Cesár:
2016- 4th place (backing vocalist)
2017- 2nd place (backing vocalist)
2018- 3rd place (lead singer)
There is definitely something about him 🤔
Loved all three entries❤
For someone who got to the top 5 for the last 3 years, it’s really impressive
Surie had long hair???? She was so cute with that ponytail
I didn't recognize SuRie. Which one is her?
@@andrijadjordjevic9584 if you pause on 7:13 she is the girl who is looking in the camera
@Ariana Grande greek fan
Thank you. She looks unrecognizable there.
@@andrijadjordjevic9584 ikr
Andrija Djordjevic If you look at her face, it's obvious. The hair, not so much.
The most shocking is for sure Maya Sar being a backing vocalist for Deen in 2004. 😂
R F It definitely is. 😂😂😂
Ahahahahaha I seen this comment after thinking the exact same thing! 😂
For me it was the fact Raay actually was a backing vocalist. I thought he was musician and composer, not singer
which one she was-
Again, updated for 2019:
- Jurij Veklenko (Lithuania) - previously a backing vocalist in 2013 and 2015
- Tamara Todevska (North Macedonia) - besides singing lead in 2008, she was also a backing vocalist in 2004 and 2014
And if 2020 had happened, we would've seen the Mamas take center stage after singing backing vocals for Sweden in 2019, Austria's Vincent Bueno previously sang backing vocals for Nathan Trent in 2017, Malta's Destiny sang backing vocals for Michela in 2019, North Macedonia's Vasil sang backing vocals for Tamara in 2019, and one of the members of Hurricane sang backing vocals for her father Knez in 2015.
Second update for 2021: Vincent Bueno, Vasil, Destiny, and Ksenija all got to compete, so no change there.
Vincent will return in 2021, which makes it better!
Wow, this happened a lot more often than I thought. My favorite is Uzari, that wild son of a gun that loves Belarus and hears time like thunder in his head.
What about reverse, lead singer before and backing vocalist later?
Tamara Todevska (Macedonia 2008) was back vocalist in 2004 for Tose Proeski.
Oh I didn't know that. Thanks ^^
And also for her sister in 2014 :)
Michal Dar Yes, I know. Tijana is also very popular here in Serbia.
Update: And she was also the lead singer for 2019 😁❤
@@MeryRGESC Especially Destiny Chukunyere too. She started as a lead singer and later winner at Junior Eurovision 2015, then later comes back as a BACKING VOCALIST for Michela. Now It's time Destiny Chukunyere to represent Malta this year
Loving the idea! My favourite is Tijana from Serbia😍💗
Never reliesed that Gisela had been involvled before !. Good theme to put together. How about one with twins/siblings invovolved
Rosa won Operación Triunfo in 2001-02, a talent show in Spain, and that's why she went to Eurovision in 2002. Her backing vocalists were contestants in OT that year too, including Gisela. Fun fact: Amaia and Alfred took part in OT too, but of course it was the 2017-18 season! :)
2:12 funny thing is that both songs sound so similar to each other
I suddenly realized that Belarus brought several SOLID entries throughout the years.
I recognised the voice from Cesar Sampson
Wonderful work
Thanks
Very interesting.
I also play flipline
I didn't know that the Georgian guy from 2012 was in esc before. :o And then he's the one I expected the least lmao.
Also haha Maya in 2004 is a shocker. xDD
fabb4i2 and he was after :) With Tamara
Quite surprised here! Some people really know how to make their way in!!! I've watched Poli's video a thousand times without realising that Cesar was there!!!
#WiWiBlogs should watch this!!!
You missed few of Martina's appearances (yes, there's more). 2011 with Maja Keuc, 2012 with Eva Boto, 2014 with Sergej Ćetković and 2016 with Nina Kraljić (those two prob offstage).
I still think it was a CRIME they hid Cesar and his amazing voice from us. I mean, he deserved the big stage.
