Was a good documentary.
Wayne Rooney was absolutely phenomenal in his prime. Younger generation only remembers his performances when he was past his prime. He was unstoppable in his younger days.
The weird thing was his prime was so early compared to everyone else. He was Evertons best player at 16 and hit his prime by like 21. The sad part was his career slowed down a lot by 27ish which is usually when the normal guys hit their prime. He was just an absolute superstar, the best English forward of my generation for sure
The goal against Newcastle when he was arguing with the ref , furious then turned around ball came to him and ripped a volley in. Scored some ridiculous goals. Among his many.
Yeah fifa done him dirty on his rating
@@coupedegrace8931 Yep they forgot how many times he used to be on fifa game Cover. As I remember he was also the best player in the entire game of fifa 07.
@Abdul Raheem he ain't complaining though!!!
Wayne Rooney was on another level, exceptional footballer. made his mistakes in life but who doesn't? definitely the best English player of 'my' era
Not many People make the mistake of sleeping with a granny
@@liamfenwick6320 depends what ur into
@@liamfenwick6320 maybe it wasn t a mistake and he s into grannies
Your era? This guy is top scorer of England and was phenomenal in his prime. People mostly remember Rooney past his prime. He is easily on the list of greatest English players ever.
Easily the best English player of all time. Not one English player can match his records and statistics. Its not even worth debating.
His angry volley against Newcastle encapsulated his brilliance as a player.
Brilliant and unbelievably underrated.
Underated???? He is seen as an English great
@@minigrande1939 people don't talk about him as being as good as he was. There was a brief period where he was the best striker in the world, was possibly unlucky to have not won the ballon dor.
It's not that people are saying he was rubbish; they just don't recognise and acknowledge quite how good he was.
@Abdul Raheem if you say so pal.
I mean; he was voted the best striker in 2011... but obviously you know better than all the footballers and managers who voted for him... 🤔
@@ukbigjon lol what about eto’?
@@user-gt5me3nf6b care to elaborate?
He's become very well-spoken. Actually seems a pretty switched on intelligent bloke. Without question one of the best players this country has produced
Doubt we’ll see a 16 year old as talented as him for a long time
Agreed. Had magic in his feet
I dunno why people regard Rooney as having low intelligence.
@@rogermoore3991 he's definitely not always been this articulate. He seems more relaxed which would help I guess
@@rogermoore3991 It was because of his behaviour when he was a teenager although people shouldn't use what he did at 18 to judge him at 36, that's just stupid
Really impressed with him these days, and he is coming across surprisingly eloquent in recent interviews like this... Feels like a guy who has learned many lessons from quite a life, and the documentary looks very interesting.
Well Done Wayne, and good luck in the Management Game.
Eloquent? 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂
He's still shagging vacuous bimbos. Hes supposed to be a manager, yet still behaving like a chav
I remember I was in hospital watching Wayne's debut for United against Fenerbahce. That hat-trick was magic
Almost 20 years ago now
I'd never forget that game. The free kick was just insane. He was 18, walked over to Ryan Giggs took the ball from him and said I'm taking it. His belief was unmatched.
While watching that game we all knew that he will be special for Utd
I was that game and he was brilliant.
I was 19 playing snooker/pool with my brother watching the game. Magical
It is incredibly sad how underrated this Legend is. One of the greatest in my opinion
Greatest Man Utd and England goal scorer of all time. History will be kind to Rooney
He’s only underrated by people who don’t know about football
@Casio Music yes! He was exactly that. THE most complete player ever
I didn't think he was underrated. Who underrates him?
@@r4h4al Oh idk some people consider players like Kante, Van Dijk, Modric, Kane, and Bale more legendary than him 😭
Watched his debut at old Trafford, never been as excited after a debut. Legend.
Boy do we miss someone with his mentality (and quality) in the team right now
Remember when Tevez and Rooney played together. They were so hardworking just watching i felt bad for the opponents. As he said with his own words, pitbulls. Great memories. Such a legend Wayne.
Fine words 007
I loved them together the work rate was just unbelievable and they had a fantastic partnership.
