Oo, one thing you could do for your outside light, you could get a smart bulb for it.
Then it can be controlled via an app, which you can set up a schedule (I have my lights on a schedule on at 8pm, off at 12am).
Or get Alexa to switch the lights on, you can just use the app as a light switch too.
That way you wouldn’t need to use the internal light switch in the dining room, you just leave it switched “on”. (Then like you say you could make a door for the light switch just in case the bulb ever stop working).
What you’re great at doing is bringing dimensions to rooms, the textiles, the accessories, it gives the room so much depth. Beautiful!
I love it, especially the cladding! The smaller sofa fits so much better, the old one DOMINATED haha

I love the fact you've done so much of it yourself! I live in a 1930's semi but my taste is very midcentury... can't afford a midcentury Californian home (😂) so I've stolen elements and applied it to my home. It oddly works! I'm of the opinion that your space should be exactly how you want it, who cares if it's not in keeping with the original style of the building!

This is the first video I've seen from this channel and instantly subscribed. Fantastic vid :) I relate so much to dulling down your own space to try and accomate imaginary guests. I always worried so much about what my family or friends would think about my room (and how it would shape their opinion of me), and its only made me make a space that doesn't feel like me anyway. Been in the process of donating and replacing decor with unique things that suit my interests more regardless of what others may think, and I'm already soooo much more happy with it :)

I love the space! Your story reminds me of my ex and I furnishing our first apartment. It was a nightmare to figure out a middle ground and most of the time, what we ended up buying was gray. I had to downplay my style and color so much.

I came for the house tour - and as I also had silver hair and was into alt fashion, I stayed for the rest. Been here ever since! I guess still gives quicker/safer access to the front door and stairs as she's still got that portion of hallway with the stairs and front door rather than having to go in a u shape

Just get yourself a smart bulb for your outdoor light. Turn off & on via your phone!! I have 2 outside, they haven't been replaced since I put them in 6 years ago. 😊
