I did a static line course many years back - it took 15 - 20 jumps to do the first one on my own.
AFF (assisted free fall ) course was even faster.
It is not as difficult as is looks.
The deep blue sea underneath gives me the chills...

Real Life: activates parachute 1000 feet before ground
Gta: opens parachute 10 feet before ground
1000 feet is actually an extremely low open. Generally you deploy at 5000-3000 ft; if you have a malfunction on your main canopy, it gives you enough time to cut away and deploy a reserve.

A one-off tandem is affordable to many in the western world as a special present, but doing a course with the requisite amount of jumps and training to do a helicopter jump, plus gear, plus helicopter hire puts it out of the financial and time constraints of many in the western world - and then we should think about the rest of the world.
Nothing against adventure sports and the whole system by which it works. Mostly its cool. But BS we should think its affordable by any sane, relative, international scale.

@Moderator Hater That's true, and part of normal progression in a sport. On my first jump I wasn't doing freefall, it was an instructor assisted deployment where the parachute deploys when you let go of the aircraft. After that I was doing short delay, then longer delay solo freefall. After that I progressed to doing small formation jumps, known as relative work. I'm experienced and could handle doing this jump, which I wouldn't do as a newbie skydiver.

As someone who does both, I can confirm that skydiving is better than sex.
I’ve met some wild women skydiving! 😊 My favorites! And I love each and every one of them! It takes a special kind of woman to jump out of a perfectly good airplane or helicopter!
