron
Also, use distilled/deionized water....It makes all the difference by naturally being more acidic it can break down the dye better absorb/ penetrate deeping.
Can you save the dye solution and reuse it?
how does the acetone help?
