At least all the OG games have fun characters and epic gameplay even if you might not like the story, but the Reboot on the other hand as decent gameplay when it works, but shit story and shit characters and feels further fromt he roots of Sainst Row then even Gat Outta Hell did, the Reboot is that bad that I'd ran Gat Outta Hell as better.

The Saints Row reboot world design was so flat. By flat I mean the ground itself. It felt like there was no elevation. Almost like feeling like the world was a flat earth.
Saints row world design got progressively worse every installment and idk why, stilwater was nice, steelport was okay but it felt like a worse Liberty City, then.. whatevee the hell the reboot had

It's the most "written by a sheltered white girl who thinks game development is activism" video game I have ever played. It's depictions and characterizations of gang violence is totally deranged and utterly insufferable. I was hunched over laughing like a toddler when I found out that is exactly who wrote it.
Saints Row 2022 is the funniest tragedy I have ever experienced.

@@RtistiqSkubie Saints Row 3 sold three times as many copies as the SR Reboot over the same amount of time way back in 2011. If Volition actually made a good game, one that combined all the best aspects of the previous titles, it easily could've surpassed those numbers.
The only character that is even mildly interesting looks like the villain in a spin off movie of Woody from Toy Story, the Nahuali. Awful, awful game. So saddening after growing up with SR1 and SR2.
This game had no chance of succeeding. It was just overall bad, and I can't say I wasn't surprised. The writing was on the wall for this series for a while now. Still sad to see Volition shut down.

Then they went off the rockers by 4 game and agents of mayhem which may not be saints game but it takes place in a recreated world made by gat after his trip in hell and reboot is a blantly bad mistake by people who clearly didn't read the room, overpromised under deliver, hell story was dog shit stupid and annoying, trying to appeal to a generation who probably didn't gave a shit about the game (aka twitter crowd), and clearly publisher embracer group and other top executives are out of touch with gamers as usual.
You may enjoy it sure good for you. Everyone else just found it sad that this game and studio that build it had died because of corpo meddling and greed.

I've watched multiple reviews with cutscenes of peoples characters and it looked weird.

These dumbasses just had to put out a SR1 SR2 style game around the time people started getting sick of GTA Online but they didn't, a big missed opportunity right there, so many years wasted when they could of put out a game after GTA V.
They had a serious chance at capturing a ton of fans that loved GTA SA for that gangster vibe it had.
(I'm replaying the 1st game right now, it still holds up pretty well after almost 2 decades)
i replayed the first one like 2 years ago that is still in my opinion more fun than gta 3 and vice city.
Call me crazy, but I'll always believe that "heightened racial tensions" is the reason why the reboot distanced itself from the OG culture of 2, and "cultural-insentisivities" of the power-fantasy of 3 and 4. Also the reason why they took IdolNinja's 2 patch and scrapped it once he died.
Nope, can't have content that promotes the stereotype of gang violence, can't have content that portrays women as objects (pffft.) We're gonna make it about the woes of our personal post-college lives and you're gonna LIKE it.
There's never gonna be another game like the original Saints Rows. The "modern audience" decrees it as societal degradation. Which is funny, because it seems like an awfully conservative standpoint.

Played through it last year when Volition went under. The character & vehicle customization were very flexible, but the story paled to the rest of the franchise even after they removed some of the lines.
The definite tragedy was the inclusion of the in memoriam page at the end of the game with IdolNinja. Behind the scenes, he'd been through a lot and was working on a PC patch of Saints Row 2 before he passed from cancer. With Volition shelled, it's unlikely that it'll see the light of day.
RIP. He'll forever be a Gentleman of the Row.
Fun fact they were actually going to go back to gangs in this game but because corporal meddling saying oh people don't want to play in games and the writing coming from sweet baby Inc that was a recipe for disaster

Imagine if the characters were more likable, to at least have them have traits and quirks that can make them endearing instead of quirky teens. Imagine then that Mission where they shoot Eli, have him and/or Kevin Die. Honestly, something like that SHOULD have been what the entire opening act should have been focused around, its like, a perfect, basic and pretty like sensible way of going about it. Throw away all the shit with Marshall that we KNOW the Boss is going to be fired from and focus on the Death of a main character as the catalyst for the Group to toughten up and form the Saints.

