    In many tests different solutions lead to the same answer,
    e.g. the same rule might apply horizontally and vertically,
    but as long as the video already is, I'm only showing one.
    Notice:
    I'm not affiliated or in any way connected with Mensa Norway,
    I did not create this test, meaning I can not be certain that these solutions actually are the correct solutions or the correct answers, so be your own judge.

    I am really new to these kinds of tests and to the logic behind them, but some of the last ones really feel like someone has to guess an insanely complex “function” (sequence of steps) behind some randomly generated pattern. Is this what “intelligence” really is? Most mathematical/analytical problems require a robust motivation/structure/reasoning behind what you are trying to accomplish. I certainly can’t imagine having to complete these under 15-20 seconds or smth. Wow!

      An interesting thought I often think about with these Raven matrices. Non-verbal method of defining intelligence but what is it truly measuring? Is the time fair? If someone trains for these as the questions themselves have a clear pattern to them that you can practice looking out for (with the exception of the last few questions) then how does that get accounted for? What about different methods of pattern recognition that arrive at the same answer but with a more sophisticated method vs a simpler one? Having multiple choice can also be a problem since you can arrive at the correct answer without completely seeing all aspects of the pattern compared to someone who thought of a complete picture. You can also get the right answer for the wrong reasons and faulty logic. There is too much these tests don’t actually measure so putting faith in them, in my opinion, is ironically a low IQ move lol. If anyone says that’s me being insecure though I actually got a super high result on this test but to avoid coming across as bragging I will not disclose the exact number.

    Ngl question 18 I taught they were stacked on each other cancelling touching lines in addition to adding a flip line on first row, then second row the flip just went offscreen and deleting the useless height of the two + thats why its short, then last line you stack on each other and cancels out half the lines (2segments per line on 3rd row) and then flipped to give only 3 vertical lines

    Rly cool video. Did you know the right answers before you animated or do you show us how you think about the questions? Number 11. for instance, i got the same answer but I did't get how your illustration demonstrated the right answer.
    It was relay cool to see an alternate way of thinking, it was like it opened a hole new world of possibilities, for my self, to think. How our consciousness works and how we can stretch it to fit our goals - in this instance the IQ test -, relay is fascinating. When we do this our very existence and how we perceive the world will change at the same time. New "path ways" will form to thrive in "space", in new and better ways. Just like we do every day, but in a more advanced way. I could literally see space and my consciousness transform when i saw the alternative ways of thinking, relative to my own, in your animation. It's like getting the chance to see how an other human thinks and perceives the world, that is quite special. :)

      Yea I solved these tests before making this video, this video just summarises my thought process by showing 1 answer for each test, leaving the failed attempts out, would make too long of a video otherwise. In 11 I just removed the left from the centre and moved what remained to the right.
      And you are damn right this opens a lot of new worlds, I already use this for language teaching, - demonstrating how I understand languages, mathematics, anything, this is just the beginning.
      Has taken me years to figure all of this out, but it's hard to be taken seriously because all of this is basically new.

    Is pattern recognition the be all end all of intelligence? ? ?

    • @redsusas00
      @redsusas00 Před 9 dny

      No ofc not, IQ can’t determine intelligence as well as popular belief might have you believe. It’s mostly used to determine if you have some mental disability, as long as you score within 85-135 you can’t really tell if someone is very intelligent or not. It’s only if you score below 80 or 85 it should be a concern and likely you have some disability. If you score over 145 then you are ’’probably’’ gifted or just VERY good at puzzles. Either way, IQ is not a great measure of human intelligence, it's only used as a tool in some areas of psychology.
      The reason mathematicians, physicists, and chess players usually score higher than lawyers, philosophers, writers, etc on an IQ test (on average) not because they are smarter, but because they have been more exposed to puzzle and matrix-like activities in their everyday life, not because they are more ’’intelligent’’ than the rest.
      I’m a life long chess player and have scored 135-140 on every iq test I have done in my life (both irl and mensa internet) and the reason I could score so high is because I do both puzzles in my free time and because chess is pattern recognition. This does not make me more intelligent than ’’99.9%’’ of the population as some people like to claim. I wouldn't say I’m dumb, but I’m definitely not near the ‘’genius’’ level as IQ tests would like to claim.