The way Wayne amd ronnie dealt with the incident after is just so professional of them. Sir Alex really did good on players. If it was other players they would have had their ego get on their way and fall apart, but they were intelligent and guess what won the league the same season
Rooney is England’s all time top goal scorer, England’s second all time most capped player, Manchester United’s all time top goal scorer, the premier leagues 2nd all time top goal scorer, 5 league titles, a champion league and he STILLLLLLLL underachieved. That is just how good this promising 16 year old was when he made his debut all those years ago.
Without question the best striker England has ever had. With out question.
It is totally unbelievable, but I can understand why. It is because of the trajectory of C Ronald's career. Robert started as the better and bigger talent.
@@ekwejohnson6965 No I think Rooney at 16-20 was a far bigger talent than Ronaldo was. At 18, Rooney was playing at a world class level. Rooney’s career is really complicated. The difference between Ronaldo and Rooney was Ronaldo’s total unwavering dedication to his lifestyle. Ronaldo lived every single day with freakish precision and micromanagement over his health and body. He went on to become consistently world-class day in day out. From 16-26 Rooney was at his best, and he really was one of the best, but he didn’t maintain the consistent lifestyle needed and didn’t look after himself nearly as well as he should have. Plus he had far more injuries and off the pitch distractions.
Years ago, around 2006, I remember reading an article from a top-flight physiotherapist who said that due to Rooneys body type, he will show significant physical decline each year after the age of 30. I remember completely disagree and I thought he couldn’t be more wrong seeing how great it really was at the time. Turns out he was absolutely spot on. I don’t think Rooney had much in him physically past 31-32, but Ronaldo at 37 still clearly has fantastic physique and it’s why he continue to play top-flight football.
Yes Sir.
I'm a United fan but I think Alan Shearer might have something to say about that.
@@bobbierocksbuster5584 I’m sure people have different opinions. I think Rooney has a more decorative career and achieved more accolades on a bigger scale. They’re both stunning players though and both would’ve been so awesome together upfront
That story of the Scouse kid dressing up as a photographer and a waiter to sneak in and see the players is class🤣🤣
Madness 🤣😂
Best bit of the interview. What a great idea to get on the pitch and close to the players after the match to dress as a photographer. Brilliant blag.
I remember that defining moment: his foot injury vs Portugal 2004 euros. He was winning the competition single handedly. No exaggeration. He was never the same player after that, still exceptional but no longer that unstopple force of nature. That's football.
Same as Gazza Italia 90!
That is true. I remember watching it live it was just one of those things he turned his ankle, it happens. Such a shame.
@@jasonthomas196 Yep after his Gary Charles tackle.
I'm a pool fan...Wayne was off the scales as a player!
His movement and goal scoring 👏
He made the team play better towards the latter part of his Utd career. I haven't seen anyone else dictate the game from the #10 position like that. Instances where the ball should have gone sideways and backwards instead finds its way to the winger in space because his workrate gives the midfielders another option to keep the attack going, and his long passing was always excellent.
Very underrated comment 🙏
He got even better with age in my opinion. He was outstanding in that no.10 position
Absolute goat. Since management his interview skills have really progressed. United's number 1 striker of all time!!
The Tevez point is interesting - as a United fan I liked him and was disappointed when he left. He was clearly a passionate hard worker, the sort of player fans respect …
One of the best England players I've ever seen. Him and Gascoigne were my faves.
As a 29 year old United fan, Rooney gave us some incredible moments. Doesn’t get the credit he deserves. He hit some crazy numbers, exiting player and played out of position a lot. Favourite United player. Class on grass. That volley against Newcastle and the overhead kick against city will forever be engrained in my memory. #Wazza!
Brother I'm a 40 yr old united fan. Damn we were the best 💪🏽
Best comment I've read in a while 👌
@@stephenduke412 only comment I left in 10 years. For the love of Wazza ♥️. The unity of the fans seems stronger than the team these days lol. Thanks Stephen 👍

I’m blessed to of been able to watch Wayne Rooney during childhood. I’ll never forget his debut hat trick in the champs league! L E G E N D.
Respect to Rooney for developing as a person from that tough looking kid! He comes over as a good guy and manager.
