FIXTURE: Oxford University Women v Oxford Brookes (2024)

On 28th January 2024, Oxford University Boat Club Women challenged Oxford Brookes University Women to a series of fixtures on the Championship Course.
Starting from Putney the crews races three short pieces, the first two approximately 5 minutes long and the final piece around the Barnes bend, all the way to the finish.
You'll be joined by expert commentators Martin Cross, Zoe De Toledo and Henry Fieldman in a race that was originally broadcast live from the Thames (You can view the full live stream here: www.theboatrace.org/fixtures-...)

I remember when Brookes first came on the big-time scene back in the 1990s. The men's crew beat Oxford in the fixtures. It was a big shock in the rowing world after such a long string of wins by Oxford.

Commentary is almost desperately biased towards Oxford boat, but truth to be told, they seem to lose quite some power at the catch. Brookes looks so much smoother…

Fair enough. But it is all about The Boat Race, so understandably biased towards Oxford.