Yes, but the video is about her appearances before her lead entry (2009), although I didn't know she was in 2014 and 2016 :O
At least Cesar was well deserved this year xD
Oh, now I get it! Ok, that makes sense. She's basically someone to call when Croatia, Montenegro and Slovenia have no other background singer to turn to. (I won't start about what a controversy she caused (next to a Croatian composer) that she sang for Slovenia as a lead singer in 2009. Some people were complaining even though she does have Slovenian roots! I mean, her lastname is completey Slovene!). She was also in EMA 2015 with the same composer but didn't come to the finals. I loved Alive, I hope she does come back (and piss those nationalists a bit more *evil laugh*).
So Martina is the Queen of Eurovision and not Valentina Monetta 😂
ESC Bill You could say that, hehe. Valentina needs to catch up with her!
@@icecranberry2148 and it's an irony that Martina qualified more times than Valentina (2007, 2011, 2014, 2016 with different countries🤣😂)
Surie looked so cute with brown hair and ponytail
I think Dihaj was replaced by a Swedish lady in 2017, because they interviewed her and she said she was just the vocal coach
Ups I didn't know that 😅
MeryRG Esc yes. There was Swedish Jessika Marberger, Dea Norberg and Anna Engh
Yes Dihaj or Diana was singing only during first rehearsal with Samra
Hera bkörk is also back vocalist of maria olafsdottir.(Iceland 2015)
The video is about before. Also, I'm pretty sure that Martina was a backing singer for Maja Keuc.
Yes and Martina was after her entry too. But this is about before.
@@Ri_F Yes and for Eva Boto too
Well, that's a case of a back singer being a way better vocalist than the lead singer, because Iceland 2015 was one of the cases of a song that sounded great on the video but didn't translate well on stage
@@yomismo74 Iceland 2015 was a sad story. Maria was great back in the National final, but multiple changes were made to her performance (one being taking away all her dancers) and she became way too nervous standing on the big stage in Vienna
I know the scope of the video is from 2008-2018, but here are some examples from earlier years:
- Lotta Engberg (Sweden 1987) - backing vocalist for Herreys in 1984 and Kikki Danielson in 1985
- Lia Vissi (Cyprus 1985) - backing vocalist for Elpida in 1979
- Alexandros Panayi (Cyprus 1995 and 2000) - backing vocalist for Cyprus in 1989 and 1991
- Evridiki (Cyprus 1992, 1994, and 2007) - backing vocalist for Cyprus in 1983 and 1987
- Elena Patroklu (Cyprus 1991) - backing vocalist for Cyprus in the same years as Evridiki, plus 1989
- Kit Rolfe (UK 1984 - "Belle" of Belle and the Devotions) - backing vocalist for the UK in 1983 (and later in 1991)
- Pave Maijanen (Finland 1992) - backing vocalist for Finland in 1982 and 1983 (and later in 1993)
- Tor Endresen (Norway 1997) - backing vocalist for Norway in 1988
- Bettina Sorrat (Austria 1997) - backing vocalist for Austria in 1996
Great call, these people are missing so much great ESCs by starting just from 2000
Hera Bjork is a queen, the Queen of Iceland..
She was my winner in 2010
Great resource! These kinds of trivia about ESC is always fun. =)
There was one person I noticed you forgot
🇲🇰 Tamara Todevska backing Mr. Toše Proeski himself in Istanbul
The video published in August 2018.
@@user-ml3mj8sg7s but Tamara was one of lead singers for Macedonia in 2008😉
She's more on back to lead to back to lead.
@@user-ml3mj8sg7s But Tamara sang in Belgrade 2008 with Vrcak and Adrian, before 2019
Let's hope that Paweł Skiba comes back as a lead singer after carrying on his shoulders basically the entirety of Rafał's song this year
Pasha Parfeny became the pianist in 2013 for Moldova i think 😂
Also :
Bledar Sejko was in 2011 as a guitarist for Aurela Gaçe and later in 2013 he represented Albania with Adrian Lulgjuraj
Update
The backing vocalists of the guy from Sweden 2019 came back as lead singers from Sweden in 2020 (The mamas)
Go back to the 80s and will find pleny more.
Jurijus (Lithuania 2019) appeared in the performance of Lithuania 2015
Yes. I made this video last year
@@MeryRGESC hahaha sorry, i did not realize
Am I the only one that thinks Casanova sounds like that entry from Spain in 2002
nope
Off-stage backing singing is such a shame for Eurovision... In recent years contest turned into a visual show. I think all vocals must be on stage and seen!