This Reboot was one big "We Told Them So" As Gangster Shoot Em' Up Fanatics. All we asked the devs to consider keep it gangsta, find a way to keep it's game core...,keep our beloved characters as well introduced us to new supporting characters....&:produce a great story.....This game would of went toe to toe with even "Cyberpunk 2077". Instead we got a load of raccoon Shyt in a bag full of broken promises. However I liked the new location & the customizations was stellar. But the game story is beyond cringe.,..it's mere teeth Nashing !

Apparently. The writer of this game is the same writer as Saints Row 2. He did this on contract, he allowed no criticism and did not want credit for this.
I enjoyed driving across the desert, exploring the invisible world boundary.
I even took a photo of a floating cactus.
I love how your character visually reminds me of Sid from Toy Story and sounds like a southern guy with a slighlty higher pitched voice raised in the Bible Belt.

Like i said in a few other coments on videos such as this. The reboot should have picked up right after the end of saints row 2. To be cheaper they could have kept the syndicate from 3 but changed the story to be more gang based, as if they were waiting for the gangs and ultor to tear eachother apart and swoop in on the victorious saints as they fly away in the ending helicopter. The map now includes both stilwater and... steelport? To make it easier on the system they could exist separately as your go between both. But they had so much to work with. With the og cast still and just dropped the ball
I played the first 24 Hour version of this game, the ending cutscene of the last mission, ends with them all A Posing, and the skybox becoming a Green Screen.

This was a great video, dude; I got into the Saints Row series because of this game, and kind of wish I had started on an earlier game. I played it on PS4, which meant I thankfully avoided some of the glitches on PS5, but it still had the occasional bug. What really irked me is it had some great stuff that it could draw from, but it didn't use it, and from an interview another youtuber did, this game would have been amazing if they did. Hell, some of the challenges didn't work, and once you finished the game, it got boring EXTREMELY quickly

The secret ending in SR2 is one of my favorite scenes in any video game. For the first time, the game makes it very clear: You are the bad guy in this story.

The game crashed three times in row in the character creator, making me start over three times. I didn't make it much further than the prologue after that. The fact that it was much worse than I expected speaks volumes. I knew it wouldn't be very good, but damn ..

Whoever wrote the story of this game didn't even know the previous Saints Row games, not even had any idea what Creative writing is. "Show Don't Tell" not self-inserting their own highschool trauma. They didn't even know what Gang is. Not even tried to research things to make a compelling world building and narrative.
The salesfigures are kinda inflated to at least some degree. The game hadn't even been around that long until it was free on PSN as a part of their monthly free games.
It's when i picked it up, as i wanted to see just how bad it was, without having to pay a single penny for it, and if i did it, theres a good chance that at least a few other Playstation players did too...
And despite having payed nothing for it directly, i still felt like it was a waste!
This is like what a corporation's politically correct idea of what a gang looks like. Fucking painful.

The aiming was so dogshit that I turned the auto aim to the max and just spammed the key to hit headshots and get the encounters over with quicker.

True story. This game was on XBox Free Play Days once. They were letting you play this game FOR FREE, albeit temporarily... And I still refused to download and play it! That's how bad this game was for me!

The problem was saints row 2022 when it worked properly was a fun game but it wasn't a saints row game because the main characters were a bunch of collage student preppies rather than a proper street gang and the idols who were one of the other street gangs were worse because even though they were supposed to be anti company they were anti everyone except themselves
Very great video though one thing i thought odd you saying was the "Cars shouldn't have health bars" well technically yeah i know the nerd stuff. All games really had hidden health bars with cars the only i would say in my 29 years of life the best concept of a car with health and realism with how it would get destroyed with bullets is Mafia 2 where you can shoot the fuel pump area of the car and it will instantly ignite the fuel in there and explode the car. That i wish games would do more with that.
