- A first look at the iDraw H Version Pen Plotter - A3 Size Handwriting Machine/XY Plotter/Laser Engraver. Going to run this through a few more tests, but here's a quick unboxing and putting together of the drawing machine.

So far I've only had a bit of a play.snap judgment I like it, but fountain pens seem to be a problem I'm still trying to figure out.
Santa was busy this Christmas😂😂❤
🎅
What I’d like to see is a pen swap mid plotting. That would be nice. Great vid btw. ❤
Noted! I hardly use the pause button on the AxiDraw ('cause I accidentally removed it!) but yeah, I'm interested to see how easy this is to stop and then carry on.
I highly recommend their product.
Thanks for this video. Highly the comparison with the axidraw. Personally I hesitate between the axidraw SE A3 and this Idraw H A3. Your great practice will be decisive for my purchase. But I admit that I have a preference for axidraw, maybe the taste of the original.
Could you advise how to tighten the belts I keep getting drift in the x axis can't figure why
Nice ! can I use this product vertically ? I want to put it on the wall.
Thanks for the video.
Did you have a look at the wobbly base?
Like you said it's not standing completely flat on the table.
Yeah, it's still a bit wobbly, I just put some card under the foot. It does mean the whole unit is _slightly_ twisted, but I haven't noticed it cause any problems with the plot, the pen clears the paper at all points. Any bowing hasn't been significant enough to cause any trouble.
Dan I've got one of the older models, an A3 T plotter. Two things I've struggled with: 1. getting it to return to the same spot after drawing a layer, it always needs to be pushed back to (0,0) which feels hacky and fraught. 2. Whenever I've tried to use something that's not the inkscape extensions (e.g. the axidraw python module) it's sort of almost worked but everything's been upside down and inside out. Would be ace to know if the newer version returns back to the same spot, and if it would allow me to escape inkscape (inkscape and I do not get along).
Oh I hate InkScape with a passion!! This does have a "return to home" option, but it's the thing it told me I needed to update my firmware for, which I didn't do. I'm still after all this time checking the alignment between layers by hand.
I'll have to look at the python part, talking to it directly is something I need to do more.
@@revdancatt Inkscape is clunky and sluggish… but it’s free and that is why so many plotters use it. It’s not really designed to do anything workflow. Even the way it handles templates is goofy. Problem is as a world wide market, plotter users are very tiny. This is good in some ways making us more unique. As far as software and support it’s not good. I am hoping with the advent of AI programming systems, we will finally be able to get high grade software.
What are you using instead of Inkscape? I really want something else but I have no idea what software I can use. Thx
Dan I just got my idraw 2 a month ago and I’m trying to figure out how to print cards where the name changes each card. I am not a python programmer but chatgpt is and I’m going to see if it will help write one for me.
I feel we are right on the cusp with an AI being able to write a program which will produce anything we want or need.
Yeah, it very much has that feeling, and yet still _slightly_ out of reach, lol. Now the door has been opened I want it to do lots of things it can't quite yet.
Good luck with the Chat GPT I have found its coding disappointing. But some people seem to get good results.
I it too noisy? Or the stepper motor sound is amplified in the video? I was expecting it to jave silent TMC stepper driver.
Yes I thought it was rather noisy as well. But I must admit the standard servo in the AxiDraw is also quite noisy as well.