      @user-ir7qs3oe9e i share the same thing. I can have a line of thoughts that end up with a conclusion. I can know the conclusion but i will lose the process. I then have to go all over again or go backwards from my conclusion. The issue is that sometimes it takes me a lot of "wandering" to get there so i dont know if i can get there again. Or sometimes i have these key moments but the fade away.... anyway. Thanks for the insight, makes sense

    took more time outside of the test and was able to find 32 and 34, i still needed the solution for 33, 35
    but.. i think the ones who scored 140+ are more likely lucky than smarter, like, 2 in 100 got 135iq, 1 in 31k got 160iq, in 31k there are 620 people with 135iq, so this 620 people will try their rng with the unknown question with 1/6 odds for a correct answer, few lucky ones will get 150 by pure luck, lets say you manage to esclude few options logically and there you go
    this assuming the real test is similar

      @godther1391 Před měsícem

      35s honestly not so bad, it’s basically like some of the triangle square circle stuff from earlier(question 23) where they each need to appear in the row(except now the shapes are the “up arrow”, “down arrow”, “vertical parallel lines”, “horizontal parallel lines”, and “horizontal line”
      there can be some confusion in the bottom left box as to whether it had the “horizontal line” and the “vertical parallel lines” or just the parallel line, however that can be easily deduced by looking at the columns and seeing that the third already has the “horizontal line”

It reminds me of the riddle of the scorpion, sheep, and hay where it's difficult to figure out unless you are told you can exchange items on shore to bring one back in order to do multiple trips. I tried to solve each horizontally and got stuck once they changed to vertical and the instructions on the test don't indicate you can switch up like that. I guess the higher IQs know to switch in order to find patterns. I wonder if more people would have slightly higher IQ simply if they knew they could look for patterns in either direciton.

    • @yekaterinasmirnova214
      @yekaterinasmirnova214 Před rokem +1

      This puzzle reminded me of Sudoku, where you have to look at the frequency of items and their combinations in a scope of a row\column\single square.
      Here, for instance, we clearly see that each square has to contain a black circle (BC). And in a scope of a single column of 3 squares BC-s are placed differently - it's left, middle or right, therefore we need to place BC in the middle.
      Then we look at the frequency of another item - black triangle (BT), and find out that BT should appear only once in each row or column. Therefore we need to place a BT in the last square, but where exactly - left, middle or right?
      Here we should look not at the three columns, but at 9 columns (3 square columns consisting of 3 item columns each), and compare the collections of items in these 9 columns. With the placement of the BC we've got 3 item combinations of 2WhiteTriangles+1BC, each in its own square column. Our BT?Actually our BT is a part of BT-WT-BC collection, so it's safe to place it at the left. The last collection is BC-BS-WS, and WS goes to the right => BT-BC-WS combination is the answer.

      Tbh nothing to add really, in the red are a striped/white triangle isn't found, when you copy that rule to the other side, it applies,
      meaning the answer doesn't contain that shape in that area, leaving only one option in the end out of the possible options..
      It works completely, but it's kind of a strange solution.

    • @Mark-en3ig
      @Mark-en3ig Před 2 lety +1

      on #33 it's about the diagonals. You understand 33 better after having solved #34. When two of the flaps are open, the striped covers the other, with right upwards covering right downwards first. If none of the flaps are open, the white triangle will switch line. After this, the striped triangle will switch line. The pattern that connects to the bottom right is 1 top middle picture, 2 middle left picture (3 is of course bottom right picture). So going from 1-2 striped top right triangle covers bottom right which then when going from 2-3 the white triangle will switch. This is the pattern you will see much more clearly after having done #34.