The only guy to be a world class striker & a world class midfielder- Rooney was fukin incredible
I watched some clips of Wayne a few months back randomly on CZcams. I mean, I’m not sure where times gone...what an absolute baller. From his goal against Arsenal to being at the ground (on the wrong end!) to see him break Bobby Charltons United record. He was an absolute machine. Pace, technical ability, insane power, determination. He literally had it all and broke England’s AND United’s records for a reason. Underrated by many, hated by most...but for me he’s the greatest English player we have ever had.
He is probably is the greatest English player we have ever had.
People are far too quick to forget how good this bloke was. One of the very best to play the game. When he was raw he was simply unplayable. Power/pace/aggression. Rooney was always at he’s best when he was raging. Animal of the game & a Manchester United legend
In my opinion he's the most underrated player ever in the premier league, most goals for England and Manchester United at the highest level through his whole career. He's respected don't get me wrong but he is never even mentioned when people discuss the best prem players as far as ive heard which is baffling
Rooney play with passion always doing everything he can to win playing as hard as he can in any place the coach told him too. What a great plyer for MU
Waza your a legend bro💪
that guy that sneaked in as a photographer & weighter 👌🤣
Legend. We'll never have another like him
What an icon, absolute legend, more grit and determination in one man than most teams these days
Watched him from his 16s through out his career and thank you for the buzz each time you got the ball! Current & Next football generations should get inspired your work ethics & pure passion! I don’t seem to getting it from today footballers unfortunately!
Wayne Rooney what a great player he was!!! Strong and direct. An absolute machine.
Footballs missing people like him!!! 💯❤⚽
Incredible player, one of the best ever to grace the Premier league. As an Arsenal fan he use to give me nightmares. Also what a job he's doing at Derby now! Despite everything!
What a legend. Great stories 👌👏 the Gary Neville comments 😂😂😂
One of my favorite players ever and massively underrated. I miss this guy so much at UTD
This interview was so fun/entertaining. He’s a good storyteller.
I’m certain that the Euros where Wayne broke his foot, if he hadn’t have got injured, we’d have won the tournament. He was banging goals in.
Yeah everyone always says this...
As an Arsenal fan born 92 I grew up hating Rooney, no matter what people would say I couldn’t ever bring myself to even compliment him as a player but since he’s retired I can’t deny how much I wanted him at Arsenal! The guy was a machine not just goal scoring
That's experience speaking. even if you don't know a thing about him, you can tell he's been through alot , good and bad both. Mostly good.
Absolutely loved the bit where he praised Gerrard for his leadership.
Great interview. I enjoyed the anecdote with Sir Alex. Wayne was a hothead who got pumped up for the big moments. Sir Alex was just lighting the fuse.
Based on the way he talking. Then way he recall every moment & memories. Tbf quite like SAF. Another Man United legends. Love him.
So eloquent and graceful
I'm so glad you put subtitles
So good to see an interview that’s not media trained
Not many achieve anything close to what this young lad has done and his playing career is already behind him. Hats off to him he has matured into a humble human being from the little rebel he once was. Stats do not lie, he was a wonderful player, one of the best of a generation. and could now become a legend as a manager, is there anything he can't do? I guess he could never become manager of LFC !! even Rooney couldn't pull that one off sometimes somethings, no matter who you, are just impossible to achieve.
This guy is the most underrated legend I've ever seen in my lifetime.
There was a time when he was rumored in the Chelsea transfer and I was praying for him to become a chelsea player because he was nothing but a 90+ minute workhorse and we never really had that since Makelele.
We were fortunate enough to have Lampard and later Fabregas who bridged the gap and made us live without that midfield playmaker.
In my book rooney comes before Cristiano as a legend
Not really underated now is he
Ronaldo has won as many champions leagues as Rooney won premier leagues. 5
Legend. Was a pleasure to watch this guy play ball, what a player.
Watched “Sister Act”. Legend!
My favorite player. Truly an icon. Made everyone better and a true team player
Wayne Rooney was everything any manager could yearn to have in his team ..only one position that he didn't play for long was goal keeping but on field he played all roles ....best Legend of 3lions ever put on the shirt
Fantastic at club level, unbelievable in fact, just never could replicate it for england.but then again not many england players do but he was an amazing talent.
