  • In this video, I continue work on my London Road Models LNER J3 in 4mm scale. Almost at the finishing line now, I am adding all the detail parts, including how to add boiler bands the easy way!

    Hi,
I must say I’m enjoying your videos and wish to build a Thompson A2/2 (P2 Rebuild) and I’m learning a lot.
May I ask if you could do a rundown of the basic tools you require in its own video please? Along side a few places to find the copper/nickel wire and nuts and bolts?
I’ve spent hours trying to find out but getting nowhere and any help would be much appreciated.
Loving the videos please keep them coming our way!
    Many thanks,
    Ross

Hi Ross, you can get the nuts and bolts from Eileens Emporium, or try Hobby Holidays, just google them and have a look at the website. Cheers.

I have always found commercial boiler bands too thick and a nightmare to solder nicely. Since the 1960s I have used thin tape or more often, just paper glued on with a drop of cyano that seeps easily thro' the paper.
