Really appreciate the Muslim lady with the headscarf - love the diversity of your introductory characters! I've recently started watercolor and your tutorials are some of my favorites. Happy holidays :)!
Ok, this has got to be the cutest!! I thought it was going to be a faceless portrait. I like this so much more. Adorable painting of the cutest family. I think I found your channel in May and I’ve been hooked ever since. You make watercolor approachable. And your sweet personality brightens every single one of your followers’ lives. Thank you and Merry Christmas! ❤️
I’ve absolutely loved and admired those who watercolor for so many years. I’ve always told myself I couldn’t do it because in order to watercolor, of course you have to be able to draw. I can’t draw- my doodles aren’t even cute. It’s been VERY disheartening & frustrating to have had this roadblock for so long. I can’t even find the words to thank you for your slow, detailed instruction that I feel like are meant just for me. Can I watercolor? Well, yes, I think I can. 🙂
Love this idea of simply drawing people. I have been wanting to write and illustrate some books (paper back type or comic book style) of my grand kids and maybe of my kids when they were young, just to hold onto and pass down the memories and even add their pets into the illustrations. SIMPLE but effective. (( Not necessarily to publish but just for our "home use")) Who doesn't love illustrated stories? This idea helps me be brave to go for that style in drawing the people. Really makes it more fun and takes the pressure of serious details off me. Thank you !!!!
Emma, I just love the way you put a matching smile on you and your son. So cute! I started trying watercolor watching your tutorials and you gave me so much confidence and a place to start. It has now become one of my joys in life. Thank you ever so much and I wish you and your family a Merry Christmas and a Happy 2020.......LOVE SHERRY
Love this! I'm a beginner watercolor-ist and I followed your tutorial for my little family and I just love it so much! Would love to see how you would incorporate a cat with this style ❤
I am loving your illustration vids at the mo! It would be awesome to have some tips on how to make people look old - for xmas I did fanily portraits and the 80 and 90 year olds looked way too young!
A thousand thank you’s! I have been waiting for something like this for the longest time. In the future, perhaps you could show us how to do a whole figure. You have really enriched this last year with your outstanding videos. Keep them coming. You are so appreciated!
These are so cute Emma!!! I'd love to see more videos on drawing and watercoloring people! Maybe add some side views and maybe show a couple of women drinking coffee or tea together. Maybe a family walking, kids swinging. Or even just more of what you've showed us already!!! :)
Emma, thank you for a great tutorial. I do believe you broke it down perfectly that I’ll finally be able to draw and paint a person!! Keep up your awesome work👍🏼👍🏼😁
I didn’t think I’d really get interested in this... but I did! I’m definitely going to try this for my family. Thanks for the instruction on simple facial shapes and features. That really helped me see how to do this successfully.
Emma, I thought about doing a family portrait that would include our pets. Maybe you could do a tutorial on drawing simple cats and dogs 'cause after all they are part of our family. I was thinking of doing a family portrait on a Valentine's card for my husband including our cats. If it turns out half way decent I'll post it on Instagram!
1. Your hair color is nice! 2. You are a gifted art teacher. You naturally explain what others don't. 3. I've been waiting for your son to say bye like mommy and he did it!! 🙌 I'm a Nana to 6 and I adore children. I enjoyed this tutorial. Merry Christmas Emma to you and yours!
You did a wonderful job handling diversity. I've seen other artists only include caucasian. Sometimes I don't think that they think about it, but in a public forum, it is necessary that you do think about it. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays. I hope you reach 100,000 in the new year!
Absolutely ADORABLE!!! Beautifully painting of a beautiful family!! Thank you for sharing your techniques and inspiration, Emma!! You’re a great teacher!!

Thanks for this tutorial. I'm trying to learn drawing family portraits with watercolour paint during isolation. 😊 Something I've always wanted to do but never had the time to.
I feel so unartistic, but I really wanna try this after watching your video! How did I not know about your YOuTube channel until now???? soooooo goooooood!
So cute & inspiring... got out my sketch pad and drew along with you. Will attempt the painting later... The bald guy looks like a friend of mine - lol - Thanks for the tips! Really love this little portrait! What a cute gift it'd make for someone too! :)

This is adorable and I really appreciate your tutorial! Its a favorite and I can't wait to try this! Thanks! Merry Christmas to you and your precious family. 🎅🎄🎁
Also, a word about that kneaded eraser. Just a helpful hint. If you pull, stretch, and knead it that will clean and soften the eraser. I haven’t seen eraser shavings off a kneaded eraser until today. 😊
That was fascinating. You really have a knack. Do you illustrate children's books by any chance? I am now tempted to paint my daughter's family. These could be great little gifts mounted in a simple frame.
I love this! I want to try....but where are my watercolors paints at? We are getting ready to move across country and have packed everything up that is none essential. We are just waiting for our home to sell. I have put together a small artist kit for traveling, but I think it just has colored pencils in it. Ugh!
Hi Emma I'm new to your channel and I am loving it! thank you. I cant wait to start a small portrait of my family. Can't find the thin ink pen you mentioned, I have been looking for one that is permament. What would you suggest. I live in Paris. Thank again for your great videos.
I love that you put faces on everyone. The "faceless" trend really bothers me, this is a perfect way to still have faces and also have it look cute and simple.
Nat Paint That Oh Nat! I couldn’t agree with you more. I had never heard of faceless portraits until my niece asked me to do one for her brother-in-law and his new wife. So strange. They kinda creep me out. 😳

This was SO much fun! I was so intimidated by water color, but you break it down where it's too much fun to be scary!

Debbie Buttars I know, I’ve been so bad at kneading it. Definitely getting a new one and will take better care of it! Lol

Can I ask what the ink pen is you used in these sketches please 😊
How would we include cheekbones? ☺️
Dankeschön 👍🏼
I love this! I want to try....but where are my watercolors paints at? We are getting ready to move across country and have packed everything up that is none essential. We are just waiting for our home to sell. I have put together a small artist kit for traveling, but I think it just has colored pencils in it. Ugh!
How would you do a girl with just a ponytail? Usually photos wouldn’t show it, but if I draw it the figure looks like they have no hair...
Did you mention that you used to teach?
I use my hairdryer to dry mine 😊
Hi Emma I'm new to your channel and I am loving it! thank you. I cant wait to start a small portrait of my family. Can't find the thin ink pen you mentioned, I have been looking for one that is permament. What would you suggest. I live in Paris. Thank again for your great videos.