He was unbelievable in the 2004 euros, could have won it if he didn’t get injured. Think he got 5 goals of something like that. From an Irish lad
Glad he joined united gave me so many wonderful memories thanks Wayne you was a top player
As a Liverpool fan...ive got to say....Rooney was an exceptional player hated him when he played probably because he played for utd....but looking back any club in world globally...hed of walked straight into there team...very under rated...many his goals always spectacular...man City one unbelievable!!
Wayne "Emmm" Rooney... absolute legend 🙌🏻
even as a city fan what a player rooney was so underappreciated in this country yes hes made mistakes but he was made to play football and no doubt one of the best players to grace the pl not shocked that he mentioned tevez as his favourite strike partner
Beast of a player , one of my favourites a proper players player gave his all , him ,tevez, ronaldo a joy to watch and privileged to have done so many times he could do it all ,passing was scholes esq ❤
Remember thinking he’ll never come to Utd was happy he did his transfer fee seems like peanuts for the player he was and turned out to be he breathes football wish there was more coming through like him the game needs it
He's been there done that, commands the respect of players, has been through good times and bad times as a player and a person, he's going to be a top manager.
Rooney one of the all time greats and that's coming from a city fan best of luck with whatever he does next
I’ll never forget that goal he scored against us when he was at Everton what a goal what a career he was one of my favourite English players he was definitely a pr!ck for the 49th unbeaten run
Rooney is not even the worst offender on that day...riley, the nevilles, van nisterooy etc
@@AB-gb6zz I had it in my head Rooney went down for the pen? Then again I can’t remember what I had for dinner yesterday
@@twistedgooner6472 yeah he did, but tbh you could say that is part of the game. The ref was just pure bias for the whole game though, and some really nasty violent tackles and general kicking of legs from those I mentioned.
Rewatch the worst parts on youtube, look up riley arsenal man utd 04

Used to watch man United on TV just to watch this man play. Was a unbelievable talent he was
Absolute class player never got as much respect as he deserved
"make sure we do our best for Manchester United". Miss that passion and focus
Forever my idol. Legend of the game.
The FA cup final of 2005, where we hit the pole twice and absolutely battered a very very good arsenal team, just happens to be my first game as a dedicated Man United fan. I was 12 then, I am almost 30 now, United through and through, through thick or thin.
Wayne Rooney was one of the greatest British players of all time..his all round game was exceptional.Bet he’s good craic as well
Lots of nostalgia from when playing for United actually meant something
Wayne will always be my favourite player of all time... and I'm not talking football
Big Thanks for the subtitle 😉
Most underrated player of all time, hound ON and OFF the ball, could run for days and had the tenacity of a piranha!
Brilliant video guys

Absolute legend, even tho i need subtitles to make sense of what he's saying
Rooney was hands down one of the best #9’s to play the game, I watched his debut live and I was just in awe… an 18 year old lad with the skillset he had, incredible player.

He is really a top bloke. Nice, nice guy...
Rember being on holiday in Spain when he made his champions league debut , hat trick away at galatary !! Pure class !!! And I’m a gooner

Mr Rooney is really interesting to listen to nowadays. Much more relaxed than a few years ago.
(With a huge smile on his face) “yeah brilliant!” Lol nothing like watching your mate miss a pen
Legend 👑
Best english player iv seen in my time so far 🤘🏽👍🏽
One of the best
Legend. Simple as that
10:58 as a fan of Man Utd.. this was the Most Painful lost ever. The Barcelonas 2009 2011 and even the first ever loss for me as a fan, against liverpool in 01 didnt match that level of dissapointment, loss , disgust that I felt in that FA cup Final in 05. Imagine being the Better team on the pitch and things just not going our way. And losing on Pens. Losing 4-1 , 7-1 to Liverpool didnt hurt as much. Well back in the days after that we still won carling in 06, and 07, 08 ,09 straight winning Premiership. The team did really good for themselves, ... things went pretty right those years.
My favourite player
I love this man more than some family members
Rooney is one England Greats
Him and Gerrad were the only players I and most ppl screamed their name when they scored
Flawed Genius 💯
Absolute class. My wife loves him and said she’d leave me for him in a heartbeat. Legend.