I don't condemn off-stage singing if it's done like in Kristian Kostov's case. No fancy costume, stage setting, LED show or fireworks. His stage was all about showing off the song.
Great video
Thanks!
After 13 years I realized that Europe's living a celebration & Casanova are very similar :surprised Pikachu face:
And now we know why haha
I love Belarus!❤🇧🇾❤🇧🇾❤
Amazing😍😍😍😍😍😍
Great idea. Maybe, I know returning artists (lead to lead), but back to lead - almost nobody. Thank you for this video
Thanks :)
And Tamara Todevska was backing vocalist in 2004 for Tose Prowski
As a American I'm shocked
You mean to tell me mr nobody but you was a background singer twice
Hvalne ne
Surie the girl who stopped the show without even winning ( Belgium )
You can find footage of Vlado in the backstage videos of Eurovision.
Do one backwards, main to backing like Tamara from Macedonia 2008/2014, Hera, and Pasha sitting at the piano, the guy from Euroband.
I wonder how many back vocalists this year will participate in the future 🤔 for sure one of vocalists from albania i guess
Woooooooow
Also in 2020 the mamas were the back up dancers for John Ludvik
I don't know about 2016 but Lea was a backing singer for Maaraya In 2015 (offstage).
Do one for AFTER they represented Eurovision.
Hera Björk was also backing vocalist in 2015 for Iceland!
This is about BEFORE their lead entries!!!
@@MeryRGESC right you are 😅 I hadn't read good the title
If you wanna have some fun, don't run... I just love this song hahah
4:24 «Can you believe it» tahn you put Leas face in there ... that was savage man
Fun Fact: Surie was supposed to step on Loic's chest but instead stepped on his
Have a good day!
Do one of backing singers that keep appearing
Hera was a backing for Iceland in 2015 as well.
Read the title. It's appearances before her lead entry (2010)
Hera Bjork was also a BV in 2015.
2019 Lithuanian Guy is the back vocalist and dancer in 2015 Lithuania
And in 2013
Wasn't Ksenia from Hurricane (the girl with red hair) a backing vocalist for her father in Knez in 2015 in the Montenegrin entry?
Interesting 👍
Next video about...you Top Eurovision 2014? 😅
Yes 😂
Yay! 😄
What editing program do you use?
Vegas Pro
Tijana🇷🇸💕
I'm pretty sure Hera Björk also backed Denmark in 2017. :)
What's the name of the Backing vocals from Molitva?
The misses of Serbia!
I`m kidding!!!
Tijana from Serbia ❤
SURIE OMG
Omg I didn't know the girl from Malta 2012 was Amber. And Surie looks much better with long hair
Imri was in 2016 too
it's written in the video
Austria 2018.. was 100x better than Israel & Cyprus and shouldve won, but it was my 2nd that year still.
2020: will we see Lea Sirk again?
How about Evridiki?? How about Kim Jackson??
Anabel Conde??? Spain 1995, and Andorra 2005
also wasn't Euroband backing vocalists for Yohanna?
Yes, but this is about appearances BEFORE their lead entries
oof I didn't read the title probably xD
You should do a video but about artists who represented their country and then a different year was a backing vocalists for another Eurovision entry xD
4:18 What the?!
The MAMAS would have been here... :(
Vincent Bueno, too. But he'll be back next year.
Vince backed Nathan Trent in Kiev.
Lots of off-stage backing vocalists in 2016. Shame on you, SVT. -_-
7:13 IT'S NOT SURIE! ARE YOU SERIOUS? IT'S LOÏC NOTTET! IT'S THE BEST SINGER IN BELGIUM!
Its the BACKING VOCALIST!!! Obv I know who is Loic
@@MeryRGESC Somebody wasn't reading.
ETV ? Ha, keegi eestlane recordis seda.

Did no one teach her how to speak English?
8:35 I ❤ communism and corruption
Hera Bjork was also a back vocalist for Iceland in 2015.
It's in the other video czcams.com/video/s2NsURRBqrE/video.html
@@MeryRGESC OMG you're still reply even almost 3 years
