Steve Perry didn’t actually create Journey, but he is who made them famous. Singing, Writing/co-writing, arranging, even assist producing. At one point, they just let Steve take over making the decisions of the songs/arranging/recoding, etc. He had played drums and bass, prior & understood the whole production of a song from the beginning to the end recording. He was even better live and has never believed in Auto-Tune to this day. He now, is 73! He has his own recording studio, has produced, written and sang on many artists albums. I love his 2nd Solo album, and now, 2018 album Traces & Christmas 2021 album. He is doing a lot of Re-mastering and making vinyls.
Arnel uses guide vocals when he’s running and jumping around like David Lee Roth, no comparison to Steve Perry who sang 109% live even when he had the flu. Steve Perry is in his own league like Freddie Mercury. Arnel is a good cover singer.

But i was surprised when they do the 'ROCK MEDLEY' by Aerosmith, Bon Jovi and GUNS 'N ROSES' i'm shookt! because first time i hear Morissette belt her highest notes ever! and i think Arnel are not able to hit that very high notes and let Morissette do that! Frank this reaction is spectacular. Anecdotally the first performance of Arbel Pineda in Journey was made here in Chile at the Viña del Mar festival in 2008. It was a tremendous show I attached "Lights" of that concert czcams.com/video/KJsrcUJmc4U/video.html also the Arnel after the Show was missing for almost 24 hours, nobody knew where it was and appeared only walking to the hotel after a tremendous party that took place along with some vineyard fans.
